I brought in a very difficult item to frame. I went to the framing department for a consultation. Tobias helped me and was absolutely fantastic. He and Manny, the manager, talked about the best way to frame my piece. Then, Tobias started selecting frame options. There were a few good ones but above my budget. Tobias was tireless and came up with an amazing solution and one that I could afford. His sense of color and style is great. He picked the perfect frame. The rest of the transaction was seamless. My art was ready early and the recipient loved it. I will go back with any framing that I need to do and I will be sure to work with Tobias, since he is exceptional.

The store has an excellent selection and carried exactly what I needed, but my general experience with the staff was that they were reluctant to be helpful. I came to get a custom matt done and they told me I had to come back another day because the computers were down and they were short-staffed. Within a few minutes someone else said the computers were back up and I got what I needed. Not a big deal. Then, when I went to check out I asked if they had a teachers discount (most stores like this do). They said they did , but then rushed me through the check out and did not offer it to me. All in all, wasnt crazy about the customer service or the prices.

On my first visit to this store, I was overcharged by several dollars when a sale item did not ring up at sale price. Tonight, I was paying closer attention and sure enough, some canvas boards marked $1.00 came up as $1.20. This increased the total sale on my receipt by 14%! Before signing my credit card receipt, I mentioned the price difference to the cashier and she refunded me the difference on the spot. It felt very much like this was common practice...over-charge and then refund the difference if the customer says something. The difference in price wasnt questioned or looked into, she just did the refund. I feel like this place is a total scam.

A.I. Friedman is a favorite art supply store because of the consistent attentive service, the extensive assortment of products, and the store is immaculate. On my visit this week, Tony Wilkinson located the leather drafting chair I needed, brought it from storage, and provided a hand cart for wheeling the two boxes to my SUV. The sample on the floor met my specifications; the transaction took no more than five minutes. I received service with a smile. Thank you!

You would think by the looks of it that this is a national chain, but they only have two locations in the whole country! One in NYC and this one. If youre only familiar with Michaels, definitely check it out here because they have a much better selection with great prices and great employees. I would say its twice as good as Michaels, especially if youre shopping for picture frames.

Really good craft store, I like it better than Michaels. Its big so be prepared to hunt around. I wish they had more options for photo albums. Cheery staff and convenient location.
