My boyfriend and I live 3 hours away from Fairlane mall. We came December 16th, 2016 to come Christmas shopping. When we came into the mall there was a incident with an individual downstairs. So I personally took out my phone and recorded the incident as it was happening. As we were walking away I realized I wasnt even recording, I took a picture instead. We were immediately stopped by a security guard Mr. Barbers and he has told us to move along and delete our photo. We walked on and I deleted it from my phone immediately. He continued to follow us and then stopped us before we even started shopping and told us to leave. We asked why and they said it is against mall policy to take or record photo/videos. My boyfriend and I had no knowledge of this rule. Then proceeded to tell us is outside every store before you come on EXCEPT Macys, cause they do not own Macys. Well go figure that is where my boyfriend and I parked. We were clearly upset cause we just drove two hours to come shopping, and the picture was already deleted. We had asked for a copy of the policy and security officer Mr. barbers and colleague proceeded to give us a supervision policy (protaining to child 18 years and younger) Mind you my boyfriend and I are over 21 years of age, with clearly no small children with us. We decided to wait for a manager to come and speak with us. Apparently the higher up manager leaves around 5pm so we got someone else. Not even dressed in any type of manger attire. Just in a Michigan pullover, he proceeded to argue viciously to my boyfriend. And at the end; the manager came to his own conclusion. That we were they for me (a female) so I could stay and he could leave. The manager had no idea what the situation was. And told my boyfriend to leave. This incident started because I took a photo with my phone and deleted it after. I proceeded to argue with the manager telling him, I take full responsibility that I took a photo, but that I deleted it and they could have every right to look on my phone to make sure I wasnt lying. And after that they told us both to leave. At that point I didnt care what was said because that is complete bullshit. This was my boyfriends first time coming to Fairlane mall and my second. I thought this was a nice mall but the management and the people who run it are just not worth it. I have never felt so belittled in my entire life and the security guards are just down right idiots. Basically like Paul Blarts but with more attitudes. Horrible service and horrible people! NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN. I DO NOT RECOMMEND FAIRLANE MALL!

Its a trap.. Jk. Beautiful mall. Buyer beware. Prices are gouged. (not all places are doing this but be wise). Just yesterday I decided Id get my usual 511 levis from JC Penney. At southland mall (15 min south) I paid 34 after tax and a sale. Here they had a display half off and once I showed up to pay it was full price 68, I mentioned to them I found them on the half off rack. Then I noticed stickers placed over the official Levis® price! For just an extra 2 bucks? The entire mall is surrounded by hotels 5 stars and doubletrees style hotels. Of course its not in Detroit but its nice to be close. So my 30 years living by the airport here is my advice if youre traveling and want to visit Detroit (which is on the rise like ive never would believe Id see). Search southland mall in Taylor MI. And find a hotel near there. As of now 75 north to Detroit is open. The ride back is a bit longer but its simply 94 east to Pelham Rd (which turns into Allen Rd.) or Telegraph (depending on which hotel your at). To avoid traffic its your typical rush hours you want to avoid going downtown till 9 at the earliest and get back by 3 at the latest. Or youll be in 2 hours of the chaos 75 south construction has caused us. Not traveling? Then take a gamble and bring a charged phone to take pictures to price check. Im in it. They have blockers that force your to use the wifi. Price checking isnt easy. I used to work at the Henry and Edward hotels. There are folks who dont mind the cost that is their targets. Already staying there, Walmart is near. I know, but youre not getting price hacked and its not the best Walmart. Again Taylor & Southgate have the malls, a Walmart right at Telegraph and 94 (excellent, but stupid busy) the best Walmart Southgate Dix and Eureka. Both are between and pass Southland Mall. That mall.... 4 stars. Simple urban and honest prices. Anything north or west, very nice! But again, prices are amped up. Good luck, welcome to Detroit. Its becoming safer, but dont let your guard down. Idiots who dont realize were all on cameras are stuck in the 90s. Thats fading fast. Im 40 and spent 10 years in Nashville. Came back and am proud to say Im from here. The best late spring thru November times. The other months. I wish I were back in Music City! Lol Fweeew, hope it helped someone... BTW. I designed and built the Edward Hotels new business center. The hotel... Sorry its not the Henry nor a Holiday Inn. The owner must invest to reach the goal. Mr Wong pleasure working for you, hope you do get a true 4 or 5 star place. It takes time..

I only like this mall because of a certain restaurant, otherwise all the stores in there are total crap and make me sick, I have to go to Somerset in Troy, MI. or Twelve Oaks in Novi just to look at normal stuff that isnt $2 Chinese junk. But in the food court there is a hidden gem. As a Muslim, I usually steer towards the Halal foods and more typically Arabic foods, but since I started working as an Exec. at Ford nearby, I started eating at the mall food court. All the other restaurants , especially Arab, made me sick and Im kind of sick of Arab food all together except for Subway but how much of that can you eat. Then I tried Polish Deli, there wasnt a line and I was kind of in a hurry, so I got the Polish sausage, cabbage roll, and a few pierogis plus a drink, and let me just be the first to say that I dont understand why my Arab colleagues have been saying bad things about this place(bunch of racists). I believe that Polish Deli should have a line of 20 people at all times the food is that good(I just think people dont eat there because except for lunch where there are many working professionals eating, all other times its only Arabs and Blacks in the mall/foodcourt, not a good place for a Polish restaurant), the only bad thing I would say is the girl that was serving the food was a little bitchy but the older lady, which I think was the owner, was overly nice. This was my third day there and this place will probably be my regular place to eat from now on. The 5 stars are only for Polish Deli, for the mall, I would give it a solid .5 stars but I have to settle on a 1 star rating for the mall because thats as low as it goes.
