Broadway Cafe is very hard to describe in one word. If youre a coffee addict, fiend, or even admirer - you have to try Broadway Cafe. They use beans that they, themselves, have roasted. If walk further north on Broadway Street, youll find their roasting location as well (trust me, when you walk by it - youll know it; the aroma of roasted coffee beans overwhelms you). Going back to the cafe, its a different story altogether. Environment: 5 Stars (*****) Broadway Cafe is one of those places that youll find that just about everyone goes to in Westport. Any stereotype, any type of person, regardless of age, gender, or personality. This is actually one of the more incredible things about the cafe; as youre prone to find a few people sitting around (outside on a nice day) enjoying the weather and their drink. Inside, youll experience a rather laid back environment to the point that youll enjoy every second of your experience. Customer Service: 4 Stars (****) Each time I go to the Broadway Cafe, Im reminded that its an independently owned location and that its a local staple in the community. As Im not that frequent of a customer, I get to watch as customers and employees speak to one another in a familiar manner. The staff have been dedicated and focused on customer service throughout it all, it seems. I havent any gripe as it seems to be a fairly straight-forward process majority of the times for me (as Ive not been there in the early mornings or busy afternoons). Coffee: 5 Stars (*****) Like I said, this is some delicious coffee. You wont see eight or nine boards of options as you would in a chain like Starbucks; here, youre paying for the quality of coffee. If youre the type that just drink Frappucinos from Starbucks, you might want to go in with a more open-mind when going into the Broadway Cafe. They do serve iced drinks and I highly recommend you try either their Hazelnut Mocha if thats your thing. Price: 4 Stars (****) Considering its an independently owned location and its a coffee cafe, I think the prices are fairly realistic. Youre looking at similar prices to any chain, but the taste is far better. They do sell some "brewing tools" if youre thinking about starting to do cold-brew or french press at home. On top of that, they sell their beans/grinded beans for your personal use. Price-wise for these things are competitive or on-par with most retail locations. Overall: 5 Stars (*****) From the "feel" of the environment to the taste of their coffee as it hits my tongue, I would highly recommend at least trying Broadway Coffee. They offer snacks, cakes, and small luncheon-type foods as well (which I have not tried as of yet) in case you want to grab a bite to eat while sitting down. You cant really go wrong with Broadway Cafe if youre a coffee drinker; casual or "professional" (addict).

One of my favorite coffee shops in KC. Good quality, offers soy and almond milk, inexpensive bagged beans $12-15/lb. Good merch. Open late. Only complaint is theres always a delay in that they dont ring you up until your drink is ready so it can get confusing as to who is in line and whos waiting for drinks. Would prefer to order, pay, and grab a seat, and go back up to counter when drink is ready. No issues using the womens restroom (single occupancy) as a non passing trans woman so thats a plus. Wish coffee shops would just make their small bathrooms gender neutral instead since they usually only have one toilet, but I digress.

After trying the coffee all over town, Ive concluded that Broadway Cafe is the best. They roast their own beans (to perfection), they have a nice selection of beans, all of the drinks on the menu are great (iced mocha is my favorite). The baristas are very friendly, prices are reasonable, clientele is interesting, and they play awesome music. Broadway Cafe is a particularly good place to go grab a coffee, sit outside, and "people watch" or chat with whoever happens to be sitting there (usually busy). Also a great place to hang out for a couple hours of websurfing on your laptop.

We came to Broadway Cafe to work and to have a good cup of coffee. Neither one worked out ok. The interior design is stylish, but thats all there is. I think that in the 21st century, every good coffee shop should have wireless internet. Broadway doesnt have that. They roast their own coffee, but it tastes horrible (at least on that particular day). Also, it looked like there were a couple of drug traffickers outside. Maybe Broadway should do something against that! I believe Broadway Cafe has great potential, but doesnt make enough out of it!

BEST COFFEE OF MY LIFE! I was visiting KC and a friend from there suggested I go here, knowing I love GOOD coffee. OH. MY. GOSH. Vanilla Latte was so smooth, so buttery, so heavenly. I had to go back the next day, and seriously almost ordered a second latte in one morning before we hit the road. Instead, I opted to buy 3 bags of freshly roasted coffee beans to make at home. The coffee I brought home was amazing, but that latte was out of this world. I only wish I had a Broadway coffee close enough to frequent. :(

This is by far the best coffee in town. The shop is nice, clean and cozy. The staff is super nice and I believe they are the first privately coffee shop in the nation to put a Starbucks out of business! They did that through awesome customer service and EXCELLENT coffee! If you have any questions concerning coffee, Jon Cates is the resident expert. He has travelled all over buying and sampling coffee and is a true master at his craft. Their coffee makes excellent presents for birthdays, office functions, holidays, etc.

This is the most well-loved local coffee shop in Midtown KC. Try a toddy, iced mocha or blackberry Italian soda in the Summer, hot chocolate or Earl Grey in the winter. The crispy marshmallow treats are good anytime! Also, walk one block North to their Roastery location at 40th/Washington to see their production, get a drink, and visit the old Westport fire station. But be aware, the food options are better at the Broadway location.

The dude with no hair and glasses is a complete joke, I watched him help a customer in front of me then refuse my service. A previous time he muttered something under his breath after getting me a coffee and just stared me down. This idiot has no reason to be an ass to me and should be fired. I have been coming hear for 4 years and have never had an issue until he started working here.

Love the coffee - but someone has to teach these guys and girls hospitality 101, and/or get them some happy pills. Very standoffish people behind the counter always. Theyre either totally miserable or socially inept. Never seen one of them smile, or say thanks. I support local - always will, Ill continue to buy my coffee there instead of SB. But come on...
