My friend in Chicago sold his BMW to Chicago Carmax, and he highly recommended me to try Carmax service. So I went to the only Carmax store in Michigan. I trusted them, but the result are very disappointed. When I see what they did during the appraisal process, i already knew they are gonna under estimate my car. I never saw any mechanic act unprofessionally like that. Their mechanics cannot distinguish original paint and repaint. They dont know how to use push button start and just tell me "it cannot start, buddy", value a good condition tire (only 10000 miles drove) as "need to replace", etc. Their sales guy already knew that I am hurry to sell and plan to go oversea next week. So they even didnt take a careful look and research about my car, just offer me a very low price and trying to rip me off. I was very disappointed about how this Michigan Carmax store treat customers. I did lots of research about the fair market price of my BMW, and I have count on the problems on my car and tell them all honestly. They offer 70% less than market price. What so ever, I will never recommend any of my friends and families go to this Michigan Carmax. However, if you are very hurry to sell like me, you can try them. I have to say that the whole process is very quick. Around 2 hours, I got the check and good to go. That is why I marked the 2 star for them.

Went to CarMax in Kentwood to have my car appraised. Ive had it listed privately for sale with a few hits, but wanted to see what CarMax would offer. I had my car listed privately for $19,500 (right at KBB value for private sale), and an offer to purchase from another dealer for $17,500 (again, right at KBB value for trade in). The appraisal came back from CarMax at $15,500, way below the KBB value and other offers I had. I know KBB isnt the only service to value cars, but in my research found the KBB value to be very accurate (I reviewed AutoTrader, Black Book, Edmonds, etc.). CarMax even had almost the same exact car for sale for $21,000. If you are looking to sell or trade your car, make sure you get other offers besides CarMax. I have higher offers from other dealers ($2,000 more the CarMax), and will be using one of them to sell my car.

It was a waste of time, gas etc to drive fron kazoo to GR. Local Toyota dealer here offered me a price for my Camry. Typical used car salesman lead me to believe he woukd offer me more. Wrong same exact amount. Forgot the young mans name. He had no clue about title and registration questions. I have always bought a new car so never had to do all that. Sell your used vCard to local dealership they will buy even if you are not buying a car from them atleast metro Toyota in kalamazoo They took forever to do the paperwork. A new girl in training and the supervisors sat right next to here and told her what to do. After the U salesman I had it now teaching not today. It took yes two hours just paperwork. Salesman never thanked pad me for my business. I never go to a car max again. Next car buying new again

I Spent 3 hours at Carmax without a purchase. Traveled from Ann Arbor area to look at a Chry 300. The front fender and doors had been poorly repainted. Found a different 300 that we decided to purchase. When filling out the paperwork, discovered that Carmax charges $199 to transfer the title. This service replaces the task of you standing in line at Sec of St. They make you purchase this, even though there is a sign on the wall that reads that the service is not required by federal law. I was going to finance through Carmax, then shop for a low rate loan. Carmax could not guarantee there would not be any cost to do so after a 3 day period, and I must return within 3 days (from Ann Arbor) and sign the title, to avoid any loan transfer costs. Extremely disappointed

This place is deplorable at best. This place is fake, so fake that it is laughable really. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH this place!! IF you want a car, go to a dealership, go to your most trusted local used car place. ABSOLUTELY UNDER NO circumstances expect them to give you a FAIR appraisal for your vehicle. I would implore that ONE could expect the same from their sales staff. I have read a lot of reviews on this company and most of them are TERRIBLE. That was my experience as well. I repeat, this place is going to rip you off!

I have been to a number of Carmax locations and this one has been just as great as the rest of them. They really arent pushy. You really cant / dont have to haggle. They have only one upsell which is the warranty. It makes buying a car SUCH a better experience. I dont understand why anyone would step foot in a regular pushy, tricky dealership after visiting a Carmax. I will definitely be buying my next car from them, I am so glad they finally have a Michigan location!
