My mother, a few days ago, attempted to purchase "Under The Dome" by Stephen King for my daughter. The sales woman that she talked to actually had the audacity to ask how old my daughter is, and then tell my mother that my daughter is too young for Stephen King. My mother was very insulted and disgusted to say the least, and so am I. We are a family that appreciates fine literature, and from an early age, my daughter has been an avid reader, and the young teenager books just werent cutting it anymore for her. She tried reading "adult" books, and got hooked, and me and her mother fully supported her. Now, if this particular sales woman has anything against words, (because a book is usually composed completely of words) I respect that, but who is she to tell my mother that my daughter is too young for a book? We know what kind of book that is, and in fact, Ive read it a few times myself, but our daughter is a very mature young lady, and we have raised her to be prepared for the world, and sometimes in the world, there are words that not everyone thinks are acceptable, but theyre just words. That was at the top of my daughters Christmas list this year, and we told her about the awful sales woman at the store, and she was very upset. Not because she didnt get her book, but because that woman, who knows nothing of her, just assumed her maturity level because of her age. It pains me to do this, but thanks to this awful experience, and the disgusting circumstances, we will have to find a new place to purchase all of our books. A place that appreciates and understands a love of fine literature at a young age.

I will probably never go to B&N again. Pre-ordered a book online almost 6 months ago. It released on 10-20-15. On 10-22-15, my order said it was still proceeding, so I called the 800 #, the guy was very rude and told me he didnt know when my order would be full filled. He then told me that it was not suppose to release until the 20th I said I knew that and it was the 22nd, he seemed really confused. I told him it was out in the stores because I had seen it at Wal-mart, he again said it was not out yet and if I think I saw it then maybe I should go buy it there and hung up on me. So, on 6-24-15, I go to B&N in Springfield, to see if I could get this resolved. I go into the store, find the book, yes it was released. Take it to customer service and tell them what happened. Customer Service Guy tells me that he cant give me the book that I need to call customer service and get a refund. That I could buy the book there that day. I asked him why I needed to call customer service he said because B&N online and B&N the store are 2 different stores. He couldnt help me since I purchased the book online. I go online today to see about my order status 10/26/15, it is still proceeding, so I called and cancelled my order and went to Wal-mart and bought the Book that I pre-ordered from your company 6 months ago! NEVER AGAIN!

Real talk--you know it & I know it: you will probably be able to find better prices on most of these products online, and with more variety. So if price is your bottom line then this place probably wont do it for you. However--if youre not sure what you want, or you just want to see whats available, or if you just want to walk into a building full of books and coffee and calendars and games, then this is a lot easier to do than trying to break into the warehouse of one of those online guys while carrying a coffee mug. As far as physical bookstores goes, this one is clean, well stocked with enough variety you can usually find something and the staff is helpful when you need them and unobtrusive when you dont. Cant ask for much more these days.

Ordered online and received very used books. The books I received had creased and dog eared pages, crushed corners and worn covers. The covers were worn enough to actually be missing ink and were faded looking. To top that off, customer service has been extremely rude and has hung up on me multiple times. Only one person processed my request for a refund. However, I am still out shipping cost and have to wait for them to process the return to get my refund. Definitely prefer Amazon. B&N shouldnt punish customers with return shipping costs when selling used books at a new price. I would not have paid over $100 per book if I was getting used. Would NOT recommend.

I love our local Barnes & Noble browsing every time Im ready for a new book, or the huge variety of magazines including International but I wouldnt have known about and enjoy buying to read and Save. Barnes & Noble is great for last-minute gift giving, and even faster to browse for a gift and get it on the spot - instead of waiting for even two day shipping; I get so busy I need a lot of Same Day gifts. Its also my favorite meeting place to get together with a friend, have a snack, and look over the books together discover each others recommendations, and buy them right away.

This is an amazing book store. With a coffee shop inside and several seating areas spread around makes it almost smell like a library inside. They have a huge diverse selection of books and plenty of copies on had so that you dont have to worry about them not having what you need. Its always nice and quiet here. It could be a very comfortable place to get some studying done or just to meet up with a couple of friends from your book club or something of the sort. However you write your excuse to go, if you like books and always want new ones, this is the place to go.

Its a Barnes and Noble bookstore. Whats not to love? Granted, the books are never cheap and they never have the best deals, and youre not always going to find what youre looking for when you go there. However, when I walk through those doors and the smell of new books hits me, a quiet peace settles over me like walking through front door of an old home. In Barnes and Noble, Im a time traveler, an adventurer, a scientist, a warrior, as young or as old as I want to be. All I have to do is open the doors, enter, and grab a book.

Alot of the time they dont have the books Im looking for. Some of the employees are not very helpful, they are always telling me to go online and order (if we all did that, youd have no job) and they are always pushing their members card.. Ugh! I understand, theyre doing their job and whats asked of them, but isnt assisting customers part of that?

I have been going to Barnes and Noble for about 25 years. I love everything about the store except the current manager. She has very poor social skills and seems to pressure customers into the rewards program. Considering the target market, she seems very much out of place there. I think there must be a better candidate for her position.
