The video game exchange is a good store with a great amount merchandise in stock. Their prices can be a bit steep on some things, but other times they are better than what you can find anywhere else or on the internet. They have bins full of old games with set prices ($3, $5, $8) which is always nice because sometimes you can find a gem in there. The reason why my rating is so low, and I would recommend shopping elsewhere if you have other options is the service you receive when you are there. The store is owned by an old man, who can be rude and distant, but sometimes shines through with acts of kindness and some funny jokes, but his Son and heir to the Video Game Exchange throne is distant and mean, he doesnt greet you when you come in the store nor does he try to converse with you. He stares you down like youre a thief in his store (even if youre a regular customer) and is nothing but cold. When you go to make your purchase he doesnt make small talk, he counts the merchandise, tells you your total, takes your money and gives you a receipt. Its one of the most unpleasant experiences you can have at any retailer. The one redeemable employee is a young kid in his 20s who you can tell loves video games, will ask if you need help and blissfully answers any questions you have with a smile on his face. He will talk about the product with you and make suggestions if you ask. A polar opposite of the owners--this kid knows what good customer service is plus he loves the product he is selling. Unlike the owner and his son, who just seem to be in it for the money, they seem like they hate video games and all their game loving customers. They need to take a page from their employees book and make Video Game Exchange the ultimate experience.

I used to go here all the time because the prices and selection where great. I remember buying suikoden II for 35 when it was 100+ on ebay, and various other deals for far below ebay value. Honestly Id find multiple deals like that on each trip, and I tended to go there about once a month. I even asked the owner about ebay at one point and he said "he didnt have time" for it. It was the best kept secret for classic video game shopping in New England. Well, over the past few years, hes certainly found the time for ebay. The prices have skyrocketed from being way below ebay to way above. I can understand upping their prices somewhat, or even to match ebay level, but theres really no reason to shop there anymore for classic games. The only good thing they have going, at least as of last time I was there, was relatively cheap strategy guides. They do have a very good selection still, and their prices are overpriced just like every other independent game shop around here selling classic games. For that reason Im giving them three stars, because, sadly, overpriced classic games is exactly what everyone else has.

Brought a disc to be repaired on a monday, guy told me it would be done tomorrow afternoon. I drive 11 miles (one way) to go pick up my game the next day and guess what, its not done. Some kid working there gave me some BS run around story told me the guy had a serious medical emergency and it wouldnt be done until thursday. Kind of annoyed at this point because i drove all the way down there to pick up my game, waste my gas, and its still not ready, then they have the nerve to lie to me and tell me there was a medical emergency (even if there was an emergency , is there no one else that works there that knows how to operate a machine to fix a tiny scratch in a disc?). Needless to say i had to work the rest of the week and was not able to make it down there. Well today is a week later and the game is STILL not repaired. So much Un-professionalism and carelessness at this store, i will be sure not to go back for ANYTHING ever again. Unless your looking for some really old games or you want to wait over a week to get a disc repaired, i suggest shopping elsewhere!

Here is the brief story: I live in the North Shore, they are in Plaistow NH, about 45 minutes away. We called today to ask if they had any PS3 in stock (since I couldnt for the life of me find one around here, and my local indie game store suggested them), and we were told they did have a 120GB in stock for a really good price. We asked if they could hold it for an hour and a half because we had to drive all the way there to get it. The person on the phone agreed to hold it, took our name and we were off. When we got to the store... they had sold it! An HOUR ago! It must of been just moments after we called! Needless to say this was completely uncalled for and entirely unacceptable - we were ready to drop several hundred dollars between a console, games and controllers, but they lost out entirely and I will NEVER shop there, or recommend it to anyone.

Ok so I try to go there as much as I can. But their always closed even when it says their open and the guys who work at the store are assholes I honestly dont know how their in business when the store is closed all the time and yes once in a blue one their open but dont go to this store go to bazaar game grads 100% better it has more games and its right next to a comic book store called commander D and the employees are super nice. Ok day three after I posted this I decided to give them another chance tomorrow sure enough their not open even when the sign says "open Wednesday" so if thats true their going to be closed for another week

I have visited the location once and will not go back. I drove over on a Saturday afternoon to be told that they would not be "technically open" until Monday since they had just moved. There was no indication of this on the web site. As a small business owner I try to support other small businesses instead of buying from big chains however small businesses need to focus on taking care of the customer if they want to survive. I can order the same products via the internet where the lack of customer service is expected. If you are planning a trip call first to make sure they will be "technically open".

I love the Game Exchange! I know this store very well, Ive been buying games here since 2012. Ive been going to this store for five years already and the employes are really nice and they are really good to me as well they know me very well now too. I love the prices of the games in this store they are much cheeper than the Gamestop games. The store also doesnt rip you off at all, they dont do what gamestop does. They even never change me a lot of money when I get stuff their, every once and a while they drop the prices for me. I love the Game Exchange! I give this store a two thumbs up and 5 stars! ;)
