On a rainy Sunday afternoon, after eating brunch with my lovely, tattooless family, a friend and I had made a spontaneous decision to get tattoos. First we drove to inkwell in Brighton, where they were totally booked. Mind you, I usually go to Lucky Monkey in Ann Arbor so I told her to call them and see if they had any walk in availability. Of course being one of the best, they were booked. As someone who lives in Whitmore Lake I was prepared to drive to any surrounding area. So I pull out my phone and Google "tattoo shop" and viola! LOVELY Monkey Tattoo shows up! And just earlier I was wondering why no one had opened up a tattoo shop in WL. Dana, the owner of Lucky Monkey opened up this little cousin in September. Had no idea! So Emily and I walk in and immediately we are greeted with not one smile, but two; and a pretty painting to go along with it. (Bri, (Brie?) The apprentice to Casper was painting in front of the window.) We asked if they did walk ins and luckily Casper had a cancellation that day so both Emily and I got our tattoos one after the other. Not only is he an amazing artist, he is an all around awesome dude. Dana even stopped in for a bit and said hello. Man I love these people. I thought lucky monkey would forever be my number one but I guess the tape is double sided now! Check them out!

I cant say enough lovely things about this shop! The atmosphere is cool and inviting; sometimes I feel a little unsure about going into a tattoo shop as a lady alone, but everyone that I met there was super warm and inviting and put me at ease. Bri, the gal who did my tattoo, was professional and quick, my design was simple and small and she suggested a cool way to shade it in that I hadnt thought of when I was coming up with the design. She was knowledgeable and made sure I was fully informed and pleased with the size, placement, color, etc. before we moved forward. The artwork that the tattoo artists have up in their space is testament to the quality and unique talent they possess and I will definitely be returning here in the future! I view tattoos as investments (theyre on you forever ya know :D) and am so pleased with the experience and the work itself so Ill continue to invest in Lovely Monkey!

I have several tattoos but none are as beautiful as the ones Bri has given me at Lovely Monkey. Her art is AMAZING, the ink is incredible, and the shear talent out of this shop is unbelievable. My other tattoos are from some of the best artists in Portland and San Fransisco and they are nothing compared to mine from Bri. Her talent is out of this world. Thank you for giving me custom pieces (so reasonably priced too!) that make me smile several times a day. The compliments I get on them are unbelievable. In addition to the artist talent, the shop is clean, maintained, and welcoming. Id go back again and again.

Clean shop but unprofessional tattoo artists - one of the five star reviews here is from one of the artists themselves?? One artist did a cover up for me that didnt cover up the old tattoo and dodged my calls about issues with the piece. That was after breaking three previous appointments to do the piece - two appointments were canceled the day of. Another artist botched a huge piece on my best friends arm right before her wedding. She went back there three times to get it fixed and it still looked splotchy. She ended up going somewhere else. I recommend that tbh if you want excellent work.

Loved everything about my experience here. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting, as were Casper and Bri. Casper did my tattoo and I couldnt be happier with how it turned out! By far my best tattoo experience.
