A shiny large glass jar, up on a shelf just out of reach. Containing hundreds of gleaming bright color swirled marbles. Stems of fresh bleached wood planted deep within the collection of concentrated lively orbs. Spiraling around the stems of pale yellow wood the sweet lollys, desperate for something to rise them above the torrent of marbles, wrapped in a thin clear plastic to protect them from the buzzing flies while they grove to the deep sad blue grass as it flows like waves of sorrow from the corner stage. The old picture frames nestling the figures of those long since past, haunting this lonely old cafe. Old door frames hinged together in the center of a crowd of couches, benches, dining and coffee tables, adorned in mismatching pillows for the comfort of these lonely old cafe customers. Hats, dolls, books, mirrors, reading lamps and knick-knacks line the shelves and windowsills like a tornado blew them from the collection of an old pack rat shut in, furnishing this lonely old cafe with the sights, sounds, and smells of nostalgia. Somewhere between the blues, hats, picture frames, and marbles, the coffee fits in. And if you find the right seat, and pay close attention, you can hear a choir sing of angels from years long ago, when communion here was bread and wine. And if you just happen to find your own silence in these modern day pews of modern day worship, you just might see this lonely old cafe as I do. I bid you a warm welcome, to Beans in the Belfry.

Honestly. I was the last person would wanted to come here, because I knew it wasnt going to be a full meal (sides, a server, etc) but the experience was amazing! The cashier/barista/angel was so knowledgeable, helpful and sweet. The food was random but really good. Everything we got was well made and tasty. The selection is poor food wise but the drink selection is extensive and both food and drink was quality. I love my mom but she is a nightmare to take out to eat. She doesnt have very common eating out etiquette, the girl behind the register was incredibly nice, got us everything my mom individually asked for, and put up with basically completely inappropriate behavior. I tipped her well at the end obviously but she was so sweet and friendly regardless. She was always working, cleaning or cooking.

I had two friends visiting from out of the area... both world travelers and they loved this lovely eatery. From the laid back friendly atmosphere to the food it was a hit. They both hope to bring their family back to beans soon to see the cool music that is offered in the evening. FYI - only two servers so the wait for food can feel a bit long... so be patience and you will feel rewarded. free WIFI. big old converted church. claw-footed bathtub filled with ice for the drinks. excellent place.

Points for atmosphere, drinks and food ( by food i mean cake...only because thats all iv had there)...i think you buy french presses and tea kettles etc too. Set in an old church, its the perfect place to read your book, engage in involved conversation, or just sit down and find your post work zen or whatever. Just saying, Im from Texas and i have no business in Brunswick, but every time I am in the area, i make it a point to stop by this shop. Good job yall

Wow! Incredible sandwiches, but very poor service. Not only did sandwiches go out to others who ordered after me, but when my to go order finally came, it was without pickles and "side salads." The guy who took my order insisted that the pickles and salads were inside the containers with the sandwiches. Upon examination, he conceded the absence of pickles, but "explained" to me that a few undressed wilted mixed greens constituted their side salad. O...K...

My mom and I saw the sign for this place on the way to rent bikes nearby. After biking we looked up some restaurants online and realized this place was a restaurant! It is the coolest, most unique restaurant Ive ever been to. Its an old church and looks awesome on the outside and on the inside. The food was great and they had gluten-free options too. Im so glad we found this place and I would highly suggest it to anyone in the area!

This place was very hip!!! Awesome sort of shabby chic and just fun. They were surprisingly kid friendly and had really great milkshakes and coffee. The paninis and soup we ordered came out perfectly and we all enjoyed the quirky ambience of the place. Our son enjoyed chess (yes, he beat me) and both kids thought it was cool that there were such interesting seating choices. What a find!! Highly recommend this to anyone! <3

If you are looking for a relaxing, inviting place to take the family, or just cozy up by yourself --this is the place. This old church, turned coffee house, has high ceilings and stain glass windows with comfortable couches and chairs. Have a cup of coffee or a soda, and a sandwich and relax. Many free (tips optional) musical artists perform as well. Check website for details. Awesome staff and setting.

Worst customer service experience Ive ever had anywhere in all my travels. Guy at counter carried his lifes problems into the customers lives. I give one star for decent espresso but would be zero otherwise. What a shame if you go just dont talk to them and order directly from menu. If its not on the menu dont argue if the price is way too high like $4.75 for an iced Americano.

Nice cafe in an old church. Various sitting options, from tables to sofas and easy chairs all arranged in comfy sitting areas. Food and drinks were very good, although food service is slow. This is the type of place where you can sit relax and visit with friends. There is an area for children to play with books, doll house and dress-up trunk. Worth a visit!

I own a company that packages tours along the C&O Canal. We always use "Beans" for lunch. People love everything about it... Consider it a "must" when pedalling on the C&O Canal. Will definately be one of the highlights on you trip. Melanie, Hanna and Don have a great understanding of customer service. Thank you for making my business successful.

This is my favorite coffee place in Maryland. Good food, good coffee, great service, great atmosphere. Not just a coffee shop either. Jazz brunches on Sundays, live music Saturday nights, and more. If you dont live in Brunswick, Beans in the Belfry is worth the drive and quite probably worth buying a house in town just to become a regular.

My wife and I love this place. Great coffee -- Im partial to the french press option -- great pastries, and interesting gifts, too. Nice to be in a place where not everybody is on their laptop computer -- its a families and kids, neighborly kind of atmosphere. In fact we make the trip all the way from Gaithersburg. Recommended.

My wife and I stop here regularly to get coffee and breakfast. We love the atmosphere and food selection. If you are passing through the area, instead of going to a chain coffee house put Beans in the Belfry on your list! Also every Saturday they hold local bands to come out and play. Easiest 5 stars I have ever given.

This place is bursting with character. I love the coffee, baked goods, and even the live music. Honestly one of my favorite places to work when I am at home. My only critique would be that the service can be slow though the servers are super nice. I recommend this place whenever anyone visits this area.
