Terrible Terrible company!!! Came here because my boyfriends car was in desperate need of tire changes. We had known for a little while that the car needed more work but didnt think it was something too serious. I did tell him that if Pepboys called and said we needed to change something by the front passenger side (where the noise was coming from) that we should change it and get it over with. Come to find it it was a bad wheel barring that could be moved with the mechanics "pinky" because it was so bad. They charged in total $890 for tire change and to replace wheel barring. Fast forward a month my boyfriend tells me he does not feel safe driving to work in his car because the noise in the front passenger side sounds like something is broken. He had also been telling that it doesnt sound like anything was done, but i dismissed it by saying something else must be wrong with car. So we swap cars for the day and i am shocked at how bad the noise is. I took his car to a local mechanic who said none of the wheel barrings on the car had been changed and in fact he could move the barring on the front side with his finger! He also was able to move the tire side to side because it was so lose. I brought the car back to Pepboys with the receipt to inform them that nothing was changed on the car and wanted a refund. After arguing with the front desk person I requested to speak with a manger about the situation. I also asked for corporate number. The regional manager checked the car and informed me that the wheel barring was indeed in pretty bad shape and that i could not drive home in the car because it was not safe. I told them they never changed the wheel barring. He insisted they did and that he just saw on his computer the video footage of the mechanic fixing the problem. All the while he was having this conversation he never offered to show me the video on his labtop which was in front of him. He said it seemed as though the barring "blew out". Such bullshit. To compensate for the inconvenience this has been they offered to change the front control arm and ordered a piece (hub) that was needed to change the wheel barring at no cost to us. Ill be sure to bring the car back to the local mechanic to check on the work. If its not done a lawsuit will be filed. This company could of cost several people their lives for not doing the work we paid for a while ago.

Do not go here!!!! Save yourself a headache because this store is a mess! Purchased 4 tires, along with the installation and set up an apt for my wife to bring it here after she got out of work. Upon getting to Pep Boys, they informed her that the two back tire nuts are swollen, and wanted to charge her another $250 to take them off!!! They then informed her they do not have the staff or tools to do this job! We live in Buffalo NY....we get snow, it gets cold....what do you expect?? On top of that, they told her they didnt have the time to keep trying....thats why I set up an appointment in the first place!!!!! Then they told her she could get refunded the labor money for the back two tires, but had no one in the store to do this either!!! I repeatedly called for 45 min - 1 hr and could not reach a single person. Every time I called, I sat on hold for 15 min before I hung up, or got hung up on. Finally called main part of the store, and he transferred me to someone who picked up the phone, breathed in it for a min, then also hung up. I called back again and asked for a manager and he specifically said "I am one, whats up". Unprofessional jokes here! I have been a customer of this Pep Boys for approx. 18 yrs, as long as I could drive, and have slowly watched this location decline in quality, and today is the epitome of horrible service and an unorganized, dysfunctional business. It is sad because I have had loyalty up to this point. My wife ended up sitting there over 2 hrs and left without the back tires installed, and no resolution! To top it all off, they kept her two back tires, and supposedly "lost the receipt" and had to print a new one, not the original with both receipts! I am done with Pep Boys and will not go back to this unprofessional company of seemingly amateurs! If I could rate it lower than a 1, I would. The end.

After reading all the poor reviews on Google, I decided to take my car into the Pep Boys shop on Elmwood anyway. Prior to dropping my car off, the man who I spoke with on the phone was very knowledgable and told me he would be able to replace the starter on my car after conducting a few tests. Having read that starter replacements can cost well over $300 (part + labor), I was prepared for a relatively large hit on my wallet. The Pep Boys on Elmwood closes at 9:00PM. I dropped my car off at 6:30PM on a day that was very busy. Although the replacement normally would only take an hour, I was expecting to have to leave my car at the shop overnight. The man I had spoken to on the phone ensured me it would be completed that night. I came back closer to 9:00 and the car was not done yet. The workers ended up staying until 9:30 to finish my car (30 min. after closing time). When I cashed out, I was only charged for half an hour of labor and the total came to $210. The staff were very professional and its easy to see that there is a lot of unity at the shop (like what you would expect from a small-town auto shop) ONLY PROBLEM: The T.V. was playing "Off Their Rockers" and the TV was too high above the ground for customers to change the channel manually. If you like Betty White, this is not a problem. If you have a universal remote, again, this is not a problem. Overall Grade: A

I have been going to Pepboys for close to 2 years now for an oil change. I have always asked for 10/40 oil and the associates assured me that I was going to receive the oil that I requested. Previous to this visit when I checked my receipt my receipt stated they had put 5/30 oil after I specifically requested for 10/40 oil. I asked the Associate by the name of Marcus and his exact words were “we are unable to put 10/40 on the receipt, but maintenance put 10/40 in your car.” This previous trip I was informed that they were unable to put 10/40 in my car because my car called for 5/30 oil. I then told the associate that my previous visits they put 10/40 oil in my car and he assured me that they did not. He then asked why would I put 10/40 in my vehicle, and I told him it’s because my car has over 150k miles and he still would not do the oil change. I am not angry at this associate at all; however, I am upset with the previous associates that lied to me, instead of stating that they would not be able to service my vehicle, so I could take my business elsewhere. Checkout was great. The associate actually informed me of a sale that they were having and I got two 5.1QT and two oil filters for $14 only. Sadly to say after my previous visit to Pepboys I will no longer be shopping at Pepboys because of the associates that lied instead of telling me the truth.
