Up Down Cigar is an old town institution having kept its doors open for the past 50 years. With connections all across the cigar industry, there are few things you wont find that will make for a good smoke. From La Palina to Padron and Tatuaje, you wont even find any trouble finding some Opus X at Up Down. They bring in some of the biggest names in the cigar industry nearly every month and recently opened a back garden patio for outdoor smoking in the winter. Not the greatest place to have a cigar during winter, the retail space is a little cramped to bring five or six friends to go smoke. Overall the staff is knowledgeable and helpful and the shop has a lot of history and great selection.

Going to Up Down Cigar, 1550 N Wells St, Chicago, IL 60610 will be a great experience that you soon wont forget. The staff know everything there is to know about the cigar industry and their offering in the shop. The loss of the founder Diana Silvius was a blow to the entire industry but certainly for Up Down Cigar which she founded many decades ago. I look forward to my next time in the shop as its always a great treat.

I do not know anything about cigars and I have to say, the men that work there were incredibly informative, kind, and really wanted me to enjoy the experience of buying my first cigar for a friend. I asked them if they had a gift bag or packaging and they gave me a nice Up Down Cigar mug with a bow on it--Gotta love the little things!

Excellent staff and fabulous selection and GREAT HOURS. I went on a Sunday and was impressed with the staff and service. There are a few stools and a counter that sit and chat with other BOTLs and SOTLs. Very comfortable environment. I will definitely be back.

Best cigar selection in the city proper. Friendly, informative staff and a large back patio space. Theyre low key about it, but you can byob as long as everyone in the group is buying cigars. Best kept secret in the city.

Extraordinary cigar selection in a beautiful shop. Proceed right from Davidoff to Ashton to Montecristo. Good selection of harder to find high end limited edition cigars. Also small lounge area to smoke in.
