I ordered a battery and windshield wipers online with discounts, and when I went into drop off my car, the girl working behind the desk was really friendly and said theyd call when it was finished. Super easy. When I picked up the car, the discount was applied to the battery and not the wipers. I asked her about it, and she told me she added an extra discount on the battery. I was like "okay." I left, got home, looked at the bill and realized that was not true. I wasnt going to make a big fuss about it. Whatever. Then Pep Boys contacted me about the experience (routine survey), and I told them it was great service, just didnt get the discount I asked for online (and was told I did but I didnt). Then the manager called me and offered a free oil change. That was very kind of him. My husband went into Pep Boys to grab the coupon, and the same girl was working and just scowled at him. When we dropped off the car for the oil change, it was a terrible experience. She said the car was finished and the mechanic had not even started, but still told my husband that the mechanic checked the tires and all the basic fluids that comes with an oil change. Again, the mechanic had not even started and she told him it was finished and everything had been checked. My husband ended up waiting there for well over an hour. When the mechanic drove the car out, my husband walked up and started to say hi and say this was his car. The mechanic walked right passed him without saying a word. Just completely ignored him. My husband got into the car and the keys werent in the car. He tried the front door but it was locked. (My husband had been waiting outside this entire time). He had to walk through the shop to confront the mechanic and the girl for the keys. The mechanic didnt speak a word to him. The girl gave him the keys. He is a very easy going guy and said the situation did not sit well with him. He thought they were both so rude and it wasnt necessary. He called the manager to explain what happened and how he was treated and the manager offered another free oil change. He asked if we could redeem it at another location. The manager said no. We never went in for the free oil change. It wasnt about the oil change, it was about the staff and the lack of professionalism and respect. It was such an uncomfortable situation. We will not be going back to any Pep Boys.

Brakes were squealing so I took my car to Pepboys. Was told I needed front and rear brakes but they didnt have parts for the rear. Had the front done for $400+ and made an appointment for 2 weeks later to have the rear done. Something came up and I had to cancel the appointment. A few months later squealing started again so I took it to Les Schwab because it was more convenient. Told them to only check the rear since I just had the front done. Les Schwab said the rear brakes were fine. Hmmm. Fast forward several more months and the squealing started again. This time I went to Reno Vulcanizing. After a complete brake inspection was told that rear was fine but front needed to be replaced. What? Since I barely had 5000 miles since Pepboys did the front I called and was told the parts were under warranty but I would have to pay $160 for the labor. Spoke to the manager, Geronimo, who said it would be done at no cost, so I made an 8 AM appointment & was told it would take about an hour. Got there at 8, he wrote the order as "brake inspection". Told him I didnt need that...just replace the front brake parts. He said thats how he had to write it up. Then told me it would be 2 hours. Came back at 10 & Geronimo wanted to show me what was wrong....surprise..all wheels were off and the mechanic tried to convince me that I needed rear brakes, too. Told them I didnt trust them after 2 other shops said the brakes were fine and just fix the front. Was told itd be ANOTHER hour. Finally, about 11:40, it was done--3.5 hours when I was first told an hour and they tried to cheat me, again. If/ when I get the rear brakes done I will definitely go elsewhere...Will never go to Pepboys again and will do my best to discourage anyone else from going there.

Its a really long story but the jest of it is I was in Vegas when a hose blew out so I towed to pep boys. Well I got there and they said it needed a whole new cooling system 700 bucks later they said we were good to go that my truck runs like a top............Well I made other to tonopah and it over heated I called them up and said they would tow it back to Vegas after some talking I got it towed to Reno on there tab (was headed to Washington) Well I get here and they didnt have time to look at it before they close so we had to pay for a hole for the night. I get a call in the moving saying I need a whole new engine that it had over heated so bad that now its shot. But the kicker is the place in Vegas messed it up so I dont have to pay a dime for a new engine plus they are flying the wife me dog and cat back home till its done then paying for a flight for me to cone back and get it. Id have to say thats service!

I needed to have my brake fluid changed. From the first call to the store to the time I drove away the service was flawless, and I would recommend this store to anyone, particularly where customer care is concerned. Brandon was professional, polite and very accommodating. I needed work done and couldnt wait for an appointment, so he and the crew at Pep Boys fit me in and got the job done in less than two hours. Then I asked questions of the man that did the work, and he answered my questions knowledgeably and willingly. When I paid, service manager Charlie was just as polite as Brandon and shook my hand before leaving. I was even greeted by an employee just in passing. And the ultimate test of quality work: the drive home. There was a noticeable difference in the way my car braked, and I felt safe as a result. Thank you for a great experience!! I will be back!!

Wanted to charge me $82 for an oil change and would not accept my coupon unless I bought the oil in the store. When to the store and told I could not use my coupon on oil that was on sale. Went back in line where no cars were in service bay, but customers waiting. When they finished there conversation, he told me of their unreasonable price, and I had to get sythetic oil, which I did not believe. Went to Walmart it was $43 for a synthetic oil change or 19.99 for one with out(PEP boys does say they have a $19.99 oil change), the guy tried to blame it on corporate, called the corportation they told me to call the service manager who in turned told me to call corporate. I have had great dealing with PEP boys in the past. I guess it depends on who is running their store at the time.
