I stopped in at Northwestern Book Store to find titles by theologians Eugene H. Peterson and Bart Ehrman, and religious historian Marcus Borg. Although these authors are prolific, Northwestern stocked none of their titles except for the Peterson Bible paraphrase The Message Bible. I did locate a fundamentalist refutation of an Ehrman book, but Northwestern did not stock the book the fundamentalist theologian was refuting! They also stocked none of the 11 other theologians on my list that day. I think if you are looking for fundamentalist/born again theological books, you will be very pleased with the selection at Northwestern. If you are looking for any other Christian viewpoint, you will be disappointed. Outnumbering the books by far is the vast selection of tacky Christian merchandise such as fish jewelry, key lanyards that say I am Ready for the Rapture, and other junk made in China. There was so much of this tacky merchandise that it blocked my view of the music section of the store. At the time of my visit, the store was out of stock on all NRSV translations of the Bible, so that was disappointing, too. I came ready to spend money and ended up leaving empty-handed. The two staffpeople were friendly, but I do not think I will bother to go back to Northwestern Bookstore.

Wide variety of books, DVDS, music, greeting cards, journals, gifts, wedding section, kids area, etc. Large store, always spotless and easy to shop. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Prices vary, from excellent deals to pricier items, so it fits all budgets. I drive an hour to visit this particular location-- and its worth it! A treat to shop here!!
