This review is for South Shore Opt, in Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream, NY. I bought my glasses from their cart "Eye Buys" outside Victoria Secrets. It took almost two weeks for my of pair of discounted glasses at $350.00 to arrive. Idk about others but this is a great amount of money even though I pay $600 in insurance every month but the glasses that are provided for insurances look horrible. So I paid full out of pocket. The glasses arrived with HUGE spaces in between the lenses and the frame on both sides. The white hair headed older man w glasses cheerfully helped me picked them out but quickly caught an attitude when I complained about them. He walked away angerly at the time now I know why he was the one who put the lenses in. After another two weeks to replace the lenses after they attempted to fix them in house failed. New lenses were ordered I later found out. So why today October 4, the same problem.. Now I have been very accommodating, patience and calm after paying in full and waiting a month for my glasses. The spaces between the lenses and frame are still so apparent - standing right there At the cart I stick a corner of a piece of paper right through to the other side. Heres where it goes bad to worst I walked over to South Shore, walking up to the counter and before I could open my mouth the white hair headed gentlemen and I use this term loosely comes over to me and says with an attitude whats my problem now! What! Ok. Now its on!! Excuse you! He was rude disrespectful and unprofessional and proceeded to tell me, at there cost they replaced the lenses, Um yeah, because you guys broke them.That I could take my business else where, that he didnt care if I stuck 3 sheets of paper through the glasses he was not going to fix nothing else and said he was through talking to me and that he has been in this business for 40 years and the Boss!!! As another women, I later learned was the co manger or boss ( she did not reveil that at the time) proceeded to answer my questions. As white hair headed man, now returned from the back room to tell me nothings wrong with my glasses yelling and screaming! Im like wth I thought you were through w me now this lady is helping me!!! Never in my life!! Ever again will I ever use or refer this business after using it for many years at that!!! If this is how you treat returning customers... Im just disgusted.

This is really one of the worst places to shop for glasses and I do not understand why they are even still open after the horrible service you get. My mom had a change in prescription and she needed to get prior approval from her insurance. When she went it at first, she asked them to call the insurance and they would work it out. They did not want to, so we called the insurance and Health First took care of it. They said they would call when they get the approval, which never happened. I had to call to find out that they would only change the lens. A few days later we got a letter from the insurance company stating that my mom was approved for lenses and frame. Yet South Shore Opticians only wanted to change the lenses. We went in with the letter and the lady taking care of us could not believe that the letter said frames as well. She called the insurance and interrogated the representative as to why my mother was getting frames as well. We were right there and heard the conversation. I felt as if they had to pay the insurance bill. I have never seen such horrible actions by a person who has nothing to do with the insurance. She insisted that the representative tell her the reason for getting frame as well. It was very much a shame and if my mother did not need it and didnt want to have the insurance to another approval somewhere else I would have been out of there. There is nothing good about this store. We even had to call back to find out if the glasses was ready since they did not. The glasses case given is a waste, the 99cents store sells better. They are the worst store at this mall and Green Acres should throw them out as soon as possible. They are bringing the mall down.

I purchased some glasses for my child at the location. I liked the work and the service so I came back to pick up 2 pairs of glasses for myself and contacts for my other child. We received service on 9/14. My daughter and I both had eye exams and I picked out my glasses and she was fitted for the contacts. I made a $378 deposit and was told to come back next weekend for the glasses. I come back 9/21 only to find a shell of a store. I told the clerks that I was there to pick up prescriptions for both my daughter and myself and was told they were closed. I asked for how long and I inquired as to why the customers were not notified as Sunday is my only day off and the store is far from my home. One of the clerks said my items were ready and she would drop them off to me at my work. They took my number and said they would make arrangements for drop off on Weds, 9/24. I didnt receive a phone call and went back to the location to get my items on 9/28 and the location was completely boarded up in the mall. I went to the mall help desk and they said they were renovating and would be open the next week. I was there again 10/5 and they were still closed and the mall information kiosk had no information. Im not sure why this seemingly reputable company that had been there for years has up and disappeared. I would like the items I paid for. This is outrageous. I would like either the glasses with our written out prescriptions, or my money refunded and my insurance claim reversed so I can procure eyeglasses/contacts elsewhere. I will be escalating this to the Better Business Bureau and any other measures I can find.

worst optical store in valley stream they took advantage bcoz they only accepts insurance in neighbour hood .I went store for my son glasses and i request it is emergency so plz a/s/p lady call some body and make sure and she said OK u will come Saturday any time and i went sat 1 lady came after 20 minute and she said we dont got delivery you will come on Tuesday .She dont say any sorry or excuse .Then i went Tuesday 2 oclock one guy is there he look like owner he check and he say same thing we dont received delivery he dont say sorry or excuse and he say why you dont call us before coming i say no body say me call first then he stand other side and same lady came and she say u use your phone why you dont use your phone and every one laugh and say you come later i say what time i will come they say use your phone and call before coming they all soooooooooooooooooooo rude no one say any sorry

Straight up unprofessional. The Asian woman who does the eye exams is so quick to get you out, she gave me the wrong prescription. The woman at the desk, by luck she lifts her head to even help you. They told my mother she needed to get cataract surgery in order for Medicare to cover her glasses. The only thing, MY MOTHER DOESNT HAVE CATARACTS!! They will rip you off every chance they get. I give them no stars. Dont even waste your time.
