EPIC FAIL... Ordered an item online, only to have the order cancelled by Best Buy after purchase because the item was no longer available at the store I placed the order with (although 3 were avail when I clicked the buy button). Went back online to repurchase the item as another store near me was showing three in stock. When I clicked the cart, the item updated that none were avail at the store, so I changed the order to free delivery and went to complete the sale. Problem is that I used my credit card and two gift cards to make that purchase and when Best Buy cancelled the order and credited my credit card, they did not reverse the charges to the two gift cards. I went to repurchase the item and was unable to use my gift cards as they showed zero balance. So I called customer service for elite rewards customers and from there it went downhill. Three calls and 45 minutes wasted. I was transferred between three departments and then after another 27 min on the phone, they disconnected the call. (See attached) Called back and spent another HOUR on the phone and still no fix. Comedy of errors for a completely inefficient customer service department. No one could reverse YOUR mistake. Was told to wait a day and call back tomorrow. ??? Want to purchase the item TODAY... major run around so I went to the local store and asked for a manager. Told him the details of the problem and he asked me for the gift card numbers and then walked away from the desk. I waited a few minutes for him and when he didnt reappear, I walked to the back of the store where he went to while assisting me and he was working on another customer problem. I was completely blown off by Larry the manager of the Towson store. He told me to go back up front and wait for jake. Waited 15 min for jake and no show. So, I left the store as Ive now wasted 3 hours on Best Buys mistake. I expect the gift cards to be credited back, I expect some type of credit to offset my wasted Sunday and a guarantee that if the item isnt available at the price I could have purchased it today (open box and on sale) that you will match todays price since this whole ordeal is your companies fault... Or, Best Buy is going lose this elite customer and the sale. Probably taking my business elsewhere. If I ran my firm like you ran yours, Id be out of business.

I like to do my own work, and understand what Im doing. I ran into some serious software issues installing a second hard drive in my laptop; the guy at the geek squad offered a few minutes of genuinely helpful service, above and beyond Dells "gold level" technical support. More recently Ive been installing some audio equipment in my car. The amp, sub, and stereo were purchased a few years ago from audio connection. The speakers and some wiring harnesses I bought from best buy, to move into my new car. Audio connection mostly blew me off. They dont do partial installs, or even consulting, even when I offered their $80/hr for a half hours help with a bad speaker I had once I was done doing my own work. They only wanted $900 to do a full installation, and nothing less. I went back to best buy, where they kindly looked at my wiring, and 10 minutes later identified a bad RCA cable as the cause of my lone malfunctioning speaker, no charge! Picked up an RCA cable and all was good. This is just one example; Ive had several other questions over the course of this project, for which best buy helped me out. Theoretically I mourn the small, more personable independents. But when best buy outperforms audio connection significantly in price AND service, its no wonder. BTW-- the floor salesmen dont always know that much. My compliments are reserved for the geek squad, and if you have a serious question that youve already researched a bit on your own, just go directly to them.

Terrible Service. Waited for 30+ mins trying to get a simple answer on a product that I was going to purchase. I asked for a rep to be paged to my area after walking around the entire store and seeing no one around. Another 25 mins of waiting goes by before a rep walked by only to tell me to go another section of the store for help. Finally, I walked to the customer service desk where two reps where talking between themselves. With a kind smile I stood patiently waiting to be acknowledged. Yet I was ignored for another 10 mins. One of the two told the other that I was waiting, however, he looked my direction then turned away to continue the conversation. So, I had enough. It seemed that target had the same device so I dropped the item on the desk and walked out of the store. I dont write reviews ever, but this pissed me off. In only 5 mins someone could have pointed me in the right direction, I would have made the purchase and would have been back again. $300 isnt a lot to some I know, but it is still money walking out of the door. Dont spend your money supporting a company that doesnt care about selling their products.

I went looking for a laptop with specific requirements. I wandered around looking at a variety of laptops. Someone approached me if I needed help. At that point, I was still looking. Eventually, I asked for service and the saleslady was excellent. Showed me a couple of laptops that fit my requirements and explained how the laptop 2-in-1 works. Itll be perfect for editing photos on plane trips. All in all, an excellent experience. I declined the set up service because of time constraints, but I did have trouble setting it up at home. Id signed up for the Geek Squad service. I used it. They were a great help. I finished setting it up the next morning and love it. I am very happy with the service this store provides. Additionally, two years ago I found a flatscreen there I liked. I was ready to buy but they did not have it in the store. They located one in Owings Mills. They arranged for me to pick it up there. I did. Another good experience.

Best Buy overall is filled with your typical sales people like you would find in Wal-Mart. Rarely youll find someone that is knowledgeable about the products. Geek Squad is extremely overpriced and does the same thing anyone can do with 10 minutes on google and free software. They go so far as putting terrible software on your computer before you get it then charge you to remove it. I suggest a local repair shop as theyre typically cheaper and a lot more knowledgeable about computer problems. This store is even more special as the idiots (management included) didnt realize $2 bills are legal US currency and had a guy arrested because he tried to pay a installation bill that they originally said he didnt have to pay since they screwed up. So go to Best Buy if you want to be ripped off and go to this store if you want to have the cops called on you as well for being more intelligent than their staff.
