I recall when I could walk into a thrift store and expect to find some sort of treasure every time I dug through the piles of other peoples rubbish... but I fear that those days are a thing of the past. Perhaps people today are less inclined to toss their high quality goods to the masses but it has been a long time since Ive found a thrift store that delivers the way I remember. Thrift Town is no different. Ill concede that the layout is slightly more appealing than Goodwill or Salvation Army but there is very little difference in the quality or amount of stuff youll find here. You think youre going to find a nice used Hugo Boss blazer buried beneath the other polyester rags? Dream on. I wouldnt have such a problem with this if prices were reflective of the quality of stuff you are finding. However, how do you justify paying $9 for a button-down dress shirt when you can go to Kohls and find the exact same one brand new for only a dollar or two more? To me this doesnt add up. There is no thrift to be found in thrift stores any more. Of the areas I perused, only the picture frames section had more than youd find in other stores and those werent especially cheap or good quality. The mens clothing was expensive and in poor condition, but the saddest section was the books which may have had a decent selection but wasnt organized at all so it made searching for a good read nearly impossible. Book prices were fair but youd have to spend 2 hours straining your eyes to find something that interests you.

The place to go! I have been looking for cardigans for work and I went to Savers and Goodwill and found myself walking out with nothing, I mean 8 dollars for a used cardigan? No thank you! I walked in and was immediately greeted by staff and was checked on every 15-20 minutes. As I was shopping I noticed the prices were AWESOME. The most expensive cardigan that I found was 6 dollars. I also found one for 99 cents! I found 3 cardigans for a total of 9 dollars. I was in disbelief so of course, I kept shopping! I went to the mens section and found a long trench coat made of 100% wool for 20 dollars which was a good price for the quality, those retail 100 and up. But, there was a missing button (and no extra buttons attached) So when I approached the register I asked for the item to be discounted (I was expecting no more than 10%) and I was given a $10 coupon! Not only did I get a $10 dollar coupon, she scanned it and handed it back to me and said I could use it for next time, she also handed me 2 coupon booklets for the next year! I also joined as a VIP member (free) and was told I would receive more coupons through email. The store was well taken care of, friendly staff and they sure kept up with the rack maintenance. The only thing that I found disappointing is that they have a sale date for color coded items. The yellow was 80% off and I didnt come across any yellow marked items. Like, at all. But all in all I saved a ton of money!

Who has two thumbs and is Thrift Towns biggest fan? This place is the absolute best! I love to bring friends here and have treasure hunts for cool stuff; whether I go alone or with other people, its hard for me to walk out without finding something that I love. Yesterday, I went in looking for a receiver for my turntable, and left with a brand new stereo for $25 (literally brand new--I think it had just been taken out of the box and never used). Theres something for everybody here--antiques, clothes, furniture, you name it. They have a ton of awesome books, VHS tapes, DVDs, and any other type of media you can think of. Their prices are great, and every week, a portion of the merchandise is half-price depending on the color of its tag. The staff there is friendly, kind, and always helpful. Ive only ever had one problem, a few months ago, when I bought this rad vintage-y lamp. It said it had been tested and that it worked, but when I brought it home, it actually didnt. It was a quick fix after a trip to the hardware store, and now my house is the best decorated place on the block. Now that I know where the power outlets are in the store, its easier for me to verify for myself--not that Ive had any problems since. 5 stars for Thrift Town!

On the upside this thrift shop is well organized, clothing sorted by size and color, other items clean and neat and easy to find on shelves. The lines at the register tend to be long, but they go pretty quickly most the time. They have a great selection of books and bedding. Staff are friendly, and their daily sale prices can be good if you can find the color coded tags. On the downside it can be hard to find the color coded tags for the sales. Their prices are often higher than whats reasonable - a sharp change from a few years ago when I could find a good deal. When all your goods are donated to you Im not certain it makes great business sense to hike the prices so high that those who have less money cant afford to buy the items. Parking is not always great, but thats because they tend to stay busy all the time. I still find good deals here, its worth the visit, but you have to be discerning and thorough.

Ive found treasures at Thrift Town almost every time Ive gone there. Doc Marten boots for $10, Tailored sportsjackets, jeans, books, kitchenware, a great wrought iron patio set for 1/4 the price I would have paid new. With their punch card, I get $10 off every hundred dollars I spend! Great, helpful staff. Quick checkout lines. Its also a great place to shop if you care about environmental sustainability. Buying used helps conserve natural resources and energy. It supports our local economy instead of sending our $$ to China. But most important is the cause. Thrift Towns proceeds support the ARC of New Mexico, a charitable organization that provides support and services for New Mexicans with developmental disabilities. I shop at Thrift Town, and when I have things to donate, I bring them there as well.

Love the store. Sale tags are hard to find. Almost as if they change the tags or take those items of the shelves. It really is a hit or miss on those items. VIP program is great, as Im always getting coupons in my emails. My boyfriend and I did find issues with their tags saying one size but the brands tags said another. It was pretty much the entire section of mens dress pants. The only other issue i had was when purchasing a couple of flannel shirts the cashier had the nerve to tell me that I was stealing the shirts she wanted to buy, and that she had originally hid the shirts so she could buy them. Then proceeded to inform me that from now on shell just keep what she wants off the racks. If that isnt bad customer service, I dont know what is. Other than that, I love shopping here.
