Hom Depot should have a big sign on their website that says DO BUSINESS AT YOUR OWN RISK. WE DO NOT CARE AND ARE NOT ACCOUNTABLE." We placed an order for doors and windows. Our contractor advised against doing business with them but we disregarded this sage advice. And are we paying the price. This was a substantial order. We were given a date in early September when the order would arrive. On that day we were told only part of the order had arrived and the rest would come ten days later. Mind you no one returns calls and we had to go to the store on multiple occasions to find out the status. We went over ten days later (because no one was available on the phone) and we were told the order had arrived, was on a truck and that the truck would be unloaded on Monday. So we lined up our contractor and since no one had called from Home Depot we went over once again to ascertain our contractor could pick up the order. At that point we were told the vendor had actually not yet shipped the order and the notes on the account were incorrect. The sales person said he would escalate to his supervisor who would call us. When no one called went over and spoke to his supervisor who assured me that he would be escalating this his boss who would most definitely call me. Guess what his boss never called and so I went once again to the store. His boss was around but could not find the time of day to meet with me!! Apparently the issue had been escalated to his boss. So the run around continues. Now we are told the order might arrive on October 6th but again there is absolutely no guarantee as they cannot get anything definitive. In the meantime we are losing money and time -- NOT TO MENTION HAVING TO DEAL WITH A STORE THAT DOES NOT CARE We are literally stuck SO MY SINCERE ADVICE IS AVOID DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM.

Why do I even bother? Last winter I bought a snowblower there that arrived with bent handle. They could not exchange/replace it, but they offered to order me the part and have me fix it, or return it. Unfortunately, between the time I ordered it and the time I received it, a storm was forecast and EVERYONE else sold out. I ended up returning it and buying another at Belmont Turf Equipment a few weeks later (they cost a little more, but are actually helpful). Yesterday, I called to confirm that someone would be able to help me special order a door when I could get there after work. I called at 12:30 and was assured someone would be there until 10PM. I drive over around 6:30 and there are 3 people ahead of me to speak with a person in doors and windows...who doesnt have the ability to order anything, only point to what they have in-stock. He told be that the guy who can order things left "about an hour ago". He said I could order it through customer service, but that line was about 20 people deep and only 1 associate was there to help. No one looked happy and nothing was moving too fast and I didnt have the time to wait. Today, I called again and waited 25 minutes on hold before giving up. It is a shame Home Depot killed a lot of small hardware stores and replaced them with this horrible service. If I need an in-stock common item, and I dont need to talk to an associate...it works. But beyond that, go to Ace/True Value/ or your local mom & pop if you still have one.

I went to the Watertown MA home depot to buy a preassembled grill. The grills are chained in front of the store for security reasons so I went to the service desk to ask how to make my purchase. I was told to go to the garden center for help. I could not find an associate so I asked the garden center cashier how to go about the purchase. She informed me to find an associate, get the SKU number to make my purchase and the associate would help me load it into my vehicle. The first associate I encountered did not work in the garden center but directed me to one who did. The garden center associate told me he was busy but would meet me at the grills shortly to help me out. He did come by in a few minutes to assist, but had to get the key to unchain the grills. Upon his return he found the key would not fit the lock although it was clearly marked with a tag that read garden center grills. At that point I thanked him for his assistance and left the Watertown Home Depot to head to the Waltham MA store. I did purchase a grill, but unfortunately they had no preassembled ones, only boxed. That worked for me, as I am handy with tools, but might not have worked for the majority of people on a pre fourth of July weekend. Happy fourth of July!

A couple thousand bucks for frustration! I ordered tile for the kitchen and paid $130 for delivery AND CARRY-IN. When the truck arrived, the guys sat in the truck waiting for me to come out, jump up on the truck and unload the pallet myself. I showed them my PAID receipt stating the carry-in service and they refused with the excuse that they are only curbside delivery. They didnt even have a 2 wheeler.(I am a 65 yr old woman and NO WAY can I unload a whole pallet of ceramic tile and back board! So I had to march back to the store and show Customer Service my PAID receipt. Next day they came and reluctantly delivered it as paid for. The remodeling job was another sad tale. Home Depot? Good for trash bags, light bulbs and gardening supplies..thats it for me.

I went in to to place an order for fencing...a $3000 order. First, no one at the pro-desk or customer service desk could be bothered to help me. You would think i was asking for a favor and not a paying customer. Once I did finally get the order place, they refused to give me any kind of reasonable estimate on when it would be ready...they said just keep calling? So I did and after a total of over an hour on holds...I finally got someone that it would be prepared on this past sunday and my contractor could pick it up on Monday. So he waited until Tuesday just to be sure and when they showed up...NOTHING had been done. Now my contractor wasted a 1/2 day waiting and going to the store to pick up. Waste of time...the LAST time I ever go to this store.

A lot of times I go there late at night and its hard to find knowledgeable staff but what do you expect when you go there after 9pm and its the skeleton crew. This week I went there during more regular hours and the staff there was very nice and very knowledgeable. Dave in the paint department took all the necessary time to teach me the proper way to help paint my house even though it was busy there. I actually went there with paint chips and intended to get more paint even though had a gallon+ house paint and primer at home. He didnt try to sell me more paint but told me to use what I had first then get more later as I may have enough for the job. He taught me some very cool blending techniques to make a smoother surface.
