I took my mother here for some shopping for Japanese foods and was greatly disappointed. A lot of the stuff (Japanese brands) my mom bought before, is no longer sold. So now, the store is mostly Korean foods. That is too bad, because my mom would usually spend hundreds of dollars on each visit (every few weeks or so). You would think with the other Japanese stores closed, they would stock up to keep the clientele. Another thing that had happened on this recent visit is the way we were treated by the employees. My mom had asked a question about an item, and was told rudely that was all they had. But the worst part of that was when after my mom walked away, the clerks and stock boys made a rude comment/joke about my mother (I was in the next aisle). It was that which ultimately downgraded my opinion. This is my last visit to this place. I told my mother that I am willing to drive her to New Jersey to Mitsuwa Marketplace to buy her groceries, unless the Hmart in Burlington carries some Japanese products.

Like the Tardis, its bigger on the inside. It has rooms and rooms and rooms of produce and noodles and sauces and meats, including hundreds of items you might not recognize if youre not familiar with Japanese or Korean cuisine. Thats part of the fun! The prices are reasonable and the service is friendly enough. Sure, youll find a bigger selection at a huge place like H Mart, but if Reliable is more convenient, it should meet nearly all of your needs. Im thrilled that the apartment Ive picked for next year will put me within easy walking distance! Youll probably find me squealing with glee in the noodle section on a regular basis.

They treat customers like trash, cop a major attitude, and they treat their Hispanic *employees* like absolute CRAP as well. Full disclosure: I GREW UP with Koreans, ok? So its not like Im not dealing you straight here. This problem has been going on for years. The only place worse than this place is Kotobukiya -- ironically (due to the strife between the Japanese and the Koreans) the Japanese store right down the street. If youre hard pressed for supplies, go to CMART in Chinatown. The people there are cool.

I went there to get Sushi grade salmon. I wasnt sure at first whether theyre sushi grade, so I asked one of the Korean worker. She answered me but with an annoyed look. Well, cant expect everyone to know... The fish tasted good. Itd be nice if they skin it. Theres not much selection on the vege though. I like their bulgogi cut beef which I cant find in other Asian market. Parking is available behind the building. Unfortunately, we cant take out the shopping cart.

I have been to this market a few times and though they have a wide selection of international grocerys the staff is not very kind to non asian customers. This has been confirmed by at least a dozen people that i know and a few comments from complete strangers. The problem is when you ask for a certain item the staff member walks away or completly ignores you.

Great selection of Korean food, with a decent amount of Japanese food as well. Fresh seafood and meat, good selection of Asian leaning produce, also has a small section of good alcohol. Great snack foods, quality instant ramen options, sauces and oils, and more as well! In summary, though it is not a huge store it has a great selection!

Really beat down shop from its prior glory. Dark and smelly interior, and mislabelled price tags. My wife brought up the fact that the rice crackers were labelled to 4 something but ended up charging us 10 something, and nothing was done to refund or return. Shady to the fullest. And the fish selection is really meh at this point.

Reliable is truly reliable. Its really nice to have this grocery store right in the heart of Union Sq. Pretty good grocery selection, a really good beer selection (probably best in Somerville, in my opinion!), and they even have sashimi grade fish which Ive had a few times and can say the quality is very good.

Good selection of Korean foods and a decent range of other East Asian foods. Not as extensive as H Mart or Super 88, but much more convenient if youre located in Somerville or South Medford. Surprisingly good beer and sake selection. However, the meat and seafood selection leaves much to be desired.

Awesome selection of Japanese and Korean food. Not just packaged snacks, but a full on grocery store: Asian vegetables, sushi grade fish, raw rice, spices, and much more. My mother (who is originally Japanese) felt for a few minutes like she was back in her childhood. Highly recommended.

Mecca for a great variety of Asian goods, including afritada and adobo tuna, and a selection of mochi ice cream! They also have a nice selection of beer and wines, and a small sit down dine in area for noodles and soups (prepared on site). A bit pricey, but shop local!

Very expensive and not a wide selection of items. They have a small dine in section with tables and chairs if you want to order hot food for them and eat in there. Good for if youre in a pinch, but otherwise I would go to Super 88, H-Mart or Chinatown.

I was impressed, a wide variety of dry goods, ingredients for cooking from scratch, snacks, vegetables, fruits, meat and seafood. Even a pretty darn good alcohol selection. Store owner is nice, talkative, and plays with our daughter.

This is not a Large Asian Market... And please check on the EXPIRE DATE on the products. For ramen it usally has more then a year, but here it has like a month or less... Try H Mart near by...

Surprisingly good alcohol selection, has a good selection of staple items and fresh veg. Basically a convenient and reliable mini grocery store. They also have a 10% student discount.

I kind of adore this place a lot because of the variety of goods. The location is a bit hard to get to but sometimes, you just need to go there and get your stuff for a perfect meal.

Reliable is great for all those wierd asian groceries you didnt know were missing in your life. Go here to try kim-chi flavored ramen or just to buy some kim chi.

Asian grocery with all the fun stuff you cant find elsewhere. They also have a solid sake and craft beer selection which is a secret little gem for Union Sq.

Reliable Market has an excellent variety of foods, as well as high-quality fish and seafood, some decent craft beer selections, and a food counter too!

This is where we go if we want to buy some Korean liquor like Makgeolli. Its like a smaller, less-slick version of H-Mart but with a liquor license.

I lived in South Korea for a few years and going up and down the aisle was a stroll down memory lane. Great amount of selections to choose from

Lots of tasty Asian groceries, but nothing Chinese, only Japanese and Korean foods. Free parking in the back. Not bad for a neighborhood market.
