I want to give a huge shout out to Sixth Chamber Used Books on Grand Ave in St. Paul. They welcomed my dog and I with open arms when we were both suffering the effects of the heat today. They happily allowed us to stay in their location for 2 hours while we waited for husband to come and get us. If youre looking for a book, or even if youre not, please stop in and give them your business. They have a great selection of books and I was able to find one by my favorite author I hadnt read yet. If theres a book youd like that they dont have, let them know and theyll call you if it comes in! They have excellent customer service and I cannot say enough kind things about Betty, who got us water and made sure we were as comfortable as possible today. They welcome all well behaved dogs and humans, so go shopping there with your best friend or participate in one of their many community activities. Its just the best place ever as theres a treasure trove of interesting books interspersed with new childrens toys and "doo-dads" for adults. Was in yesterday and spent all but 3 cents of my store credit. But I left with 2 books for "my " children and 2 amazing catalogues of digital art photos. I promised my graphic designer neighbor she could go through them before I cut them up for my Soul Collages. They also had copies of 2 different Soul Collage books that were of interest to the friend I was shopping with. Another great thing is the readings and childrens programs offered regularly. Lastly they have a great bulletin board and selection of community event flyers which i always pick up and pass around. I even got info about a board game group which meets at a toy store in my neighborhood. That there is a dog who comes in sometimes is a bonus for me lol!

When I first went into Sixth Chamber I was skeptical; and indeed there are many books, books spaced out on the floor or piled up because there simply isnt enough space for all the store is trying to convey. The furniture too has seen better days, but, there is this feeling when you walk in that you are transported to a time less hectic- it reminds me of an old fashioned library, where you have to work to find what you want, but it is extremely satisfying when that perfect book finds you. TLDR: There is a shop dog who loves to be petted and the owner is extremely nice. Also, why are you going to a bookstore? Well, they have toys too....

Cozy atmosphere. Great book selections. It is fun to spend an hour or two perusing the sections to find a keeper to take home. If you are looking for something specific they can usually order it for you. Also, they have a big area for kids, and board games for adults. They host game nights and events of the sort.

I love this place! Unique gifts at very fair prices. I wish I could give them more stars. The staff is extremely knowledgeable of their inventory and they are friendly. They also have a lot of fun events going on throughout the year. Support your local small businesses! And this is a great one.

Wonderfully friendly owner with an amazing selection of gifts. It really gives Mischief Toys a run for its money even though its a bookstore. They also of course have a great selection of books in all genres. This is my favorite bookstore.
