Ive been shopping at Microcenter for years at locations in the DC area. More recently the Yonkers location because its the closest one to me now that I live in Stamford. I can tell you first hand that this is the WORST location Ive experienced. I recently visited this location as I was doing work for a client in the Greenwich area. I went to microcenter to pickup a serial to USB adapter. I went back to my clients site to discover that the box was empty. No big deal right, Ill drive back from Greenwich to Yonkers and explain to them what happened. I went back to microcenter frustrated and explained to them what happened. I walked up to the counter and the rep who was sitting at the counter did not acknowledge me at first, probably because she was watching netflix on her laptop. Very professional. Im sure my clients wouldnt mind me watching netflix while im on the job either. Anyhow, after she had finally noticed me waiting in line (i was the only one in line) she asked me what the issue was. I explained it to her. She immediately called the customer service manager, Zach, to come out and take a look. I explained to him my situation and what had happened. Without saying anything, he disappeared with the empty box and my receipt for about 10 minutes and then returned. He began to process something on his computer at which point I asked him what the resolution was, he said he was processing a return. I explained to him that i needed the cable to finish the job that I was doing and that id prefer to actually get the cable rather then them process a return. He rudely said you can go get the cable and come back over here and well swap it out. I went to the aisle, got the cable, and went back. I explained to him how inconvenient this was as i had to sit in traffic on the way back here due to them not checking their inventory and that this is the second time that Ive bought something from them with pieces / parts missing. He didnt acknowledge me at all and just did the bare minimum. This really annoyed me coming from a customer service background, especially because his job is to make sure customers are happy and leave with the intent of returning. Needless to say Im done with this location. While this was taken care in a matter of minutes, the fact no one cares about me as a customer is somewhat bothersome given the fact that Ive spent a lot of money at Microcenter and have even gone as far as bringing my clients with me to the store for their IT needs. This is not the first occurrence of bad customer service from this location, last time it was with a printer. I bought an open box printer from them and nothing was included, no cords, ink, or user manual, but the rep insured me that nothing will be needed. I went back to return the product and customer support didnt extend an apology or even suggest a replacement or solution. Im glad I drive a hybrid though, Stamford to Yonkers is no short trip, but thats okay now since ill be either going to best buy or amazon/ newegg. Plenty of online retailers that do a much better job then this place. Im done with microcenters terrible staff and inconsistency as a store. Its not worth my time anymore to drive here from Stamford, and in the future if i need something that i cant get at best buy, then id much rather pay amazon or new egg and wait a few days. At least with them you get the product that you pay for, and you dont have to deal with incompetent and uncaring managers. Hopefully microcenter decides to open a location in CT sometime in the future. Until that day comes, i will not be returning to Yonkers or recommending this location going forward.

I am very impressed with Microcenter Yonkers store, everything from the employees to the incredible deals makes ones shopping experience excellent. First of all, the store layout is excellent. Upon entering Microcenter, the knowledge center and in-store pickup are easily accessible. At the front, common items such as mice/keyboards can be found, while the real goodies (graphics cards, processors) are located a bit further. Pre-built computers also have their own area at the other side of the store, and consoles are relegated to the back corner :P Then, product selection is amazing. Even in terms of commonplace items, Microcenters selection dwarfs whatever you can find at your local Best Buy or similar store, with dozens upon dozens of different types of each item (keyboards, USB drives, cables, headsets) available. And of course, the selection of PC building components is immense, with everything from entry graphics cards to the enthusiast-grade 780 Ti and R9 290X models being available, and a great selection of motherboards, processors, memory, cooling equipment... Microcenter has it all if youre looking to build a PC. Then, the staff are pretty knowledgeable and friendly, they will not try to force products down your throat or rip you off and instead will guide you towards the best deals they currently have. They even let me open and inspect a motherboard for bent pins on the socket before purchasing it. Finally, the in-store pickup for online orders is very smooth, with items being ready on a shelf and quickly available so if youre in a rush, there will be no excessive wait (but I recommend taking a look around the store, lots of interesting things to be found). All in all, an amazing experience, would shop there again but I have literally everything I need for my PC now.

This review might change, as I still need to deal with them, but I called not too long ago and was very dissatisfied with my telephone experience. I called to ask about options regarding an issue I was facing and spoke to a sales associate. I didnt catch her name, but I think it started with an S. Granted, there was nothing she could do to help me with my issue, but instead of trying to find ways to help, making me think she was trying to help or even cared, she just kept repeating store policy, as if she was a robot. No empathy, no trying to help my situation, nothing. Customer service means a lot to me - Im not saying that the customer is always right (theyre not), but I called looking for help, and I got a reaction that felt like I was wasting her time. Im usually a very patient, easy going person, so for her to have upset me this much is quite remarkable. I think Micro Center will be the leader in the computer sales industry, if theyre not already, but if my experience is representative of their business practices, Ill refuse to deal with them again. Ill need to go to their store to buy something I cant get anywhere else, so I might update this if its positive, but if my experience is similar to this, Ill refuse to buy the product and Ill never deal with them again, even if someday they become the only store that sells computers.

Theyre a great place. The employees do their jobs thats super imperative in any place you go and actually get back to you when theyre supposed to. They solved all mine and my dads computer problems even if they couldnt Id still give them at least 4 stars. I used them for my Dell Laptop, my dads HP Laptop-personal and work (2 separate laptops). Theyre store is huge and full of all the electronics you need. Plus, theres convenient parking, in the mall near food stands and other shopping needs. I had a nightmare experience at RSA Computer, then came here and it was night and day. Seriously, I cant emphasize this enough. Theyre a great shop and helped me out big time and then my dad. They are pricey Im not denying that, but Id drive all the way from Dobbs Ferry (35 min.) any time to have them help me even against crazy highway drivers and I really hate driving. Theyre absolutely worth it; theyre my computer people. Youve earned my business even though I dont live in NY anymore. I havent used many computer places, but theyre amazing. Use them, spend the $ even if its expensive; you dont have to worry about any bullshit headaches like calling your computer people 200x to get a status update, which drove me absolutely bonkers. Seriously, theyre the place; youve got my review take it or leave it, but youre making a mistake not taking them.
