I am a software developer with embarrassingly inadequate knowledge of hardware who uses a custom built machine for my work. After trying several vendors I discovered Jafferson Computers and have remained a faithful, extremely satisfied customer for several years. The owner of Jafferson computers is a tall, slender man with two persona. When he first approaches you he is warm, charming and inquires as to your problem. After discussing the problem he goes into his silent, furrowed brow, stare-at-the-offending-device mode. After residing in this mode for a duration dependent on problem severity the brow smooths, the face brightens, the charm returns and he details his analysis and recommends a best solution. If the problem could have multiple causes, rather than suggesting all approaches be undertaken—which guarantee resolution—he discusses each possible cause, the cost of each, and suggests resolving the most likely cause even though this may not maximize his cash flow. I have even heard him recommend obtaining a new computer rather than spend $80-100 repairing an old one. On Aug 5 my computer commenced behaving in an inexplicable manner. I left it at Jafferson Computer about noon and was told I would likely be available by the 7:00 closing or early Saturday morning. Not receiving a call by mid-afternoon Saturday, I visited the shop to inquire about the delay. The owner commented that my software problem was caused by a very uncommon interaction of Microsoft’s automatic software updating program, my unusual mix of software and a bug in Microsoft’s operating system that Microsoft is in the process of fixing. The reason my machine was not ready was that several hours were spent diagnosing the unusual, very complex problem which was then solved by removing some legacy files left behind by my updates of non-Microsoft software and Microsoft’s automatic updating. Although these activities required several hours of work—thus the delay—the final bill remained the $65 specified when I first delivered the machine. Jafferson Computers is a business offering competence and integrity. Competence in American business is common. Integrity is much less common. Jafferson Computers has both competence and integrity in spades. Google limits my appraisal of this vendor to 5 stars. Given the choice I would give six stars.

I highly recommend Jafferson Computers for all of your computer needs. They have provided service for me several times over the past five years and have helped keep my computer up and running, despite some viruses and other issues. The most recent problem with my (12-year old) computer was a game changer – the motherboard was severely damaged due to power surges and the cost to replace it was not worth it based on the age of my computer. It was time to get a new computer. I decided this time I wanted a lap top and asked Mateen at Jafferson Computers what kinds of things to look for; he was very helpful and wrote out some important features/requirements to look for when shopping. He said if I was interested, when I figured out what I wanted, to let him know and he might be able to get it for me for the same or a lesser price. That way I could purchase my 1-yr warranty through him. So that is exactly what I did. I knew having a warranty through Jafferson Computers was much more beneficial than one from a retail store – and it was the same price! I had some very old programs and data I wanted to have transferred to my new lap top; a more challenging task than an ordinary data transfer. They were able to install some of the old programs (miraculously) and for the ones they could not (Office products that were no longer supported), I was able to purchase new programs from them, which they also installed. With his vast IT knowledge and skills, perseverance and patience, Mateen met all of my needs; all of the data, including photos from an old program were successfully transferred. I love my new lap top customized just for me! And it’s a comforting feeling knowing I have a whole year’s warranty (including remote support) in which my computer needs will be met. The staff at Jafferson Computers is highly knowledgeable and professional yet, they offer the personal care and concern not provided by the big box stores.

I took my pc in because I suspected it had a virus: would open numerous programs upon starting and run painfully sluggish. They told me a $35 deposit was necessary from all customers when having service done: which I gave when leaving the computer. I purchased a new computer the same day from a different dealer. When I went to get my machine from this store they plugged it in and it seemed to run fine. The charge was $130 plus they kept the $35 deposit as they said there was no verification that I left a deposit. Which I later found the receipt on a carbon duplicate receipt paper!. When I did plug the computer in it was NOT REPAIRED.I have the other computer which I use for full time online school when I am not busy working full time. So when I finally plugged the "repaired" computer in BANG its the same problem. What they did do is load malware anti malware, and of course their office contact information on the home screen and also some other malware all of which was completely useless which I couldve and done for free before taking it in. Id say this place is borderline scammers and would not feel comfortable recommending them to anyone I even remotely liked. I am very busy and need two computers but thanks to these scammers I only have one. DONT GO THERE. Please note anyone that gives this hack joint a good review is either the owners family or college buddy. Theyre hacks, scammers and con artists. Shop around and you will understand what I am saying. Please note: I do not have the time to deal with inept people or scammers. However, if this company contacts me and makes this issue right I will change this review.

I took my laptop to jafferson. I have an hp dv6000. They then told me it was the video card that failed and they could replace the graphics card. 3 weeks later i pick up my laptop and took it home. still had the same problem. I took it to another local shop- When i told the girl at the counter that my computer was having major problems. She diagnosed the problem in less than 10 minutes. she then informed me that you cant fix the problem. She showed me online while I was there that my model was known for this problem and that you CAN"T replace the video card in a laptop. I asked her to prove it to me, and she did. She said the onyl way to repair the computer is with a new motherboard- but the motherboard would still have the bad nvidia more than likely. So I wasted my money to repair my laptop with Jaffersons. HOW JAFFERSONS CAN CHARGE ME TO FIX A VIDEO CARD THAT IS ONBOARD IS BEYOND ME! Every person I have talked to since about this situation has confirmed to me that this is not poss. When i called Jaffersons to confirm to me that they did fix the video card and didnt replace the board- maybe i was confused- they said NO We replaced your video card. YOU CANT DO THAT ON A LAPTOP SCAM ARTISTS! I ended up purchasing a brand new computer that had glowing reviews at the other store i went to. They proved that jafferson lied to me with FACTS. I then confirmed what they said with a couple others. Stay away from this place!!!!! I noticed that half their reviews seem FAKE. Do not trust these people!
