There are really good bike shops...then there is Race Pace who are frankly the BEST! --Everyone-- who works there is passionate about bikes, and it really shows. Their advice is never to just sell you on something that the company stocks, or get commissions on, but rather what will be the best solution for -your- personal needs. They stock bikes and accessories... whatever they personally use, across many different brands of products. So if you want to see the best array of accessories go no further. It doesnt matter if you are completely new to cycling, or someone who races, they take the time to make sure your experience is the very best. They are the only Retul (advanced computerized bike fitting) location in the world that tracks BOTH sides of the rider simultaneously. Retul makes a perfect fit to get the most out of anyones biking experience from beginner to racing. Their mechanics (specific call out to Ben Kramer) are in a different league all together and the expertise they have makes riding bikes the very enjoyable experience it should be! Like I said, there is good, and then there is great...Race Pace is GREAT!

Outstanding! Ive trusted the "varsity" at Race Pace, Columbia, since 2010 with tunes, tweaks, and over-hauls of my classic Trek 860, my top end Project One Madone, and more. To be sure, Ive dipped my toes, at one time or another, in most of the LBSs within the Balt/Annapolis/DC triangle, as well as some of the most renowned shops across the country ... I can assure all that Race Pace is absolutely tops in terms of expert service and best selection of highest quality bikes, parts, gear, and incidentals for every rider. Like nearly every brick-and-mortar retailer, Race Pace faces stiff competition from the internet. Astonishingly?, youll find their prices nearly equal to the best of the net, W/OUT S&H, W/OUT the wait, and WITH face-to-face quality assurance. * Owner Alex Obriecht, who belongs in the US Cycling Hall of Fame, clearly knows that his stores can only be as good as his employees; he hires the best AND keeps em! Race Pace, Columbia, is "my" LBS!

I had the highest expectations. I bought a Trek 15 years ago from Race Pace Westminster and it just started breaking down. The place was clean and well organized. I was helped by three different employees and two others asked if I needed help. I asked a million questions and each were answered carefully and in depth. I did a test ride for mountain bikes, road bikes and hybrids. Each time I was assisted they were eager to help. I cannot remember a more pleasurable purchasing experience. I was only shopping but ended up buying a bike and a ton of accessories. They were very busy but did not rush me in the least. Amazingly, they also didnt try to oversell me. I purchased a speedometer, kickstand and water bottle racks. Despite the fact they were closing in 15 minutes they happily installed them so I was ready to bike as soon as I left. I have already referred friends and will only deal with Race Pace in the future!

My wife and I have had a great experience at Race Pace. It is unusual to have such a great shopping experience. I use to race road and mountain bike more than 20 years ago, but havent kept riding. I have wanted to start riding again for a long time, so I was excited when my wife suggested we go get bikes. We shopped at several other stores, but Race Pace had the most knowledgeable staff and took time to help select the right bike and right gear. I really appreciated how there was no pressure to buy, only a willingness to make sure our venture back into biking went well. The patience they showed was amazing. We have stopped back several times now and every time they have remembered my wife, my son and my name. When you stop by say hi to Tom for us. (He really knows his stuff)

Hands down, this is my favorite bicycle store, ever. Staff is always helpful, they understand weird stuff like a 1970s-era 3-speed bicycle I wanted to tinker with. They repair stuff efficiently (although they can be pretty busy in peak season). When I was ready to buy a good road bike, they measured me carefully, listened to my criteria, and suggested two or three bicycles to try. They encouraged me to experience them to see which I liked. I alternated between two of their bicycles repeatedly before I chose one. Each time, they patiently spun pedals onto the cranks so I could ride. Compared to other stores, I always felt they were being totally transparent with me. Performance Bicycle is also a competent store, but Race Place is always my first choice.

They told me to come get my bike that were going to do a tune up on a pacific date and when I got their. They said oh yeah. We forgot about your bike. Can you come back next week. I said yeah rite when there is a performance bike rite around the corner. Just give me my bike. When I went to performance bike they said they couldnt have measured you because this isnt the rite size for you. Go back and tell them and they said yeah. They changed the goose neck and tried to sell me and additional seat lay back seat pole. When the bike should have been rite the first time. Never again. Performance bikes all day.

Thank you for your note, Jon P. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Heres what happened- called them up- Q: How much to fix a flat tire? A: $8 for the tube and $13 for labor. Headed off. In person, in the store, before handing over the wheel- Q: How much to fix a flat? A: $8.99 for the tube and $13 for labor. Q: Over the phone the guy told me $8 for the tube. A: Yeah, $8.99. Paid it but having learned that 99 cents matters more to them than goodwill and future sales, Ill be shopping elsewhere for the new bike Im also in the market to buy.

Helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. They properly measured me for my road bike, although I already knew I needed 58, and then built up a model I was interested in so I could take it for a spin. Another place I visited that stocks Trek told me that I was a 56 because they "run big," which turned out to be anything but true as I was significantly more comfortable on the proper size. Prices on accessories can be a bit high but thats going to be unfortunately true of any shop like this. Its just a lot cheaper to order stuff like that online.

Every time I shop here, someone is able to help me pretty quickly. I have purchased a bicycle rack and cleats/shoes at this location. When I bought my rack, they were really thorough to check that my car didnt need extra parts for a proper fit. When I was looking at where to ride, they gave great suggestions and maps. I like that they dont try to just sell you the most expensive item. They are able to come up with cheaper alternatives based on your budget and based on what product is just as good.

I cant say enough good things about this shop and the people at Race Pace. I rented a bike from the shop and due to a phone mix up they did not have the bike I rented. The guys at Race Pace found a better bike, let me borrow the pedals I needed, and made sure everything was fitted. Race Pace had the best prices around and I was able to extended my rental over the phone. This is one of the best bike shops I have been in! Keep up the great work!!
