Been going to this place for almost 25 years and they have pretty much anything that you need that is military surplus/clothing. Never seen such a place before. The reviews of the staff are spot on. The guy up at the counter is nothing short of a total a-hole and I have seen him yell and berate customers before (think soup Nazi from Seinfeld!). I have always just acted pretty gruff and ignore him when I go there and have avoided his wrath so far. The black guy that is downstairs is semi reasonable helpful but short with you. He has been there for 30 years or so. There is a woman who is sometimes there who I think is the a-holes sister. She seems to have gone to the same customer service school as he did. The place pretty much has every possible camping equipment you can imagine but if you go, know what you want, keep your questions to yourself and answer staff with short one word answers and you should be ok. Oh and another thing, I parked on Franklin street right out in front of the store and when I get back to my car, I found that the driver side window was smashed and my gps was stolen. So basically if you are adventurous, willing to risk property loss and possibly get humiliated by staff just so you can get one of those tents that you had when you were in the Marine Corps… this is the place for you!

My sister flew in from Ga, with her daughters volleyball team and parents for a tournament at the Baltimore Convention Center. The BCC ticket booth told them there was no seating and they needed to bring there own. They asked near and around the center, but no luck. When I called my sister, she gave me a ear full of what was going on up there. Knowing my sister, she was more worried about others even with her own bad back, and standing or sitting on the hard floor did not help matters. I started seaching for places nearby to call, and finally I called H & H and Roger answered, Im not certain what his title is, but within the hour he had 8 camping foldup chairs delivered to my sisters hotel. The cost was very reasonable for all this help. My sister was very happy and said the chairs were perfect! Thank you Roger for just being a caring and trust worthy person! This story will be told for many years to come!

I do not like walking into a store to spend money and meeting service staff who act like they could care less about if you purchased something or not. Its not because the register person is older either. The older gentleman in the basement was VERY helpful. But it is difficult to get that far when you are out off almost immediately walking in the store. They seem to have a TON of product, but everything looks like it has dust on it, or might be old. The product looks like it is stacked on top of everything. I wonder when the last time inventory was done in that place. Sub par customer service (from a few individuals, not all) product EVERYWHERE, with no rhyme or reason, no website to speak of to see if the product is in stock, AND unsanitary & old looking shelving. Only go there if you HAVE TO and have NO other choice.

At a fine diamond retailer I expect to have my hand held, have them explain cut, clarity, color and whatever that 4th C is. At an Army surplus store I want to be left alone to wander around! I dont need somebody hovering over me. Every time Ive gone in, someone asked when I walked in if they could help me. Pointed me in the direction of what I was looking for then they left me alone. Never had a problem with the guy behind the counter either, but I never really talked to him much either so... Anyway H&H is a great store for just wandering around in, seeing what you can discover and killing a few hours in.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST...OWNER/MGR VERY RUDE & PREJUDICE...went there to shop got the stare down like I was there to rob the place. Never greeted me or said anything. When I finally came to counter to purchase my items, that were a little over$300. He snatches the items, I ignored that rudeness. But as I began to ask a question about another item, he says" if you werent ready why did you come to the register. SUPER RUDE, of course I left the items and bid him a good day. I trust he must have a great retirement plan, cause he didnt need my hard earned money. STAY AWAY YOUVE BEEN WARNED...LOL

I tried calling about some information on dogtags, the man on the phone said they do it in 10 days. I tried to ask if he knew another place, he cut me off, said no and hung up. I called back asking to speak with the manager which turned out to be the same rude guy. I told him he was very rude with me earlier, he scoffed and told me he had other customers to take care of and hung up on me again. I wouldnt encourage anyone to shop here if thats the way the staff treats potential customers.

Good: They have a ton of stuff Bad: Yeah - the guy behind the counter is nasty Ugly: Actually watched the guy behind the counter peel the price sticker off of a propane accessory that Id been looking for forever. The sticker said $3.95, but I guess he figured the thick layer of dust that was on it made it worth $9.95. When I questioned him about his peeling the sticker off, he grunted something to the effect of, "If you want it, this is the price".

Its pretty good. I went to get a pair of summer boots and was able to get a decent pair. They have a great selection. A word of caution though. The owner (at least Im assuming hes the owner) seems to be a bit rough around the edges at first blush. Hes very straight and to the point, and may come off as a bit unfriendly. Im going to assume hes retired military. Just be aware of this before you leave a bad review for an otherwise excellent store.

Fantastic selection of clothes, outdoor gear, military surplus, you name it. The gentleman downstairs was incredibly helpful, digging through piles of military pants to find a size that fit me. Its not tidy and spotless, but it is organized, and its everything a surplus place should be; a little dusty but piled high with affordable merchandise. Older folks attending the upstairs register were a little slow to action, but seemed nice enough.

The place is packed full of stuff. I spent about 5 minutes looking around and then was asked by a sales associate to either buy something or get out.......... I was going to make several purchases. When I spoke to the manager he just shrugged his shoulders. When I produced my badge and informed him that he potentially lost a lot of business he then apologized. Horrible customer service. Very rude. Id rather drive to Bethesda.

Just called to get information if they carried certain items and before I can finish making my inquire the lady who answered the phone hung up, very rude lack of customer service skills. I called back and when I asked her name she asked whats my name. She finally gave me her name SHARON, I asked to speak with a manager she claims to be the manager. VERY RUDE, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS WHAT SO EVER!
