The majority of the store is fine but the deli counter is absolutely infuriating. Writing a complaint is very unlike me. In fact, this is the only time that I have done this but I am to the point of taking my business elsewhere. I even set up this google plus account solely for this purpose. I come to this Meijer because it is close to the house I moved into 2 years ago. Since I have been coming to this Meijer the ticket machine at the deli counter hasnt worked. So needless to say when there is a lot of people waiting it gets to be a huge mess. We typically get a pound of turkey every week. Not a difficult order. This is what I have experienced the last two weeks that I have visited the deli counter. Last week, I was the only customer at the counter. There were 4 people behind the counter. It took a few minutes for anyone to acknowledge that I was even standing there. The guy who waited on me was painfully slow. So much so that I kept an eye on the time. He spent most of his time visiting with the handyman who was replacing the blades on the machine. The other workers were literally doing nothing. The only time they waited on someone was when a Meijer worker in a blue button up shirt, presumably a manager, came to get his break food. Fifteen minutes later.... I finally had my turkey. It wasnt a pound and even though I asked for more the guy just printed out the sticker, slapped it on the bag and handed it to me. Today I visited and there were 5 people behind the counter. There was one other customer there. Only one worker was actually doing something. She was wiping down a machine. After not being acknowledged for several minutes I asked the guy if hed been helped yet, he rolled his eyes and said I guess shes working on it and pointed to the lady cleaning the machine. He was visible unhappy and I get the feeling he had been waiting quite awhile. These are just the most recent experiences. Its very rare that Ive had a tolerable experience at this deli. Every other Meijer deli Ive been to seems to function well so I think its something that can be fixed. This is ridiculous. Maybe I am in the minority on this with receiving horrible service but I know that I will no longer be coming to this Meijer for anything from the deli. Its definitely not worth the hassle.

HORRIBLE! I cant say enough about how poorly this Meijer is managed. Im specifically referring to their staffing or lack thereof. If you plan to go disregard what Google says about peak times because Ive been there at 3 or 4 am and had to wait too long because they have 1 person covering 3-4 working u-scan lanes out of 6. Busy times they open the other side and a few more lanes but you still have only a small handful of real lanes open. I try to avoid shopping there as much as possible but its close so I try it from time to time. Well I almost always regret it. It would be more efficient to pay more checkout cashiers which would make customers happy instead of having to pay them to restock baskets or carts full of groceries. No returns but the carts and baskets Ive dropped many times when I got to the front and saw the lines are all the way back into the clothing department and they have one person covering 9 u-scan machines. Sorry to whomever has to deal with the thawed or other stuff Ive dropped on the floor because I dont have time to stand around and your stores management dept. should be replaced or helping customers checkout. They clearly do not know what their job title means. I often wonder how much the u-scan lanes save them. I figure avg they allow one person to do what 9 did before. Regardless they save enough $ to allow a couple more employees to open a couple lanes. Need assistance shopping? Good luck! They kick you from one dept to another claiming it isnt their dept. Ive had more assistance finding things with help from product vendors doing inventory and they dont even work for Meijer. I feel sorry for them. They must get that a lot. You can pick up a red phone and maybe get help but you might be there a long time.....if they come at all. Basically that Meijer is like a terribly Secretary of State branch-you never want to go but sometimes need to and will spend a lot of wasted time getting a couple things. Go to Cascade, Knapp or better yet Aldis

I very much like Meijer overall as a one-stop shopping "super center" that is very similar to Walmart. I very much prefer Meijer over Walmart as my number one place to grocery shop. They have a fantastic selection of whatever grocery item(s) you need or want. On the flip side, this specific Meijer location is my least favorite Meijer store to shop at of the numerous Meijer locations I have been a customer at throughout the years since being introduced to Meijer. This specific Meijer still has the excellent selection of products, that is not the issue. The problem with this Meijer is that because of its location, it is patronized by a large group of unsavory types. There was an incident a while ago in which a woman, whom at the time was leaving the store after shopping, fell victim to an attempted abduction as she was walking out of the front door of the store. I much prefer to shop at either the Cascade Meijer location that is located further east down 28th street, or the Meijer location on E. Beltline Ave at Knapps Corner shopping area.

I cant go this store, its extremely dirty, packed ful of loud mouth smelly people. Sry no offense! But if they would clean up after their selves it wouldnt be so gross. And Im not talking just the employees Im talking about customers! I mean why trash somewhere you go for your house hold needs and groceries. Its b.s.? Not all of us live in filth and I would never buy produce here bc of the high possibility of veggies and fruit being contaminated with bacteria. Who knows when the last time someone washed there hands. Yuck! And for thoes women that use the restroom and walk straight out without washing needs to get their ickyness in the shower and stop putting your germs on everyone & everything, have respect! If your home not washing your hands I guess thats on you and yours but seriously at a grocery store?

This Meijer is the worst. The staff here are rude and slow. I said "Hi" to a staff member behind the deli and she responded, "What?" They are clearly working for a paycheck and do not have a customer service attitude whatsoever. The customer is an inconvenience to them. If your light goes red in the self checkout, expect to have to track someone down to get their attention. Cant find anything in the store? Good luck. They will either say they dont have it or send you to someone else. Expecting a warm welcome or friendly goodbye from the "greeter"? Yeah right. The greeter just stood there and didnt say a word when we walked in and when we left. I stepped in front of a staff member pushing an empty cart and her response to my "Im sorry!" was an eye roll. This place needs a serious kick in the rear.
