I visited this store on a Saturday afternoon to look into purchasing a pair of heritage boots. I was a little surprised to be the only customer in the store when I walked in. When I asked about trying on a pair of Iron Rangers I was told that they only carried one color (which didnt happen to be the color I was looking for), but I figured that I had made the trek to the store, so I should try on a pair and figure out my sizing anyways. I didnt think it would be wasting anybodys time, since I assumed he was being paid to work there, and there were no other people in the store. The man behind the counter told me that hed just sold the display model of the IRs and just walked off to the back. He came out and I figured he might have brought a pair for me to try on, but he just laced up a new display boot and told me about how the owner of his store doesnt like to carry the heritage boots. OK, cool, but since they had some in stock, I asked if I could try it on anyways. He just kind of looked at me and said that the Hopkins store (13 miles away) was a corporate store and carried more of the heritage line. So I asked if he was saying I should go to the Hopkins store to try a pair on, and he said yep, and then continued on talking about how the owner doesnt like the heritage line. He followed me out the door when I left, commented about the nice weather, then went and had a smoke in his car. I was pretty confused by this experience, since Id previously heard nothing but good things about Red Wing Shoes. I ended up leaving with the feeling that I had rudely disturbed somebodys peace and quiet with my inane questions about shoes. It was certainly one of the weirder retail interactions Ive had. I did opt to drive to the Hopkins store and there were more customers, and still only one employee, but he was excellent. He greeted me and helped me try on a few pairs of boots. Thats all I was looking for.

As a very happy owner of two pairs of heritage boots I will say that poor customer service is my issue with this store. I live in Colorado, and frequent 3 different stores in 3 different cities depending on which job site I am at. All 3 of the stores I frequent in Colorado are more than happy to clean, and oil my boots for me and are very kind throughout the whole process. If I happen to walk into a store and notice they are busy I will come back another time, I have no problem being a reasonable person since this is a free service they are providing.. Well two weeks ago I was on a trip to Minnesota and thought hey, I should stop in to a Red Wings store since I could use a cleaning and oiling. I was the only person in the store and asked if the gentlemen behind the counter could oil them up for me. He looked at me like I asked him to come move my furniture and told me thats not something they normally do. He told me I should buy the oiling kit and take care of it myself. Ok, thanks for the help. The folks at my local store not only enjoy the conversations we have while oiling them, they give me great seasonal tips and care tips for my different leather types. I was very let down having to leave the store, which was completely empty of potential customers, with my boots un-oiled. Love my boots, will stick to my local stores I guess.

Ive been a big Red Wing fan for many years. I have a pair or two that have lasted the test of time, and still going strong. Additionally, Ive experienced great customer service. Ive really only had good things to say about Redwing shoes. Last year, I needed new hiking boots. I was unhappy with my Merrills (which broke down after a couple years) and I decided to switch to Redwing. I purchased a nice pair of Irish Setter hiker-style boots, thinking I wont have to worry about hiking boots for years and years. They didnt receive a ton of wear-time; but, in less than a year (which the employee confirmed on the computer), my boots had popped stitches in at least three different spots. I asked the young man working if there was a way to fix them or if he could help me out. I was told to find another store that does shoe repair because my boots were out of warranty and he couldnt help me... Less than a year of limited use... I would like to add that I contacted Red Wing Corporate after writing this review. They informed me that my boots did indeed have a year warranty. Because this store wouldnt cooperate, corporate sent me a replacement pair of boots. Red Wing has won back my favor; however, I will not spend my hard-earned money at the Bloomington store ever again.

Well people the recent negative reviews are no joke. I went in today to buy some new shoes. I asked a question about warranties since I was having an issue with my current shoes that I bought from a different Red Wing store and was told to go back there. I pressed a little to see why he cant help me out and he gave me nothing just that I need to go there. Well you will not get my business at all, I am a very loyal Red Wing customer and speak so freely about what a great product they are. I will be just as adamant when telling people to avoid the Bloomington Red Wing store due to the extremely poor customer service displayed today. Go to Burnsville where the people are friendly and helpful.

I was greeted with a stern "a customer with a box, whats that about?". I came to see about an exchange. No response to that other than the store clerk (older gent) complaining to another customer about the number of customers on Saturdays and they always seem to come all at once. When the clerk got to me it was determined he didnt carry what I was looking. I offered to exchange for a different style, not allowed. My son and I both walked out without boots, store lost the sale, clerk glad to get a customer out of his store. Bottom line is good quality, limited selection, extremely poor service. Where is the service these days?

Pulled up with about 10 minutes before the store closed (didnt know their hours) and saw a man sitting behind the counter. By the time we parked and got to the door we saw him walk into the back... the doors were already locked before we even pulled in. We waited for a minute to see if he was coming back - nothing. We called a few times -nothing. Rude! We knew what we were getting since it is paid for by my husbands work - it would of been an in an out thing. But since he wasnt willing to help us and clearly had the door locked before we even pulled in the parking lot, well before closing hour - we will take our business elsewhere.

Went in with my boots to show a problem with one and was told that "I must walk funny in them". I told them that this was the 4th pair of the exact same boots in 5 years and never had a problem before. They are absolutely no help and it was insulting to even try to talk with them. I have an email in to Red Wing corporate to see if they can help. I just wish I could give zero stars for this kind of customer service.
