I am so glad to have found this little gem. When you first walk inside you will not be able to tell that this is a consignment store. It has the look and feel similar to a store like "Forever 21". My first visit was made to sell some clothes for cash on the spot. Let me tell you that I am close to 50. My clothes are the classic designs by Anne Taylor, Jones New York, Ann Klein, and the like. This is not that kind of store. Its target audience is in the late teen to middle twenties who wear the Designer Brand of the week and grace the front pages of Teen, Vogue or Cosmopolitan. (The last two mags may be too old - which tells you the last time I held a magazine in my hand and not read just a snippet on the internet). Their stock is flawless. Dont bother bringing your stained Target brand clearance item. They wont even look at it. This store favors their shoppers needs, wants and desires. They are spot on pricing their items to reflect their knowledge of how much that age group is earning and willing to spend. And then they go lower. Classic marketing technique 101 - Make the customer feel that your store has the best selection, quality, up to date fashions at the lowest prices in town. Look no further than right here....there is no need to shop around. And they have mastered that technique. I will never shop in a "Real" store again. Even though I am not in their targeted age group I found many items to buy. But, I was there to sell. This was not the place to make money selling my clothes. I brought in approximately 15 items. Each item was in excellent condition and a designer brand that although very expensive, not desired by their customers. They bought one item. I made $4.25. I have no idea what they even bought. I think I spent more in gas just to get there. But, it was not a wasted trip. I have many items that are perfect for their store. I just grabbed one box of clothing that hasnt fit or been worn in years and ran out the door . So, next time I will gather up my Betsey Johnson, Michael Kors and Big Buddha (plus many more) trending styles and sell on Wednesday so I may also buy on Wednesday and receive an additional discount. Most cash for clothes consignment stores will give you more in store credit vs cash in hand. But check them out on the web. All u need to know is right there. But you dont get the "feel" of who shops there unless u check it out in person. It will not be a wasted trip. Hope this review helps

I arrived when the store opened to sell clothes. I was told it would be a forty-five minute to an hour wait but it ended up being maybe an hour and fifteen minutes. I would have appreciated if they had checked in with me while I was waiting or if they had provided at least some water or more magazines in their seller waiting area. I brought over twenty pieces of nice, seldom-worn clothes (my style is classic, slightly preppy - I go for timeless pieces) that are from good brands but they only bought five pieces. Basically, theyre only buying and selling teen clothes that you can find at the mall this season (think a miniature discount Forever 21). If your clothes dont fit that description, dont bother trying to sell to them. I would have appreciated if they had done a cursory look-over my items to see if I had anything worth their time and just told me they werent interested upfront. I will say though that the staff this time was much more polite and friendly than other times I went in. I wish they had at least some clothes for young adults and casual work clothes. I used to be able to find stuff I liked here but now its just cheap (and kinda trashy) casual teen clothes.

I went to Uptown Cheapskate in Rockville, MD. Very dissappointed and surprised in their process of buying back clothes. In order to start the process of buying clothes, you must fill out paperwork (including asking for your drivers license). They claim it is to send you offers in the mail. Even if you do not want mail offers, you are still required to give all this private information about yourself. After filling out paperwork, you must wait for someone to go through your clothes to see if they will buy anything from you. It is not guaranteed. So not only do you have to fill out paperwork (will private information that only banks and government agencies require) you may not get any money for your items. I also went through their store to look at what they offer. The store is neat and organized and has a dressing room. Prices are reasonable, however, for used clothes, the clothes are still overpriced. You can easily find brand new clothes for the same prices as these used clothes. This store is NOT worth your time or money. Go elsewhere and buy new clothes at the same price or less.

I didnt buy anything. I only came here to sell stuff. When you show up to drop stuff off, they make you fill out a form and they need to see your drivers license for some reason. They told me it will take an hour for the seller to go through the items even though I didnt have that many. They only accepted three of my items for a total of $8 cash. I think you get 25% more if you choose to receive store credit. Its barely nothing, but I just wanted to get rid of the items. Ive also never sold anything to consignment shops so I have no basis for comparison. I did a quick walk around of the store, but there was nothing that appealed to me. The clothes seemed mostly for the younger demographic. You can probably find better quality and cheaper clothes at TJ Maxx or Marshalls. Also, the sales associates all seemed uninterested in helping and would rather chit chat amongst themselves.

Let me start by saying that 90% of everyone reviewing this store are hypercritical to the extreme. This is why. Everyone is butt-hurt because theyre insulted that Uptown wont take their clothes! Guess what? You are all unfashionable shlubs! Whats even funnier is that Uptown makes you wait so long to boot! I guess it ads insult to injury LOL. I have sold here multiple times and they accept about 80% of my clothes which I would consider normal. I wait between 20 min and an hour. There are times I KNOW they put me ahead in the que. WHY? Because I dont deliver them a garbage bag of trash. My stuff comes folded. What do I trade my T -shirts for? Burberry sweater made in Italy. To Boot New York chukkas made in Italy. John Varvatos desert boots never worn. Folks that cant figure out how to score some wins here are straight bamas.

The staff here are always so friendly and helpful. They have a variety of styles in lots of different sizes, and everything is pretty much up to date with current fashion. Yes, some clothes/shoes will be slightly worn, but thats because its a SECONDHAND store. Its recycling old clothes; however, Ive never had a problem with something being too damaged or worn for me to wear. Its also really great for semi-final clothes! I bought a CK dress for a quince and it was as good as new. I will be going back often in an effort to sell and recycle my old clothes and buy recycled clothes.
