Fareway is memory-of-days-gone -by type of grocery store. It is nothing like the big fancy supermarkets or supercenters of today. The shining jewel in Fareways crown is their meat department. It is a full service meat counter. The selections are extensive. It includes a good selection of deli meats, barbecued meats, meat salads, their own home made brats, and a wide variety of pork, beef and poultry cuts. They even have ground turkey breast frozen in one pound packages., but you have to ask for these. I like to be able to see them cut my steak or roasts on the rare occasion that none in the case please me. They also have a selection of prepackaged meats such as ham, hot dogs, cold cuts and bacon. Besides the meat department, Fareway has good prices on good quality fresh fruits and vegetables. Dry grocery, frozen foods, dairy, bread, and sundry aisles have an adequate selection of essentials at reasonable prices. Fareway will match other stores advertised prices for anything they carry, or a reasonable facsimile of advertised products. Their prices on soft drinks are often a little less than at other places. The one area in which Fareway falls short of my hopes is that they do not carry organic meats or produce. I still buy their meat, but I have to shop elsewhere for organic produce and a few odd items. Fareway has friendly and helpful people in all departments. They offer a couple of very nice conveniences: you do not need to unload your cart (the cashier does this), and they will help you to your car with your groceries.
