I am impressed. No one could fairly judge below five stars the people here. I stayed in Kansas in 1965 because the people I found in Kansas were solid people, governed by reason and good-heartedness, whose sense of time matched the seasons, much different from the 7th-wave consciousness of the Eastern seaboard where I grew up. Here, at Hillside Feed and Seed I am treated with the best respect. The people are friendly, helpful, patient with my ignorance, and happy to share their knowledge with me. They are warm people of the soil, and the love of family and growing plants and flowers. Here, there are mature people, none of those no-nothing impatient brats demanding your money while checking their iphones. Their hands are slightly rough, their forearms bulge, their backs are strong, and their minds are keen. They can examine your plants with a microscope and tell you what to fix. For such a small building, much is packed in it, and the selections of tools, fertilizers, and equipment, show well-educated minds at work selecting and purchasing. I buy from many places and the internet, and locally, Hillside Feed and Seed is the best. This is a freely given evaluation I made up by myself. Bill Hamilton

Just moved to Wichita from Hutch and Googled "garden center" to see what was around. Well, aside from the amazing selection of varieties of seeds that has been mentioned in other reviews, they also had a variety of sizes of germination trays and net pots - that I was unable to find anywhere else, let alone this late in the year. Their selection of soil amendments was unbeatable too. The prices on everything were great. Ive been back twice already. I was told that they are open all year long, so I wont be stranded or forced to order anything online while we try to grow hydroponic tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, spinach, and carrots this winter.

Small place but very friendly and helpful employees. I once bought a small Thai chili plant from them for $1.99 (so freaking cheap!) and it grew huuuge and healthy and produced so many chilies. Highly recommended local place (Id encourage you to try them before your local box store). The only drawback is that they dont have a lot of plants. However, they are very helpful and quick to recommend other local places if they are out of something or dont carry it.

Hillside feed and seed has a lovely selection of plants and seeds for your garden. They provide grass seed in bulk for the whole yard or by the pound to fill in small patches. The staff is super friendly and helpful. A selection of pet supplies is plentiful and well rounded. In general the best gardening store in south wichita.

I go here for my gardening supplies, also look for unusual garden implements and yard decor. Great choice of pet foods and accessories and the staff are always ready and willing to help, provide info and professional advice when you ask. George is a walking encyclopedia of gardening advice. Ask about their rewards card!

I started learning everything I now know about gardening from the dear folks at Hillside Feed and Seed as a newly married homeowner, and now my yard and garden stop cars as they drive by for a closer look. I cant say how much I love Hillside Feed & Seed. I have 3 Palms Trees that I have at my home and I have made many visits to the store and the staff are always helpful and kind to me, if they dont know the answer to my question, they will find out. Also ask about their rewards program!!

I have loved this place for years. When my sons were little we had a rabbit that ate like a horse - they had good food at a good price. We always loved coming in to shop for spring. This is a friendly place, with good selection and terrific staff!

This place is super nice for getting your gardening fix. They know their store, their supplies, and the place isnt so large that you get lost trying to find help. Their seed bins are my favorite, and their seed selection is incredible.

They blended up a custom mix of seeds to grow for my backyard chickens to enjoy. And rcommened grass seed to replace the backyard grass theyve destroyed. Very reasonable prices! Lots of dog supplies too.
