Around 2 years ago I purchased a pair of Ray-Ban prescription glasses from House of Optical. The selection was good and I didnt feel rushed by the salesperson. While choosing my lenses, they salesperson suggested that I add a very light tint to them. He said if I didnt like it they would remove it for free. A few days after picking up the glasses I decided I didnt like the tint as it made my eyes look old and tired, I went back and had it removed. It didnt look completely clear after that but I was content enough considering I only wear my glasses in the morning before I put my contacts in and at night after I take them out. Fast forward to about a year later. The lenses are peeling in a bunch of different spots. When I ordered my lenses I chose ZERO coatings (besides the tint that I was talked into and that was eventually "removed"). It was super annoying but I dealt with it because of the amount of time I wear my glasses as mentioned above. But it kept getting worse. Eventually I brought them back to House of Optical after admittedly procrastinating for months. This is where the fun begins. After taking a number and waiting the usual 20+ minutes or so, I was helped by a nice lady. I explained my situation and showed her the glasses. She explained that coatings can "sometimes do this". She also asked if I left them in a hot car or anything. I explained that they literally sit in their case in my bathroom drawer for the majority of their life. They get no abuse whatsoever and very rarely leave the house. She took them to the back and returned saying this was strange and they could try to strip them but it might make them even worse. She said Im out of my warranty period and I could order new lenses if Id like. I declined and left. Now youre probably thinking that wasnt so awful... I decided that instead of paying the onetwentysomething she quoted me for new lenses, I would go somewhere else to get a new eye exam and a whole new pair of cheap glasses. When the glasses I ordered arrived and I tried them on I was like WHOA! My eyes couldnt have changed THAT much! I was so shocked that I actually called House of Optical and explained that I ordered new glasses from somewhere else but I didnt care for the prescription. I asked them to fax over the prescription (to my new optometrist) they used in my glasses and they were kind enough to do so. So the fax arrives with my prescription from HoO and my new Dr. explains that its not that far off from what she prescribed me. So she has the bright idea of reading my glasses that I got from HoO. They are completely different from the prescription HoO claims they put in them. Wowwww. So I decide to pay HoO another visit thinking maybe they fudged the numbers they faxed over. I arrive and explain the situation and ask for a copy of the exact prescription that is in my glasses. She explains that my prescription is out of date and she cant provide me with that information unless I have another eye exam with them. Fair enough. She did agree to take them to the back and read the lenses. Thats when she came back and explained that the lenses in my glasses are not the lenses they put in and I must have replaced them. So for about 2 years I have had a prescription in my glasses that doesnt even match the prescription they wrote me? And on top of that I put them in there myself? Whattt?! That was the point that I gave up. All I wanted was answers but I was made to feel like I was trying to pull a fast one. tl;dr: To be honest I have no clue if its the policies that are in place or the people I dealt with, but I was made to feel helpless in this situation and like I was trying to take advantage of them. Nobody went out of their way to help me through the situation that they put me in. With so much competition out there I will not be giving my business to House of Optical anymore.

After being a loyal customer for 5 years, that means absolutely nothing as I was treated as an inconvenience when I apogetically asked if my son, not me, could still be seen for his 3:30 pm appointment as I showed up late for my 3:00pm appointment at 3:20 pm. The front desk staff person, proceeded to argue with me that my sons appt was at 3:15pm. Okay, well even if it was, youre expecting me to reschedule BOTH appts. My son, I was told would be seen at 3:30 pm. What are you saying? That the doctor was only going to see me for 15 minutes? I have been wearing glasses since I was in second grade, contacts since 8th grade and have received a lot of optical services. I have yet to have a 15 minute exam with the most efficient doctor. It was such a huge deal to see if my son could still be seen. Are you kidding me??? I was more than a little put off. On top of that, another very unprofessional front desk staff person, yawned, not once but twice, in front of me. I guess she was really busy...no, because, my son and I were one of 4 customers there. I will never go back to this place. I just wonder what is more important to businesses now? Money or having satisfied and pleased customers? Definitely the former with this establishment currently. Not a driving principle of a "Good to Great" business and I am more than happy to leave!!!!

The front desk staff is wonderful. However, the woman in the other area that waited on me wasnt rude, but she wasnt friendly at all. I wanted to make a purchase of all the services. However, her non-personality made me change my mind entirely and I purchased only what Medicare allowed. After being referred by Dr. Shanboms office I really thought this was a outstanding place. Because his staff is AWESOM. I will never go back to House of Optical nor will I refer anyone there EVER. I waited for over two to three weeks for a call to pick up my glasses, nothing. I called they said they called, I told them I didnt receive a call, no messages were left on my home phone or cell phone. They disputed what I said. I went to get my glasses, still no difference in their services. The glasses werent even adjusted properly. Horrible place. I wish I could give them a minus star.

Almost $600 for a pair of bi-focals, six months ago. When I lost one of the arms after it broke, I called the office. I was told, "Come right in, well fix you up with something!" After being informed that they dont sell that frame any more. When I made it in, I was reminded they dont make that any more. Then she went to the back to talk to someone back there. Came back with a set of frames like mine, that they are keeping on the rack (in the back room) "until it sold." Cannot sell you an arm; you would need to buy the whole frame. No, spending another $250 on a frame that will break is not my idea of helping me out! They should last longer than six months.

Overly Helpful staff. I ordered glasses and didnt love them once they were made. HoO allowed me to exchange them free of charge and pick a better frame which I love! My only gripe is the people who manage the phones are not "in the Know". I called and asked about the wait time and the woman on the phone said "10-15 mins, and the Optometrist isnt busy. I needed a check on my Rx. I show up and he is booked solid and no one behind the desk wanted to fess up. I ended up lucking out when someone didnt show up for their appointment.
