Im hoping this is a temporary review and that Ill see improvements, in which case Ill glad leave a better one. Ive gone twice now. Yesterday, the woman behind the counter was really struggling with the register and tried to charge me $15 for Big Spoon Nut Butter Bar that turned out to be really stale (I eat them frequently and know the desired consistency). I had to insist that it couldnt be that much and she did get help and corrected it. The total, with a 12-oz soy latte came to 8 dollars and change, which I expected. When I went this morning, she had less difficulty, but charged me $9.14 for the same order. Despite trying a different flavor, the Big Spoon Nut Butter Bar was again really stale. There isnt the wait that there is at the Geer Street location which prevents me from going there, but they definitely need more time to get it together. It may be en vogue in the downtown area to wait for up to ~30 minutes for a coffee, but Ill gladly hang with the less "in" crowd and go to a more efficient, albeit less tasty venue, in which Ill wait for up to half the time. I know the name is well established and the downtown location is super popular, and theres no denying their coffee is amazing, but I hope my experiences arent a sign of complacency on their part. If so, they just might struggle to get this location off the ground. I, for one, will wait some months before trying it again.

Great 2nd location! Different feel than the original, and I mean that in the best way possible. Its clear that everything from the layout to the art was meticulously planned, and its all executed beautifully. Leon and Areli were on the leading edge of Old North Durhams revitalization when they opened the Geer St location, and they join some strong partners in this neighborhood (Wimpys, Locopops, and now Guasaca, not to mention offerings a bit further away on 9th st). If early crowds are any sign, theyll be attracting folks to this side of town too. One last point: The money you spend here goes toward more than just your drink. It funds jobs that pay a living wage, work with/by local artists, and the creation of a unique, diverse space outside of downtown Durham.

Ive been a couple times now, and Im very impressed. Im no coffee aficionado, but I know what I like...and I like Cocoa Cinnamon. The building itself is very modern, but also relaxing. The service has always been excellent, and the baristas really seem knowledgeable about what theyre serving. Finally, the lattes are delicious! Importantly, theyre not too sweet and theyre served at a drinkable temperature! Its not coffee that has to sit and get cold before drinking to enjoy. Lastly, they have a great selection of pastries from nearby Guglhupf bakery!

I have been a regular here for over a year and have nothing but great things to say about this place. The coffee and sipping chocolate are amazing. The atmosphere is cozy. The staff is great. Always friendly and knowledgeable despite having to deal with massive crowds. Be advised this place is very very popular and at peak times getting parking or seating can be a challenge. Its a small building that draws a big crowd. If you have a group of three or more, chances are you will have to sit on the picnic tables outside.

Elixer science at the max. Cocoa Cinnamon patrons enjoy the best coffee mixes and cool drink choices. All the drink ideas are unique and delicious. This is a internet bar and the place is relatively quiet as patrons work on their laptops. There are no membership requirement but there is still a sense CC patrons feel they are members of a friendly club.

I very quickly became a regular here! They have incredible hot chocolate. The coffee is great too. The baristas can always give you a good recommendation. I really like the atmosphere at this location. The only negative is that it could use a few more power outlets for customers who bring in computers to sit and work.

Menu needs to be more detailed for those who dont like about all the cool things they saw on the website. They had few pastries (one reason that we went) bc it was Monday. She said they have few on Monday as (apparently) a main supplier is closed on Monday.....

Great neighborhood coffee shop in a new and beautiful location. Coffee always tastes great and the staff does a fantastic job of handling orders and making you feel welcome. I love their chai latte with an espresso shot

Great coffee in a cute little neighborhood. Outside the bustle of downtown and better parking than at their other location. Not a ton of tables for working, but lots of great outdoor seating to sit and chat

What a great little local coffee/tea shop. This is not a Starbucks and if you think you are going to get that here... well you arent. They are doing things no one else is doing. Go there and be adventurous.

While the coffee and pastry I had were both okay, both people behind the counter were extremely terse and not at friendly. I really did not feel at all welcome to stay and enjoy my pastry or coffee.

Nice to have a second location. Still pricey, but product is top notch. Not really laptop friendly, but maybe you should be having coffee with a friend anyway.

Excellent coffee and deserts. Better for people who like to work in a coffee place than for people who like the "plaisir detre" of sipping coffee.

The coffee is great, but the space is often difficult to navigate. It is often a bit of a struggle to find power outlets or open spots at a table

Nice atmosphere. Coffee is done perfectly - milk isnt over-done. Lemongrass tea is nice but sour. Capouccinos are what I recommend.

This place is much nicer than the place over by Geer Street. The counter folks are much friendlier and the service is much quicker.

Prompt, friendly, knowledgeable service with a great vibe and eclectic art/decor. Bench seats really need some padding, though
