My daughter who likes to take care of things by herself called and ask if they sold Hankook tires. She asked for a particular model and size and was told on the phone "yes we have that tire".We went to drop her car off and was told they did not have that model but they had a similar Hankook tire.Since she could not drive around on the temporary spare she decided to take the "similar model Hankook tire".2 hours later we returned to pick it up.When we walked up to the counter we could see the car parked out back through the shop with the new tire on it so we knew the job was complete. After waiting several minutes for the cashier to get off the phone with a potential customer he finally picked up the invoice for the new Hankook tire and started ringing up the sale. When the phone rang he stopped what he was doing and answered the phone repeatedly. After a few more phone calls he said Pep Boys was having problems with their computer so he would have to run her debit card through a second time. After asking my daughter was told "no it wont charge you twice, but if it does you will get your money back in about 5 days". After waiting for a half hour through all the phone calls to complete the sale we left very frustrated. She later noticed that the new tire on the car was not the Hankook tire that she paid for, but a Starfire tire even though the receipt clearly said Hankook tire on it. SHE WAS ALSO CHARGED TWICE ! MAYBE THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE COMPUTERS, BUT THERE IS CERTAINLY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE SERVICE! After making several phone calls she neither had the tire she bought nor the extra charges. HELL! she didnt even get an apology for the piss poor service! Is this the way Pep Boys does business? After waiting for her money for two weeks she finally asked me to get involved.I took a day off work ( something my daughter could not afford to do) and brought the car back to Pep Boys where i talked with the assistant Manager Talisha who after apologizing promptly had the tire exchanged and had the extra money returned to my daughters bank account. If it werent for her im sure the matter would not have been resolved. I feel that she is a very valuable employee and should probably be the ONLY person to keep their job at this store.Otherwise I think if Pep Boys wants to stay in business they should close this store and cut their looses. Tallish is the only reason this store gets 1 star.

I went to this store on December 1st, 2010 due to my Grand Am’s fuel pump going out. My car was in their shop for 3 days, which was more than enough time for them to work on my car and return it to me in perfect condition. When I moved to Texas in July 2011, I noticed that my car was not accelerating well, and my mileage was not nearly as good as it once was. I attributed this to my new state’s traffic and thought nothing of it. However, the problem became worse over the span of 3 months, and then magically got better during winter. Then my mileage completely tanked, and my car was struggling to go uphill. My ‘service engine soon’ light came on, and I had my codes run at a local, well-reputed mechanic shop. They said that my evap canister was faulty and needed to be replaced. Well, when they went to do the work, they came out to me and asked, “Have you had your fuel pump worked on recently?” I told them when it had been worked on. My mechanic got very upset and explained that when the car was worked on, the heat shield was NOT replaced. Due to this part not being on my car, the fuel was being heated, which caused it to bubble over into my evap canister, thus affecting it and causing my mileage and acceleration issues. He also said that the reason it had taken so long for the problem to show up was due to a combination of cold weather and luck. I called this location and (after being on hold for ages) explained what had happened. The mechanic that I spoke to said that my new mechanic does not know what he is talking about that “some cars don’t come with heat shields, and I have 13 certifications, so I know what I’m talking about.” Considering that I keep my car properly maintained and didn’t have mileage/acceleration issues until after I had the work done at their shop, I beg to differ. Being that I have no way to fully prove that they did this, I am now going to have to eat the cost of having my canister and shield replaced. My new mechanic is being kind enough to try and find me a new shield at our local Pick and Pull free of charge, but if he can’t find me one, I’ll have to pay $160 for it in addition to the $160 for the canister. He also said that I was grossly overcharged for my fuel pump from this Pep Boys ($1,500). Consider yourself warned, Baton Rouge!!!!!!!!!

Hey my first experience was last year I met a guy name Liljerone Williams, I hoped I spelled his name the right way hes a mechanic but hes very different from your usual mechanic. The guy is a very athletic build and moves around the other workers like hes the only person there. I brought my car there for some 20inch tires to be put on there they was swamped had a lot of ppl there the two other guys was working on there cars this guy pulled me from inside walked me through the shop with safety googles, and told me things about the car I wasnt aware of I really appreciated this guy and he did my vehicle a set of four n like 15mins tops and aligned the front end I was so happy I met him. That I took my wifes car there and he personal greeted me with respect very very professionally And asked can he tell me what was wrong with her car. He looked at it while he was working on 5 other cars ,and told me the cable for the battery was loose he tightened it and I never had a problem since. This guy is like a genius when talks breaking every part down into pieces that you didnt know but after you would feel so safe that some mechanics actually take pride in there jobs. This guy is and amazing person the type that will always be remembered and I really appreciate someone like that to make me feel safe in state that Im not from so whenever somethings going wrong Im towing it from Atlanta, Georgia just for him to work on you a blessing and thanking you again Liljerone Williams his name really sticks with you thats how I remember him.

Asked to have my plugs and wires I purchased put on car. First they said they could but when I got there they said they only charged a standard tune up rate. I then asked the man to have the Mechanic put their plugs and wires on since I was going to be charged for both anyway, and I would just return mine. No big deal. He changed the plugs, not the wires. Engine light was flashing when I left and was not doing beforehand so I took it back and asked them to check over the job. Mechanic Eric Brown was rude and sassy and said I shouldve had a diagnostic run even though I told them I had one at auto zone. Got home and realized the wires hadnt been changed. Called to complain. Was going to have them change wires, said theyd do it for free. I asked for a new mechanic because I dont know one that doesnt change those things simultaneously. Went there this morning to have that done, same mechanic, manager told my husband he told me wires had to be special ordered (they both treated me like a stupid little girl that knows nothing about cars and were obviously trying to scam me out of money.) He never told me that and if they had to do that I wouldve had them just use my wires Id already purchased. My husband changed the wires himself and the car runs like a dream now. Its hard to find a trustworthy mechanic enough as it is. Dont go to pep boys on airline highway in baton rouge. Especially if youre a woman.
