I brought my car in for a tire change at noon and got it back at 6:50 PM. I was told it would be done soon when I dropped it off. I called back at four. "Itll be done within an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. Well call you." I called back at six, after hearing nothing from them. "Oh yeah were definitely done now. Just need to put back the spare. Give us fifteen minutes." I walk over about 20 minutes later, and what do you know? The spare isnt replaced. Not only isnt the spare replaced, the guy asked me what tool he needs to replace it... Aside from the fact that the tool is the standard one used for all of the other wheel bolts, an auto technician should not be asking the customer which tool to use. I just told him to put it in the trunk. Then, I had the pleasure of sitting around and waiting in the office, with little to no communication from the individual up front, until 6:50 PM when I finally got my car back. I am in a service business myself. I understand when people run behind. It happens. But to get virtually no communication is unacceptable, especially if something like a tire change is going to take a quarter of a day to do. I cannot recommend visiting this business to anyone in need of car maintenance.

Simple description: Con artist and scammers Well, came in with a coupon for an oil change, which was a great deal. It took way longer than they said it would, but thats ok, maybe they were a bit busy. As I was checking out, the clerk told me my brake lights werent working. I thought that was strange since they worked last night when I drove the car (we live down a dark street and you can see your brake lights shine when you step on the pedal). I asked what he thought was wrong, and he told me maybe it was the brake light switch, but they would have to run an electric diagnostic test to be sure. I cant remember the price, but somewhere between $50-$90. I told them Im not going to go with any work, and I would investigate myself. When I got home, I pulled off the fuse box cover and noticed the fuse for my brake lights was missing. Wow, this place must "reward" their techs for more service they need to do. Scammers!

Brought our vehicle in for a wiper motor and asked for inspection in braking system. Was charged an excessive amount for rear drum brakes repair. Manager authorized technician to tamper with our ignition system and disabled ignition with an unauthorized repair to our vehicle. When we came to pick up vehicle .....vehicle wouldnt start of course. Had to be towed to another shop. After an additional $250.00 in repairs plus a tow charge.... our costs for exceeded $1000.00 which is way beyond the $220.00 quoted for a wiper motor repair. In all of the years as a consumer Ive never seen a more unscrupulous group of folks representing a major brand as this group. We will share our experience on a national level through twitter also. Caution to those in need of an honest repair center......rule this one out!

The people at Pep Boys today were excellent. My car battery succumbed to winter today and I expected to have a tough time getting a replacement on a late Saturday afternoon but they took my car in almost immediately, even though they were fairly busy, and for a very reasonable amount I had my new battery in less than an hour. The sunny waiting area was pleasant with coffee, a soda machine and a tv to watch the ski jumping competition. I almost did not stop here because of some earlier negative online reviews but I am glad I believed the other good one, because I too had a good experience.

The new manager there is great! I took my car there to get fixed and he really took the time to explain everything to me. They gave me different options for getting my car fixed and I was able to get it done right away. I am really quite pleased with the amount of personal attention that I received, I wish more places were like that.

Went in for 2 new pads. They tried to get me to buy new rotors on a car with $30,000 miles. Upon telling them no. They called back and said they checked with the manufacturer and said they can cut them. Check your sources before telling me to spend $1200 more. It turns out this is all under warranty as well. Find somewhere else

I had a really good experience at Pep Boys in Caldwell. I went in after the blizzard needing a battery. Spoke to the manager, I think his name was Manny. They replaced my battery and had me in and out within 30 minutes..... I read the reviews and I was a bit weary about going there and giving them a chance but I was very happy

Took my 55 Chevy streetrod in for mufflers I supplied my nightmare became their project. Great guys great service took ME 3 weeks to get right mufflers they used and worked thru it all never heard a discouraging word all my fault they laughed and made it work my bad they were great

I have never been to a worse car place. The guy at the desk was irritable and overmatched by the job. The mechanics know less about cars than I do. I went to get a headlight fixed. They couldnt do it! Then they messed up my battery and overcharged me. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

I would rather post zero stars if possible. giving the one star is too much. if you must go to them for a specific item, make sure you only have them work on that only thing, and not too look for other items. there are no automobile genius at work here.
