..................................................I am very disappointed with this Dollar General, when I first started going there the cashiers for the most part were friendly. But after I started to use coupons there everything went downhill, they started getting grouchier towards me. I would from time to time get a good deal with the sales they were holding combined with coupons, sometimes I would get items for free. I recently went in there with Gain coupons from the 2/13 sunday paper, I noticed their dyer sheets were $3 and I had a $3 off coupon. I read the specifications on the coupon and the coupon stated "Save $3/1 Gain Fabric Softener or Sheets - Limit 4 similar coupons". I got up to the register and the assistant manager looks at the coupon and tells me that I cannot use the coupon becuase I would be getting it for free. I told her the item is as the coupon specifies, so Im not understanding why it cannot be accepted. I go on to tell her that the coupon policy states "Dollar General will accept coupons, including Internet Coupons, provided they meet these requirements: Coupons must be original (no photocopies) -Coupons must have a scan-able barcode - Coupons must have an expiration date -Coupons may be used only on products sold at Dollar General, and must match exactly to the item as it is packaged and sold at Dollar General - Coupons must clearly say “Manufacturers Coupon” or “Dollar General Store Coupon” . I carry this coupon policy in my purse for occasions like these (pretty bad when a customer has to reiterate what their coupon policy states and its even posted on the door!) She then proceeded to tell me that the manager has already told me that I cant use coupons if the items end up being free - I corrected her stating that she specified that if something is on clearance that I cant use a coupon(which is not correct according to the policy), this item is full price. So then she goes on about her manager will be notified about this and that I should not be allowed to get things free like this. They are obviously not educated in the fact that they will be reimbursed for the face value plus the stated handling per coupon. Perhaps they are lazy and dont like to fill out the paper work in order to be reimbursed, at least it seems that way. Ive had similar problems, I have since directed the majority of my business to other stores in the area becuase of the rudeness and how unprofessional the employees are. I have spoke with others and they said they have has the same experience when they try to use coupons.
