People are always like "this theme park made me feel like a kid again" or "this candy store makes me feel carefree as when I was a child." I never really understood that, because when I was a kid the world was straight up terrifying. Everyone on earth was larger than, stronger than, and deeply confusing to me. Like when do you actually even get beaten up past childhood? So stepping in this candy/ice cream shop, which is arguably the finest place to get desserts on the entire UES, I felt like a full-on adult. Like a person faced with numerous high-quality choices, as well as the insight to know how excellent the choices are. Odd Fellows and Laboratoria Del Gelato ice cream, Underwest Donuts, absurd vintage candy, sick service. Its all good here. Obviously, get ready for some long-ass lines but you were probably already expecting that. Get live on this place you beautiful, beautiful adult.

Not serious about food allergies. I am allergic to gluten. I used to be a regular but wont be returning because I was served a supposedly gluten/dairy free cookie dough ice cream which was labeled gluten free on the menu and I confirmed with the person serving it that it was gluten free, only to overhear the owner saying that it wasnt gluten free... after I had just finished it. He said they didnt know if it was and were waiting to find out. If thats the case, then dont label it as gluten free on your menu and dont instruct your staff to say that it is - say "we dont know" and someone with an allergy like myself will avoid it. I cant eat anywhere that I cant trust the staff to give me accurate and honest information, so I wont be returning. Which is a shame. This is a great place if you dont have any food allergies. As someone who does, I cant review it highly.

This was my first experience here and so I had a few questions, as I do with anything new. The guy behind the counter wasnt so friendly when I asked him for some samples but for $6.00 Im making sure I like the Ice cream I purchase!! My mom is ill and I wanted to make sure that 2 scoops wasnt too much for her to handle so I asked if I could watch them put my ice cream together. He sarcastically says, "sorry but we are a fast placed business, 1 scoop is 1 scoop". As he was saying this to me I saw the girl scoop my ice cream into the takeout container so at this point i was offended. Unbelievable how ignorant ppl can be!!! Dude, you are such a dick!! You probably live a miserable life and Im sorry for you. Yeah you were finally friendly upon my exit but it doesnt make up for your ignorance. Im sure Im not the only one you treated so poorly.

Man oh man, never before have I ever been to an ice cream parlor with a bouncer before! I dare say this place could be considered the Ice Cream Nazi. Bulky, bald-headed man greeted me from behind his podium outside the front door, directing me to wait in line for entry. The shop is so small, they limit the number of people who are in at one time so it doesnt get too crowded. Make sure you get a paper menu when you get in the door, the menu on the wall is hard to see behind the shelving! And you better have your order ready when you get to the front of the line...serve em quick and get em out! Great flavors and variety, but a bit pricey ($6 for 2 small scoops, if I recall). Though the toasted marshmallow was flavorful, it tasted a bit like plastic; dark chocolate was to die for. Certainly full of character and an interesting experience!

The Sweet Shop is hands down one of my favorite "mom and pop" businesses. Not only do they carry the highest quality chocolate, donuts, and ice cream you could ever imagine, but theyre also run and staffed by some of the sweetest (pun intended) people I have been privileged enough to meet. I highly recommend the chocolate covered gummy bears, but you cant go wrong with anything you pick up in the store. And, if you have a moment, be sure to ask them the story behind how and why they started their business.

There is nothing in the world worth being treated badly for. After waiting in line and witnessing a handful of customers accosted with rules and being told no for what seemed like basic requests for an ice cream shop, we left. We provided feedback to what seemed like "the guy in charge" and he presented a similar attitude. Do yourself a favor and spend your money at a shop that doesnt take itself so serious and has the time to speak to customers with kindness and respect.

The candy and ice cream are amazing. I loved the coffee crunch ice cream in the pretzel cone. The Peanutbutter icecream, which I am eating right now is delicious. The bacon covered in chocolate and peanut butter was the best! The owners are very nice, giving, and knowledgeable about sweets. I will come back my next time in New York.

Amazing Experience met the owner, he was knowledgeable about all of the candy in the store, treated me to some very exquisite chocolate and had the best Mango Ice Cream on the Planet... Definitely worth the time to get a taste of heaven before you get there... Check it out TODAY!

This place is the best. Great candy & ice cream, and wonderful service. Found this place while staying at the Ronald McDonald house across the street. All the kids here love the Sweet Shop and the employees are so good with the kids. Would give them over five stars if I could.

Really yummy banana pudding flavor come and the little one went ballistic when he saw the snow cones. However, its very small and a line forms quickly outside. In the interest of keeping the line down, the fellow at the counter was pretty brash and seemed really stressed out.

A whimsically decorated candy shop offering a wide selection of sweets from all over the world. As an added bonus, they offer a rotating menu of gelato from il laboratorio del gelato. Dont forget to bring your ID badge; hospital employees get a discount.

The $13 smores sundae is totally worth it. Excellent selection of old time candy and exotic candy bars. Employees were over the top nice. There was a small line when we got there on a Friday night, but I now understand why! Will be going back very soon

MOST AMAZING DESSERT STORE IN NEW YORK CITY! Fantastic premium and unique ice creams. Always take the owners suggestions, he has never led me wrong. Even the wackiest suggestions turn out to be the best combinations. Go here its great!

If you love good candy, this is the best store Ive found in the City. Luckily, I live on the UES, but if I moved to another part of town, I would still go to the Sweet Shop. Much cleaner than your Dylans and much higher quality.

Cute sweet shop with yummy candy and chocolate selection. The ice cream is great. However its on the expensive side and I have mixed feelings about the manager... saw him treating the staff so poorly that made me feel embarassed.
