Wandering around that "big box" sporting goods store in Freehold, chatted with a guy about duck calls. He knew about L&H, and suggested I check them out for a better selection and expert advice. Not being from the area, but with plenty of time to kill, I went to the store on a late Friday morning. It was a great experience from the start. The place LOOKS like a hunting/fishing store. When I got inside, I was greeted by a smiling and pleasant lady. Next, I got to Tom who was actively assisting a customer, and just generally multitasking. I asked him about a lesson in "Duck Call 101. He grabs a box of calls, & out the back door we go. No "I know everything about everything" attitude, just a frank assessment of what little I know and how I was doing. It is more than just a little apparent that the staff here LIKES what theyre doing. Now, I must mention, I was expecting the attitude that you can normally only get in a plumbing or electrical supply house. They have a nice selection of top quality merchandise at competitive prices. This is where you spend your hard earned dollars, and you wont go away feeling like you never want to go back. Ill be back, and L&H isnt exactly close to where I live.

Amazing selection, excellent advice! After chatting with the owner / manager about wanting to take my kids fishing at the manasquan reservoir, he told me to bring my rods in. He looked at my gear, restrung one of my reels, and sugested some tackle. He then tied a different presentation on each rod, and drew my kids a picture on how we should fish each setup. Ended up with 9 fish! (A few sunnies, but 2 trout, a yellow perch?) All catch and release btw. Excellent store with some great people inside.

I bought my first rifle here. Its a good outdoors store with a little bit of everything, but keep in mind since its not a major chain youre going to pay a bit more. Most things have a pretty large mark-up, but I actually found that the firearm prices are fair. On top of that, they have a good selection and are helpful and friendly. They also sell used firearms here if youre looking to save some money. All in all a good stop if youre looking for anything outdoors-related.

Limited supplies for anyone using recurve bows or looking for shooting gloves and arm guards. Also, stood at the desk waiting for someone to assist me and the guy behind the counter didnt even acknowledge that I was standing there for a solid 10 minutes. Seems as if they only cater to older guys who are looking to burn through serious money or you are wearing camo gear.

This is a hunters and fishermans dream! They have everything youll need, and the staff is fairly friendly and definitely knowledgeable. We picked up some items for Boy Scout trips here, and we were amazed by how eell-stocked they are.

Our annual "First Day of Trout Fishing" at L&H with the kids. Cute stocked trout pond out back with all the gear you need in the shop. Fishing is Free for the kids. Dress warm though as it can get cool.

Good selection for most hunting, shooting, and fishing needs. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. One drawback is that the gun staff does not work on Sundays. Otherwise, I highly re recommend this pkace.
