I built a new house last year and bought the basic shell at Davis Frame in Claremont. The rest of the materials (interior framing lumber, garage, all roofing and siding, etc I got at LaValleys. I found the prices to be as good as Home Depot and they deliver for free. The guys in the store are all helpful and knowledgeable and gave us a lot of free advice and good recommendations for materials. Even the delivery drivers went out of their way to help us put materials where we wanted them and went the extra mile. Only one time I had an issue and they resolved it in a professional manner. Their prices significantly beat Home Depot. If you know what you want, go to La Valleys; you will save your money. If you dont know what you want, and are going to need assistance, go to Home Depot; La Valleys doesnt have very many service persons. However, I would only follow basic assistance/advice given to me by service persons at Home Depot because they arent very experienced. La Valleys is better than Home Depot for advice, if you talk to the "old-hands" working behind the service counter. Just expect that you will have to wait for their good advice/assistance!

Purchased two cedar 4x4 posts for $50 a piece. Had no idea cedar had gotten so expensive! Later found a source of black locust posts for WAY cheaper, and wanted to return. Without a receipt they absolutely would not work with me. Unwilling to use credit card record as indication or their tagging system as indications that I bought the posts from them, or to look up purchase by date. Completely inflexible. Since they wont do a simple return, I simply wont return.

This place has gone downhill as far as service is concerned. I hear they have fired many of their staff and havent given raises in years. They do have quite a supply to meet your building needs..but service is poor..time to go to Home Depot!

LaValleys has the best prices WITH outstanding service. Employees are busy but knowledgeable. For Contractors it is best to go durning weekdays. LaValleys is very commited in helping do it yourselfers.
