Anytime we think of games, gaming accessories, and hard to find DVD movies, we think of Disc Replay. My husband and I have a large family, so being budget conscience is a necessity. Disc Replay helps us stretch our entertainment dollars further with great prices and a large offering of choices to suit our familys needs. For the most part, the store is laid out great - I can always find what I need. Gaming accessories, like controllers and cords, are inaccessible along the walls behind the counter, though, and I dont like that you cant readily see prices or quality/condition of the product (some of which are used to different degrees) before waiting in line at the counter and inquiring. I feel as if Im being too picky if I ask to see more than one controller at a time so that I can compare. The counter area, itself, could use a little more thought. During peak times, the area is very congested and the lines can be confusing. Even if you arent waiting in line, trying to shop through the store is hindered by the people concentrated in that one area. Wed almost rather avoid the store altogether when we know that its busy. Despite all that, Disc Replay is the first place that comes to mind when our family thinks "gaming".

After two horrible experiences here. I wouldnt recommend anyone going here who is trying to get a screen repaired. The first time I was here was to get my sisters screen fixed on her iPhone 5c which cost me over $95. So I expected some decent work to be done. After a couple of weeks her screen started to pop out, and was eventually hanging out of the phone like a rag doll. The second time I was there was for myself. I was at work and a kid smashed my phone on the concrete causing it to shatter. So, I just figured I would give this place another try . I took my iPhone in right before I went back off to school, which was a mistake may I add. It cost me $110 and after a couple days of getting my phone back the screen started to come out. My microphone was also messed up and the touch features on my phone was not working the same as when I brought it in. This was very disappointing because although there was a warranty I could not get my phone back in because my school was almost three hours away. Just recently I went to push my screen back in because it was completely hanging out and my LCD is now completely cracked. I am a broke college student home for the summer, taking classes, trying to work and now phoneless.

Im totally addicted to Disc Replay! This place is great. Im big into retro-console games, and theres really nowhere else good to go in the mid-Michigan area. There are a few other stores out there, but their selection is average-to-poor, and their prices are always at least slightly inflated compared to Amazon/eBay, if not completely inflated. Disc Replay, on the other hand, has about 20-30 times more games for the common systems (NES/SNES), and even lots of games for systems that dont even pop up at the other places (Atari 2600, Turbo Grafx 16, Sega Master System, etc). The prices are very fair, ranging from competitive with online prices, to quite a bit under (all Atari games are 99 cents at the time of this writing). There are a lot of consoles available, too. I grabbed an Atari 2600 and Sega Master System. Both worked great, they tested them in the store before sending them home with me. Again, the prices were very competitive to what youd find online, especially factoring in shipping. Basically, this is a really cool place. The prices are fair, the selection is huge, and its just an all-around great place to find anything from that niche system from 30 years ago, all the way up to todays modern consoles.

I suppose Ill start with the positive. They have just about whatever youre looking for and everything is priced fairly. Customer service is good. Now to the reason Im giving 1 star. I have been shopping here fairly regularly for about 5 years now and things seem to be going down hill. Over the 5 year period I have bought plenty of hardware and never had am issue. Now in the last month I have purchased a gamecube, it would give me disc errors. I exchanged it for a different console, same issue. Kept giving me disc read errors. Returned it and picked up a ds lite, it wouldnt read the ds cards. Exchanged it for a dsi and guess what, its not reading the cards. At this point I have had enough. Now the return policy is what it is and I dont have an issue with it at all. I do however have a problem with getting faulty hardware, especially Nintendo hardware that is pretty solid and doesnt generally break down unless you mistreat it. Even though the dsi and games are still within the time I can return them, whats the point? So I can get another piece of hard ware that doesnt work. At this post I will just toss it in the drawer and chalk up the $70 to $80 I spent on the stuff. Its a shame that it has to be this way

I have shopped here since the store opened and while overall Ive had a decent at best experience. I can honestly say you should do your research before buying or selling anything in this location. Have been low-balled on numerous items of value because employees were wanting to buy it secondhand from the store cheap. They commonly will look up eBay or amazon listings if you bring something in they dont have in their system. The bad thing about this is they have never factor in shipping for an item..they will only give you a offer based on the percentage it sold for without shipping. Many of the used monitors they have in this location are outdated and extremely overpriced for what you are getting. I have also witnessed this location buying stolen games. A common practice is people renting games from a redbox with a prepard card and then selling them to locations such as this for cash. I have on multiple occasions witnessed workers buying stacks of games with no cases.. This may not be a common practice anymore, but upon seeing this, I brought it to the attention of an employee who laughed and said people will still buy em anyway. Not much more integrity than a pawn shop when you get right down to it.

I had the pleasure of buying an Xbox 360 game from Disc Replay recently and it was a delightful experience. I was in search of a game for my wife and I to play, it couldnt be a first person shooter so I decided to go with a platform game, Rayman Origins. It was easy enough to find in the store as the games were alphabetized and I believe sectioned off by console type. It seemed reasonably priced at $16.99, there are some cheaper on Amazon after doing a quick search but most require a shipping fee and dealing with unknown sellers leaving the conditioning of the actual game to be questionable. I also needed an HDMI cable which the gentleman at the counter was able to find for me no problem, which again was more convenient than buying online or going to another retailer to find. I dont purchase many video games anymore but this Disc Replay seemed well managed and had what I think a proper video gaming store should have, the right games for a fair price with friendly employees.
