For anyone planing on adding a furry friend to their family I suggest NOT going to FFF (Fin Fur Feather) in Hanover MA. I have been a customer at FFF for many years. Almost a year ago my mother and I went to FFF to get some fish, I had just recently lost my cat and of course I fell in love with this little 2 pound 4 month old kitten. FFF suggested a vet to me that they use and told me I have 14 days to get her to the vet and if theres anything wrong with her they will work with me. I took her to the vet within the 14 days and did everything the vet suggested to me. Alittle less then a year latter I take her to the VCA and they asked me why I never got the FeLV (Feline leukemia) test done.(because i never knew about it) It was fairly pricey with the VCA so I took her to petcos vetco on September 2nd where she unfortunately tested positive for FeLV. The vets at petco said its very odd they didnt suggest me to get her tested as a kitten and every cat that comes through their doors they suggest to get tested. FeLV is passed cat to cat through saliva, blood, sperm etc.. I have another cat that tested negative. Hes the only other cat shes been in contact with since Ive had her, shes a strictly indoor cat. That means when I got her she was sick. Now that Ive found out she tested positive for FeLV I have to keep my cats separated. After I got the test results I went to FFF the woman was very rude. I was told I would get a call from the owner Tuesday the 5th but I still havent heard from her.

Puppy Report
Proof that the puppies here come from puppy mills: I wrote the Mass Dept. of Agricultural Resources and asked for copies of Health Certificate Import Records for this pet store for a one year period from mid 2012-2013 and then again for early 2014. The papers showed the names of some of the breeders in Kansas that ship to this store. Both of these Kansas breeders are on the Humane Societys List of 100 worst puppy mills. One breeder had 69 dogs and 66 puppies at the time of inspection and the other had 204 dogs and 74 puppies. The inspection reports show sickening abuse and neglect. A sign in the store says our breeders generally raise one or two breeds that they specialize in. While the breeder may specialize in a certain breed it doesnt mean they dont have buildings full of all different breeds and mix breed dogs who will live their lives in small cages and be killed when someone decides it is no longer profitable to feed them. Do not be deceived. The puppies here come from puppy mills. Yes they are USDA licensed but all commercial breeders who sell to pet stores have to be USDA licensed. USDA regulations for the care of the mother and father dogs are not what most people would ever consider humane. Please ask the pet store owners to change to a humane business model and sponsor adoptions thru local shelters and rescues instead of supporting the cruel puppy industry. I would never buy anything here until they do that.

Although the people are nice and try to help, they take HORRIBLE care of their animals. Theyd rather let fish STARVE of hunger than let someone adopt them, or at least sell them for a reduced rate. I was shocked when I saw an emancipated mandarin fish, clinging on life. The fishs stomach was completely caved in, and it was clearly under stress. The salt water fish they do offer is often dying, or dead. An example is a yellow tang I saw in a 92 gallon "display" with dead live rock and starving diseased fish. There was a severely beaten up yellow tang that was a VERY pale yellow with all the fins chewed off, a diseased scat and mono, and the starving mandarin. When I continued to inquire about the price of the poor mandarin, the owner of the fish still wanted to sell it to me FULL price and them some for 24.45. Normal HEALTHY mandarin fish are only 15 or 16 dollars in most stores, and I was shocked that the owner would rather let the fish starve then let someone adopt or at least buy it on a reduced rate. I am very disappointed with the store and will try to keep away from the store at all costs, and telling everyone I know to do so too.

I think all pet shops are sketchy to some degree. However Fin,fur and feather takes better care of those animals than some of the people that come in to buy them! I was at a pet shop once and a lady was walking out saying "that thing would look awesome in my pocketbook" she was talking about a maltese puppy!!! at least theyre knowledgeable about the animals and while the fish might have looked bad that day...try and remember they are bred in captive tanks on fish farms and then shipped all over the country most of the time internationally...of course they are stressed out! Fish should be free, not held in captive breeding tanks and then promplty shipped away to god knows where to only be bought and kept with seldom another fish of their own kind. All pet shops have a cruelty factor. But at Fin,fur and feather at least you have people that know a thing or two about what theyre selling. They talked me out of a rabbit and I apprecieated their honesty...they cared about the rabbit enough to tell me.

I agree with alot of these posts as I bought a kitten who ended up at the vet less than 24 hrs later. I was told she had parasites and that they were highly contagious. I returned to the store for and refund as it already cost me hundreds at the vet and the kitten was very ill. I didnt want my kids to get attached to and sick kitten. The vet said she likely would not make it. I had to threaten to take them to court just to take the kitten back without a refund. Id never ever but an animal there agsin. This was a few years ago.

I didnt want to give this place any stars, but I couldnt post without checking off at least one. Our dog is now four years old and becoming very aggressive all of a sudden. We love her dearly but were told she was a full-blooded golden retriever at the time of purchase. The vet has told us that she is German Shepherd, Yellow Lab, and maybe a little bit of Golden Retriever. All I can say is that this store LIES!!!

When I first walked into Fin Fur and Feather, I was looking for a kitten. The worker there let us look at several young, beautiful, and healthy kittens. She supplied lots of information and helped us buy the supplies we needed to take care of our kitten. Now, our cat (Arrow) is full grown and is the mother of 5 beautiful babies. I will never go to a different pet store again! GO GO GO GO GO GO!!!!
