Ive been to this ace about a dozen times over the years and have had mixed customer service results. The employees at this location are "temperamental" and on my last visit I will never set foot in this ACE again. 1. I was told my repair would be ready the next day, Friday. I informed the person I would not be able to be at the store before closing on Friday and Ill pick up Saturday. I went to pick the item up and it was not finished, not a big deal. In asked the person why it wasnt done....and I was chastised by him because he said that he never said it would be AND he did not call me (he dwelled on the fact that he did not call...lol) He then carried on and on how he never said that my repair would be done the next day...I challenged him and asked if he is accusing me of lying? He replied "I told you I would call you!" This went on for at least 5 minutes. He then completed my repair, while sternly "telling" me I am wrong. Its not like I have free time on the weekend to randomly come to ACE and hang out and see if my repair is finished. NOW heres the kicker - the repair took him 4-5 minutes to finish, only because he was bitching at me the whole time. He finished and flung my repaired screen towards me on the table and walked away. 2. A gentleman 2 customers in front of me was attempting to pay for his purchase. He paid with mostly change in which he counted out for the cashier. I have never seen anything like this, however, the cashier would not take his money stating it is too much change and refused to count it. The man was completely bewildered and said "this is money, American money...why wont you take it?" She refused... It was no more than $4-5 in change. People in line were dumbfounded....Everyone was in disbelief shaking their heads. I went to this ACE, even after mixed experiences because some services they offer are convenient. Thats why 2 stars - because of some of their services. 1 STAR FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. The Owner needs to get a grip on his employees. Paul McGivern

I purchased a Toro Snow blower, even disassembled in the box, the snow blower would not fit in the trunk or back seat. Very nice folks there, they delivered it, complementary! I am a vet, and that is the kind of service I appreciate! I have been back to Ace Hardware. Great place for specials and Ace Card!

Great spot for small odd tools or things you need. I had them redo my screen except they had to do it twice because I showed them that it was falling apart. They were also pretty expensive. Only reason I like this place is because its small - customer service is pretty good and I hate Home Depot.

People ask how ace in business with Home Depot and menards on every corner?... because when you walk into ACE people help they dont run away like a cockroach at the big guy stores, its a great place especially for odd fasteners etc... its nice to shop local too I love this store

Not like other Ace stores!!!!!! Fully Stocked, knowledgeable and courteous staff, great prices. Last week I took four screens in at noon to be re-done and they were ready before 4pm.

Prices are good (especially the discounts for the members) and the staff are fantastically helpful. Besides, it seems theres no better place to cut your keys (duplicates) in Skokie.
