*scroll down for the update on how Shane Co. is handling things now* The people behind the counter have been very friendly. However, so far I am really unhappy after years of being satisfied with their work. My fiancé bought my engagement ring from them, and it is beautiful and nearly perfect.... just the stone sat a bit too high and exposed. And the stone was badly off center. Since they dont carry any halo designs at all that keep the stone flush, I asked instead for an extra set of prongs to be added ( at the sales persons suggestion). They added the prongs alright. The prongs are kind of blobbed on there, one of the original prongs is so so thin it looks like paper and they scratched my ruby! This can be seen with the naked eye. On top of all of this, the ruby is STILL way off center. You can also look under the stone and see where someone has scooped some of the gold away, like if youve ever left a plastic spatula to melt on the side of a pan. After this "work", it was polished up and put in an envelope, as if hoping I wouldnt notice? Yeah, Im pretty upset and disgusted. I will be going in Sat in an attempt to fix this situation and I will update on what happens. **UPDATE** Update as of 01/28/2017 My fiancé went in Saturday morning and were greeted warmly by the staff as usual. Very quickly Eliza, the manager, came and found me to go over the problems with the ring. ( This was after receiving an email from the company and having my response forwarded to her). To recap, the only reason I had additional prongs added was because I was originally told I couldn’t have the ruby bezel set in that ring. The prongs were supposed to be a compromise. The other problem that I originally sent the ring in for was to straighten the ruby in the halo. When the prongs were added, the problems were; -I wasn’t satisfied with the look of the added prongs, one looked noticeably larger than the others and another, (original) was shaved down very thinly. -The ruby still quite diagonal in halo -ruby was now damaged -bridge under ring now damaged After speaking with Eliza at length, and receiving apologies for the state of the ring, (damages), it was discovered that the ring COULD be set as a bezel, however a larger halo of the same style is likely needed to make room for the band of metal that creates the setting. I sent her a photo of the same style of ring someone had turned into a bezel setting at another Shane Co. (in CA), and after discussing things with the jeweler, either I will need to use the next size up halo or take a round halo and configure it to fit my oval. They are also replacing the ruby as it was damaged. The one she brought out was a very round oval, and extremely eye-clean, if it did have the slightest violet tinge. (I dislike that coloration, I actually wanted a garnet engagement ring, but they are not tough enough for everyday wear. So the redder the ruby, the better). She will be calling around other stores in search of a redder ruby, and I am okay using the one that they had at the store if we cannot find another because it was so clean and such a cool shape. All of this is being done free-of-charge, and I get to wear my ring in the mean-time until the new ring is completed. It may take anywhere from 6-9 weeks before the final ring is complete, but I am getting my dream ring after all, and get to stay with Shane Co! They really do care about their customers. While I may have fallen through the cracks when it comes to the care the jeweler originally gave my ring, after it was brought to their attention they SWIFTLY worked to make it right, and did so in a way that didn’t make me feel worse than I did for having to complain in the first place. I will update with the completed experience and photos of the completed ring. Thanks Shane Co. for restoring my faith in your customer service!

I had a 1 ounce gold bar from UBS (union bank of Switzerland) sealed in package with matching serial numbers on gold bar and authenticity card. I wanted to sell it, and since they advertise they buy gold I thought I would give them a try. First I was told they dont buy that (sealed, bank issued gold bar, with serial number, 99,999 purity stamped on bar which is 24k) and they acted like they did not know what it was, even asked me what carat it was. They said they only buy jewelry? Gold is gold, what does it matter the shape, coin, bar, ring, necklace, etc? They then weighed it in the package and told me it wasnt an ounce, that it was only 22 grams including the package, when an ounce of gold (Troy) is 31.10 grams. I left, and after some quick qoogling went to Lost Dutchman Rare Coins, whose motto is Trust, Integrity, Fairness, Family. In less than 5 minutes I left with 94% of the spot price of 1 ounce of gold for my bar. I can only imagine what Shane Co would do to someone that was trying to sell gold and was unsure of the carat quality or weight. My bar was clearly marked and from a bank and they tried to take me to the cleaners. Do businesses here at your own risk! In hindsight I am surprised they didnt try to tell me it was a gold colored piece of lead and that it was worthless, but they would dispose of it for me. Shane Co will cut out the middleman and try to rip you off directly, use extreme caution.

I had the most amazing experience at Shane Co. I went with my soon to be fiance to give him ideas. Neither of us expected to purchase a ring or even come close to finding "the one" already. We spent a total of 4 hours there picking out the setting and the diamond. We mustve looked at a total of 15 emerald cut diamonds until we found the perfect one. Our sales representative was outstanding! She really took the time to help us find something within budget while still achieving the best quality for that price. She was very informative, friendly, and knowledgeable. I will recommend Shane Co. to anyone and everyone that is purchasing jewelry. Since they are non-commissioned staff, there was never any push to buy a larger diamond just because it was more expensive. It was all about the quality of the diamond and not the price tag. I never felt like I was being over sold or pushed towards a more expensive product. The lifetime warranty is amazing as well. All around great experience and I am so happy that we started and ended our search with Shane Company!

Dont count on your warranty! Staff tells one story and management tells another when it comes to honoring the warranty. It was news to me that if another jeweler even polishes your ring, the warranty is void (please read that again). They make all their money on over priced loose diamonds they force you to buy or you do NOT even qualify for a warranty. They told me they would beat other prices and at the same time that they will not negotiate at all from their listed prices... so how is that possible?? Their diamonds are incredibly over priced when compared to almost everywhere else as Ive done all the research necessary. Paying for their more expensive diamonds basically buys the warranty they advertise as coming with the rings. I do not support deceptive marketing practices
