I used to love this location. The foods great and the employees were friendly; however, the last few times I went, I placed my order with an employee named Chris (spiky faux-hawk hair, tattoos), and Ive never had somebody be so rude to me in my entire life FOR NO REASON-- I literally simply ordered my food, didnt ask annoying questions or say anything rude myself (I never would, I consider myself to be a nice, polite person). However, he rolled his eyes at me the entire time, wouldnt make eye contact, acted angry that I didnt tip him (why in the world would I tip somebody with no manners whatsoever?). Nothing too bad but certainly not the most pleasant, comfortable experience. But the last time I went in with a couple friends, I had an unbelievably terrible experience. My friend ordered first and as she walked away, she told him to "have a nice day", which he responded by death glaring her the entire time she walked away, then rolled his eyes, said "whatever" in a nasty tone, then proceeded to glare at me, hostile and angry. In disbelief, I said, "What did you say?" and he then told ME that I needed to "calm down" and that he will say whatever he wants. Shocked, I went straight to the counter and asked to speak to the manager. The shift manager asked me what was wrong and I explained to her that the cashier had been so incredibly rude to me and my friends. She apologized and tried to tell me that he was having a "bad day", which I told her I understood but unfortunately it was not the first time hes been rude to me. She told me to come back in the morning to speak to the manager. I really do understand if somebody is having a bad day; however, that is no excuse whatsoever to speak to a customer the way he did. I work in customer service and if I EVER spoke to somebody the way he did, I would be fired. ATROCIOUS!

The coffee is great and as a coffee snob, I like the selections they offer - this is how I would select coffee for a coffee shop. I also love their cakes. Usually the cake part of the cake or cupcake is where I have to take off points - the cake is just as important as the frosting, but this place has the caked nailed, even better than some of the frostings Ive tried here - this impresses me very much. Im less impressed with the help. Two days in a row, from two different people I was given the wrong cake; the blueberry cake has a blueberry on it. When I get my food to go I always have to ask for a plastic fork for my salad - most of the time they try to point me to the metal silverware and I have to point out Im holding a to-go box and I dont want to steal their silverware.

How hard is it to provide wireless Internet? Came here in July...Internet was slower than dial-up, and intermittently lost connection. Mentioned to staff who seemed to think it was no big deal. Came again in September to get some work done, and find that once again, internet is unworkable. Seriously, theres only two things they need to get right in a place like this - decent coffee (maybe some baked stuff) and good wireless...and these people arent motivated enough to fix an issue which is one of the main draws (or so you would think). Walk on by this place if youre looking for wireless. Another epic example of absolute indifference to the customer experience. Starbucks, please come to Elmwood soon! These people are obviously just a little too comfortable with mediocrity.

Several years back, 2012-2013, while in Amherst on a project, I discovered the Elmwood & Cleveland Spot, upbeat, characters galore, a menagerie of outrageous cakes, cookies, cinnamon twists, fare from the kitchen with just, or more than enough pizzazz to make your future forget the past debacles youd had...all just awaiting your choice of vessel carrying a beverage to strike the bell. A most eclectic, articulate, cast for crew on deck, good laughs, thoughtful comments, a few words pleasantly turned...and whenever back in town the point is made to arrive for another breath of this&their vital ambrosia. I have a love/hate relationship with this place. The staff, atmosphere, and loose tea are great hence the couple of stars that I was willing to give but the prices and coffee arent all that great. Dont even get me started on the WIFI. I actually sent an email to Spots customer service telling them that the WIFI is terrible. She explained to me that she had a tech come out and check it. He said it was working. I told her that its not that it doesnt work, its that the signal is terrible and only works in a couple of spots no matter how busy it is. She didnt bother with a response. Not surprised.

Well, since I just got down writing a horrible review for Dolce Bakery (dont EVER go there) - I feel like I need to prove Im not a jerk and I want to write a good review (Its funny how we tend to only leave reviews when were ticked off). ANYWAY... SPOT IS A W E S O M E! Especially when they have their "Healthy Vegan Blueberry Muffins" in the deli case. They are willing to work with me when it comes to ordering vegan items - even if it means substituting this or that. They rule. As much as I cannot stand the experience I had with Dolce Bakery - I LOVE everything about Spot coffee.

This is one of my favorite places to grab a bite to eat for brunch or breakfast. It can be pretty busy sometimes but its a fairly large location with a lot of seating. Also, the patio is top notch for some outside eating and drinking. Im not a huge specialty coffee drinking but their selection is huge. The decor is definitely super comforting. If you ever need to have a group project that needs doing or if youve got to meet a partner of sorts, this is the perfect place. And if youre just looking for a place with less distractions than your home to do work, you cant go wrong here.

Consistently a great place to meet friends or start a relationship, this casual and cool cafe is large and open. The atmosphere here is a classic urban coffee house generally scattered with readers, artists, writers and people just talking. Its one of those great places to relax, keep your phone in your pocket and have an actual conversation. The menu is diverse and afforable featuring muffins, wraps and focaccia as well as drinks ranging from standard java drinks to smoothies. Seasonally, its a great place to sit outside and people watch on Buffalos active Elmwood Strip.

I love this place. Im avid coffee drinker, but I dont like american coffee. I like my espresso with hot milk! Well my options are Starbucks and well nothing else, until I discovered spot. The coffee is WAY better than Starbucks!! Yes, you may have to wait just a little, but when you see your lattee with a leaf or a flower (made using the milk) you will feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I personally dont hangout there, but I love their cheesecake, brownies and sandwiches!

Its pretty much just okay. Service is uneven. For example, the guy who took my order today was pleasant and down to earth. The other people on staff were all either rude, inattentive, impatient, snobby, or confused. Cajun turkey wrap was good, but all in all, just not worth their prices. Crowded, expensive and just all around not worth it. Sorry to the counter dude who was trying his best to pull off the ambiance they were going for.
