Edit: Not sure why I cant respond to the owner. I simply came here to state my opinion and feel a bit uncomfortable/personally attacked by getting such a long/detailed response, its almost like scaring off people to voice their opinion if its anything other than totally positive. As a business, everything should be taken into consideration. For the price and such, one would expect both a comfortable atmosphere (which is subjective for everyone) as well as quality artistic work. The response I got just comes off as very snarky, which again doesnt help my impression of this place. I dont think anyone would like it if they asked for something specifically and got something totally different. Ive talked to people after this incident and it seems like not everyone has had a positive experience, either, so I recount saying "I seem to be the only one whos had a bad experience with this place despite its good reviews-online and from friends". One person in particular said she got a tattoo on her ankle but the original artist messed it up, so several people had to work to fix it, prolonging the process. The good words I did get were from 2 people, both of whom got their first tattoo here that was fairly simple so they arent able to compare it to other places which makes for a very limited review/opinion. Also I was unfortunate enough to have my appointment be on the same day as the Bernie Sanders rally in Albany. This caused roads to be blocked off even though I left my house at a reasonable time. To be considerate, I called the staff and let them know I was running late and all I got was "ok". Then I came to the shop and was told by Kirby that I have to be rescheduled. Thats fine but thats something I shouldve been told on the phone as well. That in addition to finding out my tattoo design would be different than what I actually asked for is what makes me call this "unprofessional". Even after I came to my appointment and talked to someone twice, it took 15 minutes for Kirby to actually come out and talk to me. So yeah. I waited 15 minutes just to find out Id have to be going home. I also would feel kind of uncomfortable being tattooed right next to someone I dont even know, and its cramped as soon as you walked in and dark. I didnt mean "dingy" to allude to health standards, thats just the vibe I got. Review: I seem to be the only one whos had a bad experience with this place despite its good reviews-online and from friends. The first time I came in I noticed how small the waiting room is. The space is cramped when you walk in and its pretty dark and dingy. It also takes a while for the staff to notice you and ask what you need. The people were friendly enough and I showed a picture of the tattoo I wanted and explained I didnt want a single thing changed about it. I spoke to Kirby and he said he could do it. I make an appointment, for over 2 weeks later, and put in the $50 deposit. Come time for appointment day and I come into the shop and Kirby shows me his drawing of the tattoo design. It looks totally different from the picture I showed *and* emailed to him and he told me "Im not going to copy another tattoo. Id rather just give your money back than copy someone elses design." Isnt that something I shouldve been told before I even gave the deposit and made the appointment? It was extremely unprofessional. He changed the design without even letting me know or getting my approval. If Im paying $160 per hour for 2 hours to get a tattoo thats on my body forever, it should be done exactly as I ask. If I had known he would refuse to do the tattoo how I wanted, I wouldve just taken my business elsewhere. Unprofessional staff, dingy/cramped space, and expensive rates. I would rather go back to Tom Spaulding where I got my first tattoo for $50 and that took an hour and the people are very accommodating and friendly. 2 stars only because I was given my deposit money back. Pretty disappointing but its probably for the best.

My Experience was bad. I really dont wanna give any stars. The representative was extremely rude on the phone. She is taken Business away from The tattoo artist. I will never recommend or return.(Stay away) My experience was not Pleasant.I went in to weeks ago to get Eric the artist to add Vines to a previous tattoo that I had. Eric started the tattoos and We didnt finish coloring one side of the Rose. I paid the full amount and I was told to come back after it heals to get it colored in and, was told before I just pop up please call in Advance to see if they can fit me in so I called in Two week and a half later. I was speaking to women representative on the morning shift her name is (Nai )want me to pay another $60 to schedule appointment to get my tattoo finished which I had already paid $200 for the tattoo that havent even got colored yet the representative was extremely rude to me shes been rude to me every since Ive been going there. I have got multiple things done by this artist. Im very not happy with the outcome I will never go back . Unfinished $200 tattoo which is Clearly visible. Ive gotten a couple of stuff done with Eric the Artist he is amazing unfortunately we had an agreement to complete. This representative wanted another payment from me and the payment is non refundable. That the only way I can come in which is WRONG SHE SHOULD NOT Work HERE if SHE WILL BE NASTY AND RUDE TO COMING BACK CUSTOMERS. I WILL NOT GO BACK BECAUSE OF THIS WOMEN I WILL HAVE MY UNFINISHED WORK THANK YOU LADY FOR RUNNING AWAY BUSINESS From THE ARTISTS. ERIC I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH YOU I WILL NO LONGER GO TO LARK STREET tattoo again.

This place is top notch. They are very professional but work in a nice relaxed atmosphere. Everything was clean, orderly, done carefully. I came in and spoke to the artist a few days prior to my tattoo appointment, worked out details about the tattoo, and I just got home from my appointment. The work Geoff did is superb. He took his time, and at the same time was very efficient. I could really tell that he wanted to invest his best work in this tattoo and the final product showed- looks better than I had imagined. Will be going here for any future tattoos while in Albany and recommending to anyone I know looking for a place. -Ricky

I got my first tattoo here and I was extremely nervous. I didnt know where to really go or what to expect from a good place. But I got an extremely good price for my first tattoo and the artist was super nice and worked well with me to make sure I was comfortable and happy with the drawing since we had to change my idea around. My artist was Mel, and she did a great job of making sure I liked the way it looked and the area it was in. I was super comfortable there and I couldnt have asked for a better first experience. Everyone there is so friendly and I highly recommend this place.
