Its Memorial Day Weekend, a weekend to remember the military, those that have passed and present, how they are all Heros that protect us each day. I created an image will be posting on Facebook - meant to do it yesterday and got caught up with other things you do on Saturdays - its part of life. My daughter and family had given me a Home Depot card for Mothers Day. I made a list, but also like to browse and look at sale items too. Thats what I had been doing Ive been fortunate to have some "Heros" in my life and today was the day I met Dave Bottom, my Home Depot Hero. I lost my purse/bag that had something besides money very important in it. The money, my keys to the car and our house would have been a pain to replace, then to get a ride home, but thats all beside the point, I would have figured it out. My review is that the Home Depot people are so nice. Dave took immediate control of the situation and calmed me down completely. He said well go to the courtesy desk, mentioned a name that she would help. But it was him - he listed to me and knew it was important. He reassured me that no one would leave the store with my bag and that wed find it. He made an announcement to everyone in the store and described me and my bag, detailed the bag and to bring to the courtesy desk (I think those were the words). He was very firm. Dave stayed at the front and waited to see if anyone brought to the front desk and watched people leaving the store as did other Home Depot people. I backtracked where I had been and sure enough it was on the floor next to the runner rugs I had been looking at. Im was happy to find and so grateful to "My Home Depot Hero" for keeping me so calm that I could remember everywhere Id been. Im almost 65, in remission from Cancer, and have "chemo brain" sometimes - like I did in the first place leaving the bag on the floor. I was way over looking at the wood section looking at beams to put in the backyard - make a little balance beam for my granddaughter. When I took this photo of my Hero, I asked Dave his name, where he was from, which is Boylston, and has three daughters. I think he said he was a retired school teacher or my son-in-law told me that. I had emailed his photo to my daughter and told her what happened. She showed it to Mike and he knew who Dave was. A matter of fact everyone in the store knew who Dave was. I should have asked how long hed been there. I plan to go over tomorrow with a thank you, maybe stop at Heberts first and get him something small as a token of my appreciation. Thank you Dave and Home Depot for a well run store over nice people and nice customers too - all very helpful.

This is one of the worst Home Depots I have dealt with. Their customer service is really poor and cant trust the quality of service they provide. A few months ago, I had a special order to install a kitchen garbage disposer. I was told that someone will contact me to install within a week. Several weeks later, I had a call from someone from Rhode Island who told me that they were contacted by Home Depot to install this disposer. But they dont do the installation in the Shrewsbury area any longer. I was asked to go back to Home Depot and have them get in touch with someone else to do the work. By this time, I was fed up and decided to get a local plumber, Another painful incident I am still suffering through right now. I have placed an order for a new replacement kitchen counter top with them. They contracted the work to another company and they came and measured for the template. I was told that the surface is not level, but they will be still be able to do the counter by adjusting the height by shimmying with small pieces of wood. They came today to install the counter top and told me that they cant put the counter on because the surface is not level. I would have expected them to tell me that when they did the measurement for the template, not now after cutting the counter. Now I have no counter, the old counter one is removed and the kitchen is not usable. The contractors told me that I should go back to the Home Depot and they will get me someone to come and level the surface in a day or twp. So, I went there in person and asked them if they could help me find someone to level the counter. They dont have anyone in their list of contractors who they could refer me to for this work. The person who helped, a manager with the customer service, was not very pleasant and unfriendly. I would have expected to tell me when the measurements were taken if they were expecting a problem with the installation. Now I am in the process of getting an outside carpenter to level the counter surface and may have to wait perhaps a long while before I could get the counter installed. Too late for me cancel the order, since the counter is already cut.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this Home Depot especially if you have doors/windows project. First thing to know is they use Davos which is the worst contracting company in the region. Second, their Doors & Windows people are the most unprofessional and unpleasant people. They turned a simple interior doors project into a nightmare (and the project was never done!) After sending someone out, I got a quote of total cost. When placed the order, the invoice was 50+% more; they claimed "the guy who gave the quote didnt know what he was doing and he doesnt work here anymore"... They called asking to pick up the order more than a month later! I had to explain everything again to the person (who had no clue) that it was supposed to be installer pick up. The drama continues with scheduling the installation. Davos cancelled the installation twice (which took forever to schedule) within just a couple of hours wasting two days I took off work (it is very difficult for me to take days off work) for silly reasons (e.g. the truck broke down, it is too cold)... We went to the store for help and spoke with "Rob Montgomery" who promised a quick resolution but it turned out he was totally useless and technically just lied. Worst of all was "Dena" form "expedited customer care" who was very very rude and did not care at all. She called to confirm that Davos was going to call that same day to schedule the installation (which was what Rob had promised too.) Davos never called. Two days later we called Dena to check and it was really disgusting when she started lying and denying that she said "Davos was going to call same day"...at that point we figured it was a total waste of time dealing with all those dishonest people and decided to cancel the project all together (which was another drama with Home Depot)... So 2+ months later and after all that time and effort wasted, we are back to square one because of Home Depots terrible management and failure to get a two hour installation done!
