You can find so much great stuff here! They have all kinds of camping gear and accessories, jams and jellies, toys and games, t-shorts and other clothes, hiking sandals, backpacks, scented candles, bulk candy, nostalgic candy, jewelry, swiss army-type knives, and more. Much of it has local flair and accents. You have to stop in when you are in the area on vacation! You will find lots of stuff for both your family and friends back home and for yourself!

Retro candy by bulk alert! I think I could spend hours in the mast, and the Asheville location is no exception. I love the variety and sale items or their shoes section. Special highlights of this visit was the selection of angry (or indifferent) looking bird figurines and a mens Cologne (the yellow bottle) that reminded me of the way cheap ribbon candy smells... Like mint and cinnamon and cherry all melded and smelt into a lump of sugary goodness.

Good store for tourists, but the clothing is very overpriced. They have a good selection of Hydro Flasks and locally made Eno hammocks and accessories. I bought a pair of Oboz hiking shoes for disc golf that are working out very well. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Love the candy section upstairs! Its fun to pop in and pick out a variety of candies for a sugary craving. (The candy is displayed in barrels and priced by weight.)

We frequent the Mast General Store and its awesome outfitter shop. The staff is always happy to help, very knowledgable, and always willing to help educate. This is one of the best outfitters around with a great selection and great prices. The store itself always produces some new gem to be found, which is half the fun. Dont forget to visit the Waynesville location for shoes!

Super general store with bulk candies, brand name outdoor clothing, locally made high quality knives, household goods, gifts, and lots inbetween. Found some awesome Minnetonka moccasins on super sale, and they have a thirty day return policy so long as you dont wear the shoes outside and have your receipt... not that I will be returning them, but I might for more goodies!

They had a great variety of clothing for men and women. They also have a section in the back of the first floor dedicated to childrens toys, candy, and kitchen supplies. I love how they divided the store with the mens/womens/children apparel, toys, candy, kitchen supplies on the first floor and all the hiking/fishing/shoes on the second floor. Very organized and clean.

More for tourists than locals (and the prices reflect that), but still a fun shopping experience. I love the high quality socks and camping gear downstairs, and my kids are always eager to hit the candy barrel! The kitchen area is nice, with different and good quality kitchen implements. A fun store for that last minute gift!!

We werent prepared with gloves on our recent trip to Asheville, so we stopped in at Mast General Store. Very pleased with the selection and our purchases. The staff we worked with were very friendly and helpful. We were also please to see that they are dog friendly! They asked a dog owner if it was ok to give the dog a treat.

Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Huge selection of gear and outdoor wear along with an upstairs area full of non-essentials. My only flaw is a limited shoe selection. However, its a general store, so there is no fault here and the helpful staff makes up for it.

I am 13 right now,and when i was 5 and eversince me and mom and dad used to go here and by candy by the pound! I would get sick to my stomach eating all the sweets! I love this place it brings back so good memories and it has cool stuff for affordable prices!

Has a lot of cool stuff. I really dug all the stuff specific to the Asheville area. There is a downstairs that has shoes and outdoor accessories. Theres no elevator if you have a wheelchair or stroller. We went right when it opened and it was very busy.

A very eclectic selection awaits at the Mast general store! The prices are fair, and the atmosphere is warm. Personally, I did not buy anything, but, nonetheless, its great to view what outdoor supplies you may want to start looking for.

I love this Mast General. We lived in Boone and Ive been to the original, but the downtown Asheville location usually has a bluegrass street performance outside and they have an easy layout. The salespeople are always really nice.

What an experience! My friend from Mississippi remarked that it reminded him of home, when he was a kid. They have barrels of bulk candy by the pound, and a downstairs packed with stuff. You could spend hours at this place.

Great selection of merchandise. Some of it can be a little pricey, but a great store nonetheless. Bought a really nice, locally made, pewter Christmas tree ornament for the upcoming holidays.
