In May we started searching for a smaller 4x4 pickup. We went onto Carfaxs website and several dealerships came up. After traveling to several dealerships in PA and NJ, we finally came upon Northway. They had the exact truck we wanted with low miles and the same year as the larger 4x4 we just sold. We had a budget and the truck was within that budget. It was in great shape, or so we thought. After purchasing the truck we immediately drove from Northway the 90 min to our mechanic at home in PA. The shop didnt have it for more than 3 hours when they told us to "return the piece of crap and get your money back." The whole underside of the truck was rusting. We did some research and found out that it had been used in upstate NY as a neighborhood plow, so the salt from the roads was taking its toll on the undercarriage. After speaking with our mechanic, he went through all of the things it needed to pass inspection. All of the emergency brake cables were rusted out, one of which wasnt even connected. The rear shackles were rusting through, banging on the underside of the truck bed. They were so rusted and frozen, our mechanic had to use a plasma cutter to cut them from the truck. The rear brake rotors were heat blistered. Someone put new pads on to hide the damage, which was still clearly visible when the tires were removed. There was NO tailpipe from the muffler back to the rear of the truck! You would think this could be heard on a test drive, but the truck itself ran so smoothly and quiet, we never gave it a second thought. These were just the major problems that would not only fail PA Inspection and Emissions, but were a safety issue. We called Northway and spoke to Paul, our salesman. This man went above and beyond to help us. After our mechanic stated that the engine and drive train were sound and that if we could get all of the other stuff fixed (to the tune of close to $1700.00), it would be a great truck. Paul and Northways owners offered to supply us with all of the necessary new parts to repair the truck. A week later, we were back at Northway picking up all of our new parts. Our mechanic went through them and confirmed everything was correct and the truck should be fine once everything was replaced. Northway also cut a check for our mechanics labor to cover the repairs so we wouldnt have to. After 7 weeks from the day we walked into Northway, we picked up the truck today from our mechanic. Its like brand new underneath, runs like a new truck and we couldnt be happier. Paul also informed us that Northway has cut ties with the garage that our truck went through to inspect and repair it before it was put on their lot, citing the danger they put us in when we drove off their lot that day in May. We feel that Northways high level of integrity in this matter saved this sale and this review. Not once were we made to feel like any of it was our fault. And while we would normally have taken any used vehicle to our mechanic to inspect before we purchased it, in this case we were more than 90 min from home. It would have been very difficult, or nearly impossible, to do that. Regardless of what happened with this truck, I would still have a used vehicle checked before purchase. Northway proved that there are still honest businesses out there.

Before even buying my car, I submitted an online application early in the morning. I received no call regarding my application as to the status. So of course I called to check in. I was told someone would call me back, never got a return call. I only kept calling because I was hoping to go that evening to get the car and it is a 2 hour drive one way so I needed to leave work early to make it there before they closed. Called the next morning and the loan application was approved just no one seemed to call and let me know. That should of been the red flag, but I know people get busy so I let it go. Decided to get the car and asked them to have paperwork ready as I was driving 2 hours to get there and traveling with a 2 year old. They assured us it would be ready, of course it was not. During the signing the papers I stopped because the purchase price was not what I saw online. So I pulled out ad that I had printed off to show them and has told they would not honor it. It was only a $300 difference, so you would think will all the hassle thus far they would give it to me for the internet price. The fuel light was on in the vehicle so I asked if it would be filled, I was told probably not but they took it across the road and put $10 into it, waste of time as I had to go right back over there to fill it for my 2 hour drive home. Since that day it has been part after part. Tire sensor light is on dash, service park assist is on, rear windows do not work, cruise control works intermittently. As of yesterday with the freezing temperatures I had no heat up front and check engine light is on. Called them of course a few times because it will not pass inspection like that, as they promised it would. No calls back of course and was promised a call back this morning and nothing. Worst experience ever with this place.

I bought a Honda CR-V from Northway for my son. I checked what I could, test drove it and found it to be a reasonable car for the $5200. The AC and all windows, switches, radio, etc worked, it looked and smelled clean, no mildew, it tracked well, had good tires, seemed in good shape. I also had them print out a CARFAX and I checked where it had been, and asked specifically if it had ever been submerged or in a Superstorm Sandy area. They said no, and the CARFAX seemed to back this up. I drove it out as far as Omaha with my son and then he continued to Boulder, CO. It was fine. But when he arrived in Boulder, the AC seized. He took it to a trusted mechanic there and they told him it was horribly rusted and blew up, and would cost $3000 to rebuild the whole system. I told them to put a delete pulley in and hed have to drive without AC. He called Northway and they were rude and dismissive. They had no suggestions and wouldnt consider any help whatsoever. Since then, there have been more corrosion-related problems. The mechanic has pointed out that there is a lot of rust deep inside everything. Parts will be quitting because they were submerged and Northway sold us exactly what I was nervous about getting. And now, since my son has a flat, he tried to remove the wheel to get it repaired. Hes tried every trick known short of torching, and the wheel will not come off because its so corroded. Hell probably have to have it towed in for expert repair. This car must have sat in three feet of water and then was sold to us as a prime used car. Do not buy from these crooks unless you are a masochist.
