My wifes engagement ring was somehow damaged and my first thought was uh oh... not insured. Where do I go to get it fixed? I have lived in Elmhurst for over 20 years and pass Cottage Hill Diamonds a couple times a month when I drive through downtown Elmhurst. I had never stopped in before, but I visited one day to see if they could help. They definitely did and I realized I should have dropped by years ago. Heres why: I was greeted by Kyle Hill, who was very cordial. I explained my situation and he gave me plenty of options. The diamond was chipped at one corner, but was salvageable. It just needed to be recut. I also decided to upgrade the setting and add a couple more smaller diamonds since our 10 year anniversary is coming up. The diamond was sent out to the cutter and they did such a nice job on the cut that the clarity turned out better than when I originally bought the diamond. Kyle really helped me out to keep the price fair. He sent me emails to keep me updated on progress. He also gave me an appraisal when the ring was finished and helped me to fill out an (affordable) insurance policy in case anything were to happen to the ring again. Everything turned out fantastic and my wife loved the (wink, wink) "new" ring. Kyle even sent a card in the mail as a thank you. I dont remember a jeweler ever doing that. Kudos. A few other notes: Every time I stopped in, there was always this warm and inviting feeling to the place. Everyone who works there enjoys what they do and were always happy to strike up a conversation about anything. They had a wide variety of items on display and if they didnt have something, they would be happy to find it and order it. In my opinion this has been the best jeweler I have ever visited.

I went to Cottage Hill Diamonds on a Saturday afternoon in April 2013 while I was in town visiting my future fiancees family. She had visited the store previously with her mom but had no idea I was going in to see what she had been looking at. From start to finish, I was treated respectfully and was very comfortable with the staff, especially Collin Hill, who helped me out. He was patient with all of my questions and was honest about what my girlfriend had liked the most. He also helped me match the budget that I had, without being pushy to pay more or try to oversell me. I actually went into the store not sure if I was even going to buy anything, and after spending that little bit of time, I knew I had found a genuine company that cared about what I was looking for, and were committed to making my proposal as special as I wanted. After the purchase was complete, they insured it and shipped it to me in California so I didnt have to try and hide it through airport security. Collin took the time to highlight where I needed to fill out the rest of the paperwork to get the ring insured and was helpful the entire time. I proposed to my fiancee on Sunday May 26th in Southern Californias wine country, Temecula and everything went perfect. Thanks to the superb customer service I had there was never any stress, uncertainty, or nervousness that my proposal was going to be anything less than spectacular. I am so thankful to have been recommended to them by a friend, and would gladly recommend them to anyone looking to purchase jewelry for a loved one!!!!

He said “I’ll make it right”….and boy was Andrew Hill true to his words! Heres my story.... I brought my watch to their location in Elmhurst because I learned of their lifetime battery program – basically pay $100 and your battery will be replace for as long as you own your watch. Sounded like a great deal to me. When I was having my watch battery changed, I realized that the watch was never serviced or cleaned – my watch was WAAAAY over due for this – I love it, it’s a nice watch and it needed to have service after daily used for 5 years. After sending out my watch, I did have problems with the piece keeping time correctly once it was returned. I came back to Cottage Hill Jewelers where Andrew Hill said the following words to me- “I’ll do whatever it takes to make it right.” And he did just that! The watch needed to go out 2 other times until the correct and specialized repair person was found all at no additional charge. Most stores would have given up and just refunded the money spent by the customer to make a problem like this “just go away”, but not Andrew. It was a personal quest for him to make the watch “right” even to the point of having it worn in the store and monitored for a week before calling me to pick up my watch. By the way…this watch was not purchased at Cottage Hill, and I was treated like a long standing client of theirs…it’s so rare to be treated like a long standing customer when you just walked in for a good deal on a watch battery change. You should give them a try, they are a great group of people!

There are three people I generally dont trust - dentists, car mechanics and jewelers. Having said that, I felt completely comfortable with my decision to purchase an engagement ring from Cottage Hill because Andrew was the consummate professional, answering every question and email I presented him with, never pressured me and I found that his knowledge and expertise were unmatched in comparison with other jewelers I looked at. Other jewelers were overbearing, aggressive and insisted on rings that were outside my budget. Andrew was able to find me a beautiful diamond to go along with the ring I selected without being pushy but rather quite patient with me over the course of a few weeks - Im a bit indecisive and picky! Picking an engagement ring was something I was apprehensive about due to the overwhelming information regarding selecting diamonds. Again, Andrew went to great lengths teaching me about diamonds - the cutting process, the grading criteria, things to consider and personal opinion - which eased my apprehension and allowed me to make an informed decision. I learned about Cottage Hill Diamonds through reviews and felt the need to pay-it-forward to the next prospective customer by including a review of my own. I highly recommend consulting with Andrew for your future jewelry purchases!

What a wonderful experience we had with Collin! My Grandmother sadly passed away not too long ago leaving behind a treasure trove of jewelry. My Mom and I needed to determine whether there were items of value that should be insured or whether the items were considered “fashion” jewelry. Collin very kindly sat down with us ON VALENTINE’S DAY, no less, to sort through the dozens and dozens of pieces that we brought in. He was very respectful, professional and patient as he elaborated on the specifics of each piece and his approach for arriving at its estimated value. He described their process if we were, in fact, interested in selling the items to Cottage Hill Jewelers and was understanding as we explained that we first needed family members, currently out of state, to return during the summer and choose the pieces that they would like to keep in memory of our Grandmother. I highly recommend Cottage Hill Jewelers…Collin was wonderful! As a matter-of-fact, I returned this week and dropped off one of the items, an antique watch, for a formal appraisal and cleaning!
