For a first time shopper, this store left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I came in the store with my father for some upholstery fabric. Being a FIRST TIME SHOPPER, I did not know that I was supposed to bring the fabric to the cutting stand to be cut. So here I am standing at the front counter with only one person in front of me for about 10+ minutes because the "customer" in front of me was an employee and wanted to chit chat with the cashier. I waited patiently. When her purchase was complete, she started to walk off only to turn around to start to ask the other employee what time she was due in to work the next day. No big deal, but where is the motto "customers come first". That is how it is at my store. And it does not end there. Once the cashier finally paged for my assistance, another employee met me by the fabric I wanted only to say (in a rude, CONDESCENDING manner) "Well if you would have brought the fabric to me I would have cut it for you. Well since Im here Ill carry it to the table for you." When we got to the table, my Dad just mentioned how the previous cut was uneven. Then she proceeds to say in an even more rude and condescending manner, "Yeah I know that, but Im not even starting from that point. Im giving you some leeway." Then pauses. "In other words Im not charging you for this portion." Like we where stupid. When we went to the front counter, my Dad stood for another 5-7 minutes waiting for someone to just come and check him out. I seen at least 4 people on the clock. Whyd it take that long for someone to just come and ring up some fabric?

The store is not organized for starters. They dont have many choices that other smaller Jo-Ann stores have, and their staff is rude. Twice Ive been treated bad by two different employees at the check--out. One was allowing customers to cut, still shop while checking out, working both registers...basically a mess and frustrating for anyone waiting in line. I finally had to say something to her, because she was trying to tell me she wasnt going to wait on me when I walked to the other register, since she was checking out people who had walked up to that side, even after I had been standing there waiting in the line behind the woman who walked away. The second time, the guy was basically not helpful, and didnt want to be there. I can order my stuff on-line from now on, because Jo-Anns obviously doesnt need the business.

This is the absolute worst JoAnn I have ever been in. The prices are high, even more so than the Louisville JoAnn. There are a few members of the staff that are polite and helpful, but more often than not theyre rude, grumpy or apathetic. On one trip a steel bar from a broken fabric rack fell on my friends foot. She went up and told the manager what happened and that a sign needed to be put up to warn people. The manager basically blew her off. It is like pulling teeth to get someone at the cutting table. For me, the coupons dont even make it worth patronizing this store any more. Ill be taking my business to Hancock in the future.

OK selection of fabric, most is not the highest quality, but you can find a little of everything. Good selection of notions. Usually have a 40% off coupon available so you dont have to pay full price, usually excludes certain brands. Small selection of home decorations, cake decorating and other craft supplies as well. Most of the full time staff is generally knowledgeable about sewing, fabrics and whether certain items are in stock. They do not all sew though, so you have to find the right person if you have questions.

Ive been shopping at JoAnn stores for a long time. My experience is usually decent. Since moving to Lexington, Ive been disappointed by the caliber of this towns JoAnn. In short, small selection of fabrics (especially non-quilting materials) and HORRIBLY understaffed. Normally I want to be in and out when I shop, and it often takes me longer to find someone working there (to help at the register or cutting fabric!) than it does to actually shop for things.

It seems like I can never find exactly what Im looking for, even when its something pretty simple. Most recently I just wanted a bit of yellow cotton (or even blend) fabric, but something with stretch like a sweatshirt fleece or jersey, but all I could find was quilters cotton, poly fleece, or pure polyester knit. I ended up with the poly knit and it was okay for my purposes, but the store experience was still frustrating.

The store is very organized so that if you were to go to the store for the first time its easy to find what you need. The prices can be very reasonable based on the type of material or tools youre looking for.

They dont have many options as far as yarn crafting goes. Ive had to wait a long time at the front of the store for a cashier to show up for checkout. Selection is poor and they are understaffed.

My favorite fabric store in Lexington. Friendly and helpful, well-organized stock. Fun extra holiday crafts. Great clerks who cut the fabric and offer really useful advice.

The best place to go for fabric, they have the largest selection. The only drawback is when its busy it can be hard to get help.
