My friend and I are both full-time commuting college students. We have been going to this Barnes and Noble a few times a week for about a month and sitting in the childrens section to complete our homework. It is a lot more quiet than sitting at the Starbucks and there is an outlet in the wall where at Starbucks there is only one outlet that is always taken. A worker approached us tonight and told us we had to move to a table because this section was for children and parents, not for doing homework. I was typing a paper and my friend was writing notes at the time. We were not disrupting anyone and there was a total of one mother and her son in the entire childrens section at the time. Several other employers have passed us multiple times in the past month and not once have we been told we were not able to do our homework in that section. When we walked to the tables, there was only one table open with no chairs. If you are over the age of 12, I advise you not to try and walk near the childrens section as they will tell you that you are not permitted to be there.

I was sitting in the cafe at Barnes and Nobles with a friend who had brought a beverage from another store. A chubby middle aged male employee approached me and angrily gave me the menu and told me that no beverages from other stores are allowed at Barnes and Nobles. He also said that if wanted to have a beverage from Dunkin Donuts I should go to Dunkin Donuts. Besides the fact that the beverage was not mine, I felt insulted by his rude demeanor that lacked basic manners. I felt like he wanted to give me a sandwich and stuff it in my mouth and shove it down my throat. Shame on that employee who ruined my day because of his aggression and shame on the managers at Barnes and Nobles of East Brunswick who hire employees without teaching them how to be professional towards respectable customers like myself.

I really like Barnes and Noble as a company, and for the most part, this location is nice, if a bit outdated looks wise. They locked their side entrance for the third time, so getting in from the mall is really inconvenient. The selection inside is decent, but could be more varies. They have a nice looking Funko display in the back against a wall. The big drawback to this location is the employees. They arent rude, but theyre very pushy. I know that its because of manager pressure, but when I go in, I have four or five people repeatedly asking if I need anything, and as a struggling agoraphobic, theres really no way for me to express my discomfort with it without sounding like a huge jerk. Other than that, returns are easy and the employees actually are quite helpful IF you actually need their help.

My friend and I were shopping for my young niece in this Barnes n Noble when a rude and nasty worker approached us claiming that since we were teenagers we were not permitted to enter the childrens section. I have had a Barnes and Noble Membership Card for years and to top that I am also a paying customer, and I am disgusted at the fact I wasnt able to buy my niece a childrens book and I wasnt permitted into the Childrens Section. Additionally, I study Childrens Literature at school but its great to now that Im not permitted to buy books in the area I study. The childrens department staff is incredibly nasty and their service is awful. I would highly advise anyone of all ages to avoid this Barnes n Noble at all costs.

Our family loves the childrens section where my son can play with the trains while parents read books. They recently took away all the chairs with some bogus excuse that its a fire hazard. If thats true they should also take away the many shelves, tables, and racks that are in the way of the exits. We brought some chairs over and placed them in a non fire hazard area. So instead of finding a helpful solution, two rude workers decide to come over and take away the chairs from 2 senior citizens and a pregnant woman. Not to mention making a scene in front of an innocent 3 year old and other listening children. Great job Barnes. Quality customer service.

The manager is very rude. We were just 2 quiet students trying to study, so we brought an extension cord to power up all our laptops. She just walked in and told us rudely, to ask us to remove it. Her face was very discriminatory towards us. Very bad attitude. I mean there are no rules posted that we cannot use our own extension cord, so we didnt know. She didnt need to be so rude to us. But the other girl beside me was of her skin color and she was not as cranky towards her as to us. I am very disappointed in this store, do not study here if you are not that skin color.

Dont come her to study! I barely write reviews but this one is so necessary. I am currently trying to finish a final as this is the last day of my semester and it is freezing. I can barely concentrate. I asked employees and the manager about this and they basically said it was nothing they can do about it. This needs to be fixed. Starbucks charges $4 for a medium hot chocolate thats more like a small and has the nerve for you to sit in their cold cafe so you can buy another just to warm yourself up. Not a place to come for students!

I am becoming an avid reader. Furthermore I am seeking guidance on books and what are some really good reads. I just wanted to mention how helpful Cynthia was. She was very knowledgable, passionate, and a pleasure to talk to. She gave me plenty of recommendations and I went with a few of them. Its always nice to be genuinely welcomed somewhere and to be helped by an eager staff member. Thank you Cynthia.

This is an awesome place for books magazines and nice cafe..... but recently the wifi has been horrible with hardly any speed since the previous managers left......overall a good place to go... the management should look into the wifi speed issue, as many of us like to come here watch movies and sip on coffee.

Words all over and imaginations running wild, kinda like someone took a chunk of the internet and squeezed all that info into a store.... This place needs a few more places to sit and revel in all the knowledge leaves that surround you. Oh yea and some cool legos plus coffee!

Lovely, convenient and clean place to visit especially if you have a baby or little children. It has Starbucks with seating area, and play area with a small stage for children. Besides books they sell unique toys and such.

I worked here in 1973 when I was a senior in HS and it was a Walden books store. A great experience with great co-workers at the time. A great experience and first job.

I just wanted a cup of coffee. How does a Starbucks counter have NO hot coffee???? Customers must typically spend 45 minutes here waiting for coffee. Poorly managed.
