Even after having read the negative reviews I decided that Targeteers sounded like a well-stocked facility with experienced staff, and decided to take the ride up there to shop for a bow. I was delighted to find when I arrived that I was the only customer at that moment. An older gentleman named Bill helped me with a bow selection, and then spent well over an hour setting up the bow with me so that it was properly sighted in and I was comfortable with its operation. The store is well-sized, well-stocked and the staff are obviously experienced. The indoor range is really nice - clean, professonal and "garnished" with large glassed-in cases with stuffed bear, lion, deer, etc. - very well done. I give the store an A+. I can understand that, if they get busy, customers are going to wind up waiting a while if not quite a while for service - thats just part of the way it works. My experience was good and I can recommend this facility to someone who wants a large selection of archery product backed up by experienced personnel. A FOLLOW UP: I had an issue with my bow yesterday - two days after I bought it - in which I must have, through fatigue after firing about 60 arrows, inadvertently rotated slightly the hand holding the bow. The result was that the bow string moved off the pulley and, when the cables detensioned the bow came apart into pieces. I took it up to Targeteers last night and Rob (the owner) not only spent almost an hour with me reassembling and re-tuning the bow (including further time spent helping me shoot arrows and refine my technique) - he refused all payment other than an $11 cable guide which was missing. Thats customer service! They are concerned about their negative reviews but dont know exactly how to approach handling them. Whatever - in the meantime I dont hesitate recommending this establishment - they know their business well which means good technical advice when purchasing and then competent service if needed.

When my daughter wanted to learn archery I consulted my brother who has 30 years of hunting and target bow experience. His advice was, before I made a decision about a purchase, we would make an appointment and visit Targeteers. It turned out to be great advice. The Targeteers Archery staff was patient and encouraging during the lessons and my daughter had an excellent experience with the Targeteers instructors. A month later, my daughter decided that she wanted to purchase a compound bow of her own. Once again, my brother advised me to work with Rob at Targeteers for that purchase. My brother said that there is no one he knows who can better set-up and fine tune a bow like Rob and he should be the one to sell you the bow. Rob had a better idea and asked their technician Kaitlyn to work with my daughter to spec out a bow along with arrows, hardware and a release. Each step along the way, Kaitlyn made several recommendations for my daughter but she left the decisions to my daughter. She discussed the price with me and explained why each item or option was needed. I believe that my daughter was encouraged to excel in archery in part, because of the competent, knowledgeable example Kaitlyn provided for a teenage girl. More than a purchase, it was a pleasant learning experience for my family and an initiation into an exciting sport for my daughter. Overall, my experience with the Targeteers staff and the regular clients have been excellent. The atmosphere in the archery range is friendly and social. There are regular, organized leagues set up for kids and adults. I have found the instructors and the regular clients to be helpful, friendly, approachable and willing to offer advice.

I decided after firearms took me away from archery to get back into it, wanted to get back to Bowhunting. Went in told them I havent shot a bow in almost 10yrs and the girl behind the counter (Kate I believe her name is) was fantastic! Super knowledgeable that girl knows her stuff big time, ended up buying a higher end Hoyt even though she first showed me much more Inexpensive bows which to me shows she wasnt trying to just push the exspensive products. She set me up same day while I waited, bow and accessories she recommended were spot on for me and set me up perfectly left there with bow shooting great. My reason for 3stars has been from every time I returned for service and or questions the rest of the staff I ended up dealing with acted like it was such a bother to help me. I dropped A lot of money on my rig and exspected much better. Last visit ended up dealing with the owner, he was absolutely terrible, crap attitude acted as if I was inconveniencing him (as Im dropping another couple hundred bucks mind you!) I asked about getting some custom strings made and installed and couldnt believe the way he was speaking to me. Needless to say I didnt buy strings from him. Being no other dedicated archery shops in the area makes it difficult to go elsewhere, maybe thats why hes such a dick he knows he has the area locked down. They have a fantastic inventory of bows and accessories, pretty solid indoor range, just the attitude in there sucks they dont know how to treat a paying customer you wont leave feeling very good. If you must use them Id recommend asking to deal with Kate (if shes still there) shes the only one in there Id ever deal with again...

This company is happy to help you drop a couple thousand on a bow and accessories in their store but dont count on any customer service/support/help afterwards unless youre dropping more $$. I wish I read these reviews before going there to buy my very pricey Hoyt bow. After going back to shoot the bow with their FREE 1 hour range card (initially spent $2,300 there and then they charged me for field points). The customer service was awful-they were all rude "know it alls" and didnt care what I had to say them not knowing I have 15 years of archery experience. Im no pro but you do learn things being in the sport for 15 years. I went in with a question about a release I bought FROM THEM soon after my purchase and saw they would be at a sport show near by my house. I went to their booth explaining I just purchased a bow a month ago and had a question about this type of release I switched to. Even at the sport show they were rude and nasty and treated me like I had no clue what I was talking about. Maybe they should fully listen to the customer before opening their mouths and giving their input. From now on, I will be ONLY going back to the Sportsmen Center in Borden Town NJ. They are really helpful there and actually listen to you wants and needs. Im the first one to always support a local mom and pop shop but not when they treat their customers like crap. I belong to a hunting forum for NJ and I will be sure to warn other bowhunters about this place and their lack of anything resembling good customer service.

I liked the atmosphere and it seems as if they are practically family owned. But I had bought a bow from amazon and the practically bullied me for having it. I walked in and I put my bow on the table and the guy said "u didnt buy this from here right" and before I could even say anything this other guy working there said "no its one of those generic amazon bows" well I guess Im sorry Im not trying to spend almost 700 on a bow that does practically the same job and for the most part its the person behind the bow not the bow thats good. They trId to force me to buy the things that I didnt have on it but I didnt have the money to spend. And I could see how some products are over priced. Other than that they are a great store with a huge variety and the range was pretty nice. I will return most like but only after my parts come in to add to my bow(UPDATE) I went last week and the experience was better. They treated me better knowing that I have more money on me. I got my bow setup by Scott although I did have to pay a 40$ labor fee which I think is a bit pricey but its ok. I would be really satisfied with my bow but thereally are minor adjustments that need to be made. I will most likely return within the week and see how my third experience goes. Oh and I forgot to mentionmention they made me very happy by remembering me and my friend. Probably the biggest reason this shop will be my go to with my bow
