This is not your average market. The menu is superb, but not necessarily for the picky eater. Their food concoctions blend in harmony and expand your culinary imagination. Rabbit, Pheasant, Lamb, Beef Tongue, Campenella, Panna Cotta, Roasted Marrow bones, My-o-My. The portions are sufficient; enough to fill, but not to be full. Nothing is classic, even the burger has green tomato pickles (what?). Though everything on the menu sounded divine, I ended up with the Soft Shell Crab with asparagus, a pesto based sauce and Avocado toast. Though the crab was good, It was a little beyond my foodie skills- Am I supposed to eat the shell? or the Mini legs? Or is this middle part edible? I definitely crushed that avocado toast though! Their wine menu was very extensive, so when we asked for advice from our server she volunteer to consult the sommelier who recommended a great bottle (Thursday night bottles are half off!). The patio was a gorgeous setting for an early summer dinner, the only odd-ish situation was the communal table setup. I felt way too involved in the strangers conversation sitting on the bench right next to me. Not necessarily a great scene for a romantic dinner, but for a casual get together with family and friends it seems appropriate!

Of the most memorable dishes in my lifetime, in 2013 I had (ok, so I dont remember the fish) fish in dill nage, roasted marrow bones, and a Black Market Margarita. My husband had the duck confit and the same margarita. The nage was buttery and yummy and I actually licked the bowl it was served in (hoping the kitchen wasnt watching in horror). It was amazing and my husband have since moved back to Texas and talk about it as one of the best meals ever. We travel a lot and are big foodies and there are a few meals that are so very memorable and this was one of them. I remember there was snow on the ground and it was such a wonderful and warming meal. Being from Texas, weve sampled many margaritas, and this one from Indianapolis tops our list. Amazing food and I wish there was one here. Guess well just have to go back and have dinner there again. Thank you for the memorable meal!

Small interesting restaurant that serves good seafood. There are only four locations in Indianapolis where I will order seafood: McCormick and Schmicks (chain), Oceannaire (chain), Plow and Anchor (local), and here (local). This place has private tables as well as a community table that you typically find in Europe. The servers are extremely nice and knowledgeable of the food and beverages. This restaurant is a bit on the pricey side so I would reserve it for when you are wanting to eat a little better. I have yet to have a dish I dont like here. The menu rotates and once an item is gone, its gone... which means the earlier you eat, the better your selection will be. Not a favorite restaurant of mine, but a place I definitely enjoy.

I drove 45 minutes to eat at this restaurant. I ordered a burger, which the waitress suggested be cooked medium-rare. I politely asked for mine to be cooked medium-well as I do not like red or pink meat. She refused. Yes, they literally refused to cook the burger to my liking. I could not believe what I was hearing. Since when do restaurants decide how you like your food. Needless to say I left without ordering and will never be returning. Neither will any of my friends. Good luck with the "well decide how you like your meat cooked" policy. Pathetic.

After looking at their menu online, I was very excited about Black Market. But I was frankly rather disappointed with my experience. It wasnt that the food was bad, but it was rather uninspiring - particularly given the price. The cocktails, at $10 apiece, were equally disappointing. For that price I would much rather get a drink at Ball & Biscuit, just down the road. The one redeeming factor was Black Markets impressive spirits menu (particularly the bourbon selection). In general, I think you can do much better with your money in Indy.

Black Market is my go-to place for friends that want conversation along with beers that you wont find in your local bar. They also have a great selection of sipping rums, mezcals, and wines. For the food, Im entirely open to trying the unique food offerings at gastropubs such as Black Market, but (and this is entirely on me, not them) I have yet to try anything other than their french fries with mayo, so I havent fallen in love with their menu quite yet. However, the fries and mayo IS pretty awesome.

I went with a group of about 10 and was seated at a communal table. The whisky, scotch, and bourbon list is amazing. The food came out very quick and I would say most were very pleased. Even the guy that order the peanut butter sandwich. I will return a second time, most likely for dinner. I found the food options to be familiar yet refreshed. Preparartion and flavors were nicely done. The environment is welcomly dark and cozy, with a speak easy vibe.

Great little gem hidden on the far end of mass ave serving up artisan cocktails and a forever changing menu. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable on their speciality of the day. I had the rabbit and didnt know what to expect but was on a culinary trip to heaven.

Cool staff. Food is different and always good. It changes by the season so its BBQ themed right now. I feel like people dont know about this place, its hidden in a corner at a dead end but its great. Pricier than a regular place but worth it I think.

I have really enjoyed this place. I think about it as a Bluebeard that doesnt try to overdo the whole hipster thing. A good variety of drinks, usually a small food menu, but the food I have had has been good. Outdoor seating in nice weather is great.

Food was good but for the price the portions are a bit on the small side. Its a really great atmosphere but can get loud due to the small space. Parking is a bit challenging on busy nights and theres usually a wait so youll want to plan ahead.

Wonderful even better than I remember. BST (bacon spinach tomato) sandwich with goat cheese and arugula side salad. Wow. Pickled goodness as appetizer always. Yes. We will be back faster. Especially during warm weather on the patio!

Outstanding cuisine at a reasonable price, especially good value for lunch. Libations are top notch, including unique cocktails, good wine & lots of quality regional beer options. Service is fantastic.

Chef refused to cook my burger how I wanted. Yes I know no pink is offensive to you but it is how I want it. I got cheese sticks instead and they were okay. The waiter was wonderful!

Staff was excellent! Its always good to try something new, but this is one that I could have passed on. You cant even find the place, that should have been the only sign I needed.

This restaurant is fantastic. The food is phenomenal, and the mix drinks are beyond amazing. Check out the daily specials for a special treat. Their normal menu is also very good.

We had the steak-bone marrow broccolini and the lamb shoulder for entrees...both were delicious and well prepared. They have a unique cocktail menu...try the Spock Brain.
