Finally a place with friendly AND talented artists. Strangely enough its hard to find both. Other than being a bit difficult to find, this is one of the best studios Ive been to so far. Im always nervous before getting a new tattoo, and it really helps when the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. Even though I wasnt technically a walk in, I made my appointment on the same day that I went. I only gave my artist two hours prepare, and by the time I got there he had my tattoo all sketched out for me. My artist was Steve and he did an excellent job. He only charged me $80 for a piece that in my opinion was worth far more. My tattoo hasnt completely healed, so Im not sure what the finished product will look like, but I have confidence that itll come out great. I really appreciate the work that Steve did, and the genuine kindness that I was received with. I will definitely be coming back here and recommending other people to the shop.

From initial inquiry to the actual tattoo session, exceptional experience. Its a no-brainer for me to recommend Uptown arts to others and to keep going back for future tattoo ideas. Michael was my tattoo artist and is aweome. Answered my email inquiry and set up times for me to come in a discuss my tattoo ideas and scheduled appointments. He was understanding when I had to reschedule too. Hes completely transparent which I think is pretty damn important when youre getting something permanently inked on your body. He isnt afraid to joke around so thats a plus. He suggested my tattoo redesign, size and placement to ensure the best quality. The other tattoo artist were friendly and were cracking jokes; like the comraderie. Im completely happy with my tattoo and look forward to getting more tattoos at Uptown Arts. Highly recommended so go see them!

I was trying to get tatted for my bday it wasnt looking good until I called into uptown arts it was one day that Mike could give me a tattoo which was the next day. Luckily I was off of work so I was able to come in that day. I drew out what I wanted on my chest and he suggested to draw it out so it wont look flat which was a great idea he modified the drawing to fit on my pec it came out exactly how I imagined it and since I was looking for it to connect to start a sleeve he added in the features to start the sleeve so it will look realistic . Its a clean shop and Mike is very professional and hell talk to you during the process to make it easy for you very friendly guy and makes it easy to do busy again with him again I will be returning ! 5stars

Stopped by Uptown Arts on a trip to Charlotte on 04/07/2016. (I live in South Carolina.) Was getting my first and only tattoo and the guys there were awesome. Went with a close friend who is mostly covered in tattoos. Shop was clean and organized, and all three of the artist looked like they lived the tattoo lifestyle. Scott was awesome and was very light handed. Obviously I have nothing to compare this to, but the friend I went with said he was the gentlest artist she had ever been to. I’ll be going here for touch ups in the future (or the small chance I decide to get any more tattoos. I highly recommend this place to anyone in or around Charlotte!

I got my first tattoo here after being a complete newbie to the whole process. I knew what I wanted, but nothing else, was completely ignorant about the way its done and the aftercare. UA makes you feel comfortable from the moment you set foot in the shop and even after you leave. Phil was my artist and he worked with me as much as he possibly could. He did a great job and touched it up afterwards for free to make the job complete. He answered all of my concerns immediately and was extremely kind and patient. If youre in the Charlotte area and wanting a tattoo, you better be going to Phil at Uptown Arts!

Absolute great experience. Mike did my work and it was nothing but perfection. He put my vision to ink and was spot on. Very relaxed and personable. They take great pride in their work. There was one small detail that needed a touchup and I was able to come right back the next day for 5 min and, boom, done. Several other places wanted to charge by hour and all estimated around 3hrs. Mike gave me one set price and the entire day to get it done right. Not to mention this was a cover up and he got it done right. All my future work will be done by Uptown Arts. Thanks gents.

Small shop with talented artists. I love the atmosphere, it was a place they were not only professional but made you feel comfortable and experience enjoyable. Phil did an awesome on me and my friends tattoo. I love it, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Tons of laughs. Mike, the owner, was very polite and patient with my friend, who had trouble deciding where and what she wanted. He even played Beyoncé, just to kill her nerves. I will definitely recommend this shop..Im in Texas but I will be coming back! Im already spreading the word!

Mike the owner of the shop did a great job.. A true artist he made me feel comfortable through the whole process and even stayed after closing to get me in.. Very friendly and we had a great conversation..the addition to my first tattoo came out great! Also went in with two other friends of mine whose tattoos were done by Phil. He did exceptional work as well and had us laughing the whole time. Would definitely reccomend this place if your ever in the Charlotte area. The atmosphere was awesome!

Found my tattoo home in Charlotte! Mike did an absolutely amazing job at turning my disconnected passions into a coherent design that represents exactly what I wanted to convey. The artwork is beyond words. In fact, I framed the transfer paper. The ink is even better! Such talent. Furthermore, he treats you like a friend, your vision becomes his vision. He is flexible and develops a relationship with you instead of treating you as a number on his bottom line.

I cannot recommend Uptown Arts enough! Michael is smart, interesting, kind and above all TALENTED! I absolutely love my tattoo and wouldnt think twice about going back to him for any other pieces I want to get. Hes the best! And, as a side note, his colleagues are great as well! I was there for a 10 hour session and got to see their work too. There are some great artists at Uptown Arts!

Overcharged, and when my tattoo healed, there were places where he literally didnt connect basic lines. My tattoo healed horribly, and Im no newbie to getting ink. This is my 10th tattoo and by far my worst. Every appointment I made, they would reschedule, and it took forever. Would not recommend. Also IMPOSSIBLE to find this place.

Uptown arts is everything you would picture of a tattoo studio back in the 60s, but with a super clean atmosphere, and great artists! Scott did a phenomenal job on my back piece, and I got to see both Mike and Phil working while I was there, and their work is equally as good! I will certainly keep coming back!
